Question One

Answers That Have Points

No Points

Bryan Adams - (Everything I Do) I Do It For You:
roboplop (0 Points)

Harry Styles - As It Was:
PedroNL25 (0 Points)

The official 2023 song of the summer for the UK, 'Sprinter' by UK rappers Dave & Central Cee takes the crown for question one. The song debuted straight in at #1 back in June selling over 108,000 units in its first week after release. The mammoth has gone onto become platinum in the UK and still remains in the UK top 20 singles chart as I post this! Rihanna & Jay-Z's 2007 classic 'Umbrella' proved to be the 2nd most popular answer. Miley Cyrus's kind of gets her 'Flowers' as she takes joint 3rd place with her massive UK chart topper. Despite staying at the top of the UK singles chart for 10 weeks in 2022, Harry Styles' 'As It Was' fails to get mentioned in more than one participant's set of answers and ends up scoring 0 points. Bryan Adam's hugely overrated 16 week #1 single '(Everything I Do) I Do It For You' also gets no points, as you have probably guessed it didn't spend 10 weeks at #1 either.

Nate I sent you answers - did you not get them?

Edit - seems you did! Was worried as wasn’t in the participants list! :)

Indeed - was hoping the most reent would bag the points there! Quite surprised at the high score for Umbrella - must be particularly memorable for being there 10 weeks.

No Points

Cow-aki (0 Points)

Khalid - Silver Platter

Ryan Gosling - I'm Just Ken
rio309 (0 Points)

The Barbie soundtrack made a huge impact on the UK charts this summer, the soundtrack has two UK #1 singles and several other UK top 100 hits. The most popular answer here proved to be PinkPantheress' 'Angel' which is probably best known for its breakdown played by a fiddle.

rio309 (0 Points)

You Me At Six - Suckapunch
PedroNL25 (0 Points)

The Lottery Winners claimed their 1st UK #1 album earlier this year, beating the likes of Nines, The National and Jessie Ware to get the crown. The album also broke records as it dropped out of the albums top 200 by its 2nd week, 'Anxiety Replacement Therapy' is also the most popular answer for this question with Ben Howard's 2021 album 'Collections From The Whiteout' being the only other answer to get points from this category. The Vamps get two answers mentioning them but none of their albums have in fact left the top 100 after a week yet.

PeteFromLeeds (0 Points)

PinkPantheress' 2022 Willow collab 'Where You Are' is the most popular answer for this question! The single peaked at #58 in May last year and quickly fell off of the charts. Her most recent hit 'Mosquito' was also a very popular answer alongside one of her breakout hits 'Break It Off'. Anyone who knows the UK charts quite well would probably be able to tell you which two of the 0 points answers charted in the UK top 40....

Question Five

Name a UK top 5 album released under Jay-Z's label Roc Nation (Roc Nation must be credited as the album/mixtape/EP's label/co-label)

Answers That Have Points

Jay-Z 4:44
Ansel, Danæ, EliKillz, LewisGT, LiamSime, Math!, !!! (7 Points)

Jay-Z - The Blueprint 3
Dobbo, Julian T, Mack, Mangø, PeteFromLeeds, Riser (6 Points)

Rita Ora - Ora
Chrissmith276, Cow-aki, Dan17F1, PedroNL25, Sarah, ~1^∞ (6 Points)

Jay-Z & Kanye West - Watch The Throne
roboplop, xajnipi (2 Points)

No Points

Gunna - A Gift And A Curse
rio309 (0 Points)

Despite Roc Nation being best known for Jay-Z's music there have been a lot of notable releases under the label. One of those is Rita Ora's Ora which comes second, joint with Jay-Z's 'The Blueprint 3' which featured hits like 'Run This Town' and 'Empire State Of Mind'. Although it wasn't a top 5 album Rihanna's 'Anti' also gets quite a few nods. The only answer that gets no points is Gunna's horrendously bad recent album 'A Gift And A Curse' which was not in fact a top 5 album or released under Roc Nation.
Wow! Maximum points for every question so far! Hope it doesn’t go downhill in the latter part of the questions lol
