Onto Round 5... Taking a selection of the most notable dance hits of 2005, as curated by myself to save time doing a nominations round, simply rank your top 10 as below:

2005 was a bit of a transition period for dance music. Electro was starting to make its impact with the likes of 'Shot You Down' and 'I See Girls', as well as the big resurgence in popularity for 'Jacques Your Body' - originally released in 1999. 'Owner Of A Lonely Heart' by Yes was remixed back into the charts by Max Graham, and Miami Sound Machine's 'Dr. Beat' was mashed with Mylo's 'Drop the Pressure' to create 'Doctor Pressure'. Then of course, the infamous 'sample battle' between Cabin Crew and Sunset Strippers who had dance hits sampling the same song - 'Waiting For A Star To Fall'. Both versions charted well though I've only included the bigger version here. Bodyrockers had their debut and only hit with dance meets rock 'I Like The Way'. Inaya Day brought nu-disco track 'Nasty Girl' into the top ten and Tom Novy's disco influenced track 'Your Body' also followed. Crazy Frog had one of the biggest ever novelty dance hits with their 'Axel F' cover. DHT brought eurodance back to the top ten with 'Listen To Your Heart' which perhaps led the way for acts like Cascada. Bob Sinclar started his peak period for chart success with 'Love Generation'. Basement Jaxx were also still going, although 'Oh My Gosh' would be the last time they ever saw the UK top 20.

2006 Results

 

Cascada matches the points total Calvin Harris scored for 2007. Not a surprising winner here anyhow. David Guetta who won the 2006 round when this was last run now settles for second place. Most pleasing to see is Supermode and Bodyrox both making it through. Justice also qualify just ahead of Infernal who looked to be placing 5th until the final batch of votes.

Cabin Crew was always my version of choice over Sunset Strippers and Mylo. Angel City's Sunrise and Little Love by Lil' Love were among my other dance faves that year, I really thought the latter would be a lot bigger :(

 

Just remembered that Freeloaders was N-Trance under an alias!

 

Good results for 2006, great to see Cascada win and Bodyrox get through.

I think this is the first year of these I'll be finding discoveries as it doesn't look as stellar or well known compared to the others!
