Pretty much unwittingly proving my point here. Going straight for the artist whereas my paraphrased point was about the song (and album really. To the OCC's credit, they have got it on the Americana chart). A tell-tale sign of mental pigeon-holing. It's absolutely in line with traditional country balladry. She even lives in Nashville lol. Elements of chamber pop too, but hey, sometimes genres get blended like that.

Mitski is more pop jazz than country imo. Not far from Laufey at times.

 

Are you talking about her older music? Because I definitely don't get anything even close to that from her current album.

 

(I'd still call this album primarily indie/folk but it definitely does have country tinges - my post was just a little cheeky reference to Dircadirca's Australian chart thread commentary though x)

Love that Diana Vickers' 'My Wicked Heart' was re-added to Spotify yesterday after several years (I like to keep an eye on the Pop Music Activism account) and today the song it borrows from melodically, 'Under The Bridge', enters the top 200 :lol: a fun coincidence ~

My Wicked Heart got SO much vitriol when it was out. I couldn't understand it. And I'm quite surprised that Under the Bridge hasn't been in the top 200 before.

Well, that makes more sense. But I'm still surprised it hasn't been in since then. I'm not really bothered, but it's quite a classic. I guess nobody will ever know the answer to this, but I wonder what the biggest song to never be in the UK Spotify top 200 is.

The most streamed song on Spotify that's never made the top 200 in the UK is, unsurprisingly, 'DÁKITI' by Bad Bunny and Jhayco. I know that's not quite what you were asking but still.
