Rules

  • Your vote must be for your favourite theme / what you want to win
  • You have until 23:59 (BST) on 13/10/23 to vote.

Theme Explanations

*Techno & Artistic/Experimental Electronica - Artistic electronic music so may not necessarily have a big drop or sound 'dated'. It sounds a bit more atmospheric

*Celebrating the Rise of Woman & Non-Binary People in Music - To celebrate the rising levels of equality within the business. People could choose to submit either a classic dance vocalist, an early pioneer or one of the increasing numbers of female/non-binary DJs and producers who are becoming more prominent

Just in case it wasn't clear in the post above, you are voting for what you want to win. Have fun xo

We're still TBC on dates but this will mean that on Saturday you'll know what the next theme is for CB and can prepare your entry in advance (normal veto rules permitting ofc)

I’ve gone for women and non-binary as it feels more memorable to me as a celebratory edition. Plus I’m not sure what the other genre is exactly(!) - I suspect I’d like it if I understood it though as I generally approve of atmospheric music so if that wins then I think I’d still enjoy the contest

I like both, and hope to participate in both in the coming months.

But on this occasion went for techno and experimental electronica which sounds pretty intriguing.

I'll go for women and non binary to win but happy also with electronica. Both sound good for 25th theme.

Industrial was mine for what it's worth but the other two did sound better fit than that even ^_^

Tbh I'm not sure I really understand what 'artistic/experimental electronica' means even with the asterisk explanation but I have wanted a techno theme for ages so I voted for that x (but I do like the other idea a lot too so would be down for that also being done at some point)

Has everyone just been voting for Techno then and ignoring the other side of it? :P

Maybe the nominator would like to come forward and explain the electronica side further otherwise we will end up with a contest of just Techno

Saurrrrr... I envision the electronica side to be more the modern side of electronica with a bit of leeway how it is portrayed. This genre can be quite chill without too much buildup, thus focusing more on portraying the soundscape, as if you are soaking in all the acoustic greatness in the wild. Fikus, an entry I sent in BJSC at the start of last year, is a good example of this (marked as Polish electronica if I'm not mistaken). Another good example would be Eve.

Learning that description was written by uhsting suddenly makes a lot of sense :kink:

lol yes it does!

I'm still not totally sure I'll be confident that whatever I submit will be on theme or not but will give it a go nonetheless ^_^

^I tried to do that but people didn't want it #bitter -_- :kink:

I thought these two genres seemed a bit at odds with each other, but they are/sound like something I'd be into so willing to give it a go. Will probably need to scour r/listentothis!

I voted for 'Celebrating the Rise of Woman & Non-Binary People in Music'

Although I would also be a fan of 'Techno & Artistic / Experimental Electronica' which is essentially just the HATE YouTube channel, amirite?

That is basically what I thought too haha. (I'm sure I'd stan a contest that's just 20 songs from the HATE channel x)
