Oh my Amazon:

12+95 Wham

14+15 Mariah

73 Elton John

99 Ariana - Santa Tell Me

117 Buble

131 Band Aid

142 Jingle Bells Rock

194 Slade

Impossible to tell where they are combined but Mariah could even be close to #1 with 14+15 or maybe even #1 :o

She’s baaaack! Mariah is at #19 today, with Wham close behind at #24. I’m pretty sure this is the highest either has been on Nov 1st?

Also, White Christmas is the 4th highest XMas song, not this potentially up to its 2021 tactics again!

Oh my please OCC introduce a Xmas Chart and mover Mariah and Wham them forever :D
Genuinely can't understand how people can listen to Xmas songs from 1st Nov and not be absolutely sick of them by Christmas Day. At the very least pick some different ones to listen to instead of Mariah and Wham every year :(

Big shocks: this is the first time Wham! have charted globally or in US on Spotify on November 1st. In UK Last Christmas is closer to Mariah (20k v 27k) than this time last year with a 50% higher figure than last year. And yes - easily the highest they’ve both been November 1st.

And Brenda Lee could be in trouble - she’s not charted in the US, they seem to have replaced their love for her with Bing Crosby.

I never can with people starting Christmas on November 1st, there’s too much going on between now and Christmas Day to start now. The very same people probably think you have to stop listening after Christmas Day.

Xmas on Spotify!

19. Mariah

24. Wham!

102. Ariana Grande

104. Bing Crosby - White Christmas

134. Michael Buble - It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas

178. Kelly Clarkson

197. Bobby Helms

the case for a separate Christmas songs chart grows ever stronger by the year now.

not surprised that Mariah and Wham are charting higher than usual though seeing as streaming numbers are quite low in general. they’ll likely drop a fair bit now that the novelty of November commencing is over anyhow.

This is probably the biggest mess I've ever seen in Spotify playcounts. That combined unit, which currently has 1,354,862,029 plays, combines Bing Crosby's 'White Christmas' and most of Brenda Lee's 'Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree', but that's not all - it couldn't be, as they previously had 396m and 770m plays respectively, which falls well short of the total. Numerous other Bing Crosby songs are combined into it too, including 'It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas' (previously 128m plays), 'I'll Be Home For Christmas' (previously 73m) and 'Silver Bells' (previously 49m). A few less-popular songs from other artists are in it too, like Frank Sinatra's 'Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas' (not the most popular recording, which has 129m plays, but a different one which previously had 19m), Ella Fitzgerald's 'Christmas Island' (previously 8m) and Burl Ives' 'Christmas Child' (previously <1m). Additionally, Burl Ives' 'A Holly Jolly Christmas' seems to be combined sometimes, not on the main albums it's on but on some compilations - however its playcount hasn't dropped, so either very few streams are being siphoned there or it was already that way. All those numbers add up to well over 1,354m though, and why's that? Well, I said most of Brenda Lee's streams - she has spawned a separate figure of 155m plays that were previously combined (this is different to the re-recorded version that has 81m plays). So if you add up the numbers I mentioned (plus a couple more Bing Crosby songs) and subtract the 155m, you get into the right ballpark. Hopefully I got all that straight

N.B. if anyone has ever had the thought of "wow 'I Will Survive' has over a billion plays", that is incorrect and has somehow remained that way for over a year:

(Before that false combination happened, Gloria had 63m of those plays and Redbone had 343m.)

Oh Lord! Does this mean that when White Christmas is in the US Spotify charts, it should actually be Brenda Lee?

If it helps bring people joy then why not. Personally I'm with you, it feels off to hear them this early.

I believe it means that what's listed as 'White Christmas' is a combination of 'White Christmas', most* of 'Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree', and some less-popular songs.

* I assumed most since ~80% of her total plays are part of the combined unit (having previously had 770m with 155m of those now separated, again not including the re-recorded version that was never combined), however since yesterday (meaning plays on October 31 I believe), the combined unit gained 462,272 plays and Brenda's separate instance with 155m plays gained 116,588, so the combined unit might only be getting ~60% of her current plays? (In that she should have ~770m plays out of the combined unit's 1,354m + the separated 155m, which is about half, so if current plays are reasonably in proportion with all-time plays and she's also getting about half of the current plays, that should be ~295k, and 116k of those having gone to the separate instance leaves ~60% to be part of the combined unit.)

Lmao. I remember the streams for 'White Christmas' clearly being dodgy a couple of years ago too but how has it managed to swallow up the streams of another more popular Christmas song this time...? :') Hopefully it shouldn't stay like that at least...
You find that as each year passes lol find some unique Christmas songs for your playlist and listen to the classics when you can’t avoid them at parties and shopping etc
I absolutely do. I really want the playlists to be shuffled a bit so that the bigger songs (I get why they're not etc..) are more scattered throughout the playlist and gives other songs a chance. My dream is to have one of Tinashe's Christmas songs added to a playlist and she can finally chart with an excellent effort! 'God Rest ye Merry Gentlemen' or 'O Holy Night' deserve to be heard by the masses!!!

Also, I hope Britney can finally go top 40 this year with 'My Only Wish (This Year)'!
