November 3, 20232 yr I’m sorry but I don’t recognise this as an 11th NEW number 1 album for Taylor. It’s a resung version of her #1 album from 2015/16 and fundamentally shouldn’t be classed as another number 1. It’s making a mockery of the charts for me. Happy for any artist to gave success and fab sales, but this is debasing the charts. ThE OCC have got this wrong, alongside many other things.
November 3, 20232 yr With this logic, any cover versions that are smash hits shouldn’t count then? Cos they’re the same song just “resung”
November 3, 20232 yr But it’s an entirely new recording? Everything is new… it’s not just resung. All the production, instrumentals etx are all new and remade.
November 3, 20232 yr Daniel O'Donnell's run of having at least one new top 40 album every year since 1991 survives by the skin of its teeth :cheeseblock: I see the original '1989' still hanging on as high as #28, will be interesting now to see if this album ends up just permanently having 2 spots in the top 100 and/or if the original re-overtakes the Taylor's Version at some point, I think it'll be a tough ask for the large majority of the long tail streams of the big songs from the album to fully migrate to the new versions. This Is Halloween marked as a new entry  It is a new entry.
November 3, 20232 yr Made a mistake with Elfman - really thought it was a hit earlier but I guess not. :o They marked Rockwell as a new entry though, it charted two years ago, so wonder what's behind that one. Edited November 3, 20232 yr by Sour Candy
November 3, 20232 yr Daniel O'Donnell's run of having at least one new top 40 album every year since 1991 survives by the skin of its teeth :cheeseblock: How lucky he must be. He's got his work cut out next year to do it again then, time to stop playing it safe with trad Irish covers and get back down to the beach, where he was in 2021 for this opus. Far-FyJs1jA

I completely agree, it will not as a new No 1 in my records.
November 4, 20232 yr Do we know where Taylor's other tracks would have charted if they were eligible? I wanna know what peak I am saying 'Out Of The Woods' got!!!
November 4, 20232 yr Do we know where Taylor's other tracks would have charted if they were eligible? I wanna know what peak I am saying 'Out Of The Woods' got!!! All we know is this so far: On the Combined Tracks chart, where primary artist rules and ACR don’t exist, Swift has five tracks in the Top 10, 12 in the Top 20 and 22 in the Top 40.
November 4, 20232 yr All we know is this so far:Ooft! Thank you!! 12 in the top 20 and ALL of '1989 (Taylor's Version)' + 'Cruel Summer' (presumably all of '1989 (TV)' - unless 'Anti-Hero' kicked out 'You Are In Love'???) top 40 :cheeseblock:
November 4, 20232 yr Spare a thought for Style - missed out first time due to not being on streaming and now Style TV would be Top 10 but is starred out. Not only that but Style combined would be #2.
November 4, 20232 yr People are weirdly pressed about Taylor, your personal ‘records’ are meaningless. Ignoring facts is a worrying trend.
November 4, 20232 yr People have to be pretty obtuse in the head to not being able to tell apart a re-release from a re-recording but yes, continue living in your tiny little heads and count your own personal charts as the real charts :/
November 4, 20232 yr The charts have had issues for a long time, Taylor getting new no.1 albums with re-recordings isn’t really such a big deal considering. Having said that, people are so damn rude on this site. Saying people are ‘obtuse in the head’ or that they’re ‘ignoring facts and it’s a worrying trend’ my goodness do some of you not know how to speak to people at all? It may not be your opinion and you may think others are being silly but at the end of the day they’re just expressing how they feel and it’s literally hurting no one. Unlike the comments highlighted that are insulting and borderline disgusting. Shame on any of you participating.
