December 19, 20232 yr At least we have a race this time, that's a positive note. This said, the OCC needs to have a look at the rules because we can't get to the point that Alexa decides the charts, exclusive songs are fine but there must be a voluntary action by the user to play a particular song. How is it any different from a user selecting hot hits or said christmas playlist on spotify?
December 19, 20232 yr on playlists you can choose if you wanna start on song 1 or song 5 then play song 21 Alexa chooses for you and she can choose to play the same song 3 times every 30 minutes if Alexa wants to
December 19, 20232 yr on playlists you can choose if you wanna start on song 1 or song 5 then play song 21 Alexa chooses for you and she can choose to play the same song 3 times every 30 minutes if Alexa wants to Yes, but you can say “Hey. Play Christmas music”, and it will respond with “Ok. Playing the playlist called Christmas Hits, on Spotify”.
December 19, 20232 yr I say Wham will be very close to 60k maybe a little under or over next best will do well to get 50k
December 19, 20232 yr Yes, but you can say “Hey. Play Christmas music”, and it will respond with “Ok. Playing the playlist called Christmas Hits, on Spotify”. But it will still play a song only once on the playlist (and then starts over again)

I mean technically if ACR wasn't around, there are a number of Christmas songs ahead of Sam on Amazon that would push him out of the top 5/10 otherwise! Sam is only #8 on the amazon chart (IIRC Ellie Goulding was #1 on Amazon the week she went to #1). It would be really interesting to see just how big streams are for the other Christmas songs ahead of him/around the same position as him on Amazon. Edited December 19, 20232 yr by Envoirment

Jorja has one version but Alexa is pushing two versions for Sam.
December 19, 20232 yr As far as I can tell, the Pogues vinyl can only be pre ordered from one site and not available in the shops. That will obviously put it way behind Wham!
December 19, 20232 yr Sam is at #8 and #35. Jorja has one version but Alexa is pushing two versions for Sam. How the hell can Sam be #2 overall while only being #8 and #35 on one platform?
December 19, 20232 yr cos all the Christmas classics are on ACR so he only has to stream half as much
December 19, 20232 yr Sam was 5k behind on Monday last week and ended up 20k behind by the end of the week this week he is 4k behind so even second place looks a tough ask if we are being honest. (Maybe 1.5k nvm ignore this post) Edited December 19, 20232 yr by Liam sota
December 19, 20232 yr cos all the Christmas classics are on ACR so he only has to stream half as much I know but those other songs also have Spotify, Apple Music and iTunes as well as Amazon!! It just seems too unlikely that he could get so high, maybe if he was #1 by a wide margin on Amazon it’d be more believable
December 19, 20232 yr OCC wont do anything about Amazon exclusives Christmas songs as it is the only thing making the December charts interesting for them to make articles and headlines over.
December 19, 20232 yr So we're definitely looking at a two horse race between Wham! And Sam? I can't really envisage Sam getting it in any event.
December 20, 20232 yr Couldn't Alexa just move Sam up to the top of the Amazon playlist even for a few days like they did with Ellie? They'd get lot of publicity for that and get their first ever Christmas no.1?
December 20, 20232 yr The Amazon exclusives which went Top 40 all peaked in the week including Christmas itself, rather than this week. I suspect they ramp up the repeat plays over Christmas itself when people are too preoccupied to pay much attention to it, whereas if they did that now I think more people would become wise to it and skip every time.
December 20, 20232 yr Yes, for Alexa the biggest week is of course the week when the Christmas Day itself takes place, not the "Christmas chart week"
December 20, 20232 yr Why does Sam (or his management) want to see the receipts of people who buy or download the single? Don't they have that information anyway?
