I don't think I've seen anyone mention Janis Joplin or Karen Carpenter, I'd say they were both very influential female singers

I think the biggest names have already been covered.

Keith Flint (Prodigy) came to mind though.

Pop Smoke, Nate Dogg, Takeoff, XXXTentacion & Coolio have been influential in rap for various reasons

Has Billy Fury been mentioned yet? Just looked him up after he appeared in Buzzjack's Favourite Male and impressively he charted as many hits in the 60s as The Beatles did, despite being nowhere near as well remembered now!

Oh, and also Paul Cattermole.

Mark Hollis, singer for the band Talk Talk.

Maybe you’re right. I would still welcome the suggestions though that others have because there’s always the possibility that a name either from recent times or from the last century might not have sprung to mind immediately.

One other resource I’ve found useful in working out those with “legendary” status is to look over all the various inductees of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame over the years, there are many former names within that record that haven’t been named here but whose contributions to music have been recognised officially.
