September 17, 20232 yr 2 Olivia Rodrigo - vampire 1 Doja Cat - Paint the Town Red Doja Cat eyes a second consecutive week atop the Official Singles Chart, with Paint the Town Red currently tracking to retain its reign at Number 1. The track – lifted from the Los Angeles-born rapper and singer’s upcoming fourth studio album Scarlet – became her first UK chart-topper last week. But it's by no means a done deal. Breakout singer and producer Kenya Grace looks set to secure her first-ever Official Top 5 single with Strangers this week. Her major label debut, Strangers gained traction on social media and could vault nine spots to a new peak of Number 3. cassö, RAYE and D-Block Europe’s unstoppable Prada could reach a new high on Friday, set to jump one to Number 4. Tate McRae’s viral hit Greedy looks to earn the Canadian singer-songwriter a third Top 10 hit this week, expected to debut at Number 9. Issey Cross’s The Verve-sampling drum ‘n’ bass smash Bittersweet Goodbye is predicted to break into the Top 20 for the first time this week, jumping three to what could prove a brand-new peak (19).
September 17, 20232 yr The only problem I have with Kenya being #1 is she’s too good to be a TikTok one hit wonder. I’m not going to pretend Warner know how to manage her career after the floppage of LF System and Eliza Rose. Edited September 17, 20232 yr by _Clo_
September 18, 20232 yr LF System were never gonna have a long standing career, they were a one-trick pony, taking an oldie song and remixing it basically maybe they could have pulled the same trick a couple more times but sure you cannot build a long standing career around that Eliza Rose still could come with another hit if she releases something good same for Kenya, she writes her own stuff, so it's not a LF System scenario

While you don't need a record label to produce a hit song, the continuing trend of labels rinsing TikTok songs for months with different versions without developing the artist is concerning but that’s a conversation for another day. Kenya is very talented. Edited September 18, 20232 yr by _Clo_

September 18, 20232 yr Qhen and why did she get dropped?! Laat I saw, she was soing a homage to VB in whe new video!! the follow-up to BOTA didn't make the top 100 so she'd have been dropped soon after that her most recent release with the Victoria Beckham inspired video was self-released
September 18, 20232 yr Feels too early to write Kenya Grace off as a one hit wonder, she is basically PinkPantheress 2.0 and PinkPantheress has had several hits so I don't see why she couldn't as well! I think LF SYSTEM had potential to have more hits (and maybe still do) but they messed up by making their follow-up single the exact same formula but nowhere near as good of a song.
September 18, 20232 yr the follow-up to BOTA didn't make the top 100 so she'd have been dropped soon after that her most recent release with the Victoria Beckham inspired video was self-released So are you just speculating or was she actually dropped? Loads of acts don’t make the Top 100 anymore but can still have successful careers and continue to release music.
September 18, 20232 yr So are you just speculating or was she actually dropped? Loads of acts don’t make the Top 100 anymore but can still have successful careers and continue to release music. Speculation based on the fact that her latest single was self-released, if she was still with Warner presumably they'd have released it?
September 18, 20232 yr Thats strange cos from the MW interview, Warners seemed properly invested and with a long-term interest https://www.musicweek.com/talent/read/it-s-...ce-storm/086902 but maybe something's happened since the interview

September 18, 20232 yr WOW at Sugababes managing top 40 albums. I know it won't stay there but I am guessing this is from them releasing the vinyl and selling them as merch at their 02 date.
September 18, 20232 yr I was expecting 3STM to be #1 or #2 so far. I hope Busted manage to get their first #1 album
September 18, 20232 yr That's low key awful for Demi - I suppose it's only a reissue but she has done a lot of promo/signed CDs for it 💀

September 18, 20232 yr shame about demi so low already, im liking the rock versions! and yeah that drop for travis scott is very strange, i wonder if itll fix itself out by friday? also nice to see i remember everything headed for the top 40, so so deserved, what a song!
September 18, 20232 yr I’m not sure whether Busted have done enough to overcome Olivia Rodrigo’s second week as I’m expecting them to be quite front loaded, but I really hope they can do it somehow
