October 1, 2024Oct 1 Would you like to go to Ukraine and explain why you think Putin should be allowed to get away with his invasion? Do you really think he would stop at Ukraine if he is allowed to keep even part of the territory invaded since 2022? The solution is to make a deal not prolong a senseless war. The issue a lot of people miss which I alluded to earlier a lot of neocons are happy with this predicament. If hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians die but it means weakening Russia they’re gleeful at this. War isn’t pretty, parts of Ukraine invaded had mass rapes of innocent people and the brutality isn’t one way either Ukrainian troops have committed some horrible acts. It should be in everyone’s interest to end the war and come to an agreement not find a way not to do it and that is the moral position without a doubt. I heard a lot of bad arguments about Afghanistan and in the end they wasted 20 years thousands of lives masses of people living without limbs for essentially nothing as the Taliban are back. This war is going to be the same way. It will end with Ukraine agreeing not to join NATO and Russia keeping Crimea and nothing more but first we have to waste trillions and lose hundreds of thousands of lives for some reason.
October 1, 2024Oct 1 The solution is to get Russia out of Ukraine. Any deal will be broken again in 10 years, when ir comed back for more snd from a more advantageous position. Dame thing happened with appeasement with Nazi Germany. Dictators cannot be trusted.
October 1, 2024Oct 1 Most intelligence suggests that if Putin had his way with Ukraine, the Kremlin wouldn't stop there. Russia is banking on the West giving up and then taking Ukraine, or at least installing a de facto dictator there. Pretty sure after that the next steps will be to gradually increase their territory in the East. Personally I don't think Ukraine should concede territory, but ultimately I think that may be the only way. I do think a solution to the war though is sooner than we think.
October 1, 2024Oct 1 Umm hmm mm hmm ... and did the US try and annex Cuba? I don't think so. Russia can drop its paranoia and stop invading its neighbours, and Nato would disappear. That's it. Ball's in Russia's court. Do you have to physically annex a country to control it? They basically dictated Cuban foreign policy and began economic warfare with the state.
October 1, 2024Oct 1 Lies. That comes from paranoia. Ruddia is so big due to the paranoia of its leaders, and the flat terrain, wsnting ro conquer snd expand, so other countries can't invade. It is why it still owns Dagestan, Checnia, Siberia, Chinese lands, etc. If it weren't aggressive, Nato would not be necessary. The fact that it has invaded Georgia and Ukraine, annexed territories, and wants Moldova, AND the Balkans, and hasn't returned Koningsberg, showd that Nato is necessary. Sooo... yeah. These right wing talking points, protecting autocratic Russia, are a sad joke, divorced from reality. Paranoia? It’s fact look at western US foreign policy since 1945 they control military power through nato, they control economic power through the Washington consensus with ‘world organisations’ like the IMF and the world bank which countries can join just as long as they implement austerity, defund public services and give in to the US right wing capitalist economic system. Youre the only one spouting right wing talking points here and yet you pretend to be left wing in other threads. Edited October 1, 2024Oct 1 by Steve201

It's why it's so big and has been for centuries ;) Rusdia needs to drop its aggression and rhat's ir. Nato is born out of Russia's hostility and history of conquering smaller neighbours.

The war will be ended as soon as Trump takes office if he wins, maybe even before if Biden allows him to speak to Putin. He's said he can end the war with one phone call. Let's see then. Wish he was in the Oval Office now to deal with Iran and Israel.
October 2, 2024Oct 2 After last nights debate the betting markets make this completely 50/50 again. I would agree with that too. Really fascinating last 30 or so days
October 2, 2024Oct 2 I didn’t realise we had a Russian bot on the website  Very easy for people to fall into roght wing echo chamberd these dayd and not even notice. He's judt parroring nonsense. And nope. Vance was destroyed in rhe debate.
October 2, 2024Oct 2 The Vance vs Walz debate, I'm going to watch it a bit when I get a chance but from reactions and clips the impressions I'm getting are that it seems a lot more even than the presidential debate, where undisputably it went better for Harris than Trump. This is mainly because if there's anything at all that Vance is good at as a VP candidate, and there isn't much, is that he's so clearly a politics bro debate lord and is able to hold his own here while perhaps Walz has been sanded down by the sorts of communicators in the Democratic camp that didn't understand how he got so popular and have been coaching him to do the same liberal overexplaining spew. If I'm majorly wrong on any of this I'll correct it after I've watched some. That said, the clips that I've seen have Vance putting his foot in it by not condemning Jan 6, pivoting, and complaining about being fact-checked. Most major result is a big increase in both VP candidates favourables, in Walz' case from slightly positive to very positive, and in Vance's case from majorly negative to slightly negative. Probably won't impact on the race more than that but given it's the last scheduled debate might have more impact on the campaigns than most VP debates. The war will be ended as soon as Trump takes office if he wins, maybe even before if Biden allows him to speak to Putin. He's said he can end the war with one phone call. Let's see then. This is the only social media I am on so I’m not in any echo chamber let alone the neo-con one you quote from!

October 2, 2024Oct 2 Neo-con?? I'm a leftodt who understands geopolitics! Sorry if your unreslistif, just tell Isrsel to stop! Just tell Russia to stop!, nonsense doedn't fly. Oh wait, you support Russia lol. Qnd we were tslking about the one who talks like a Russian bot
October 2, 2024Oct 2 Is anyone else lost here? I’m not sure who is actually responding to what at this point.
October 4, 2024Oct 4 Well I think Steve is Irish so is probably more familiar with the nuances of land disputes or people within certain borders feeling like they’re apart of a different country. Plenty of Americans I think even Donald Trump tended to support the IRA to some capacity which seemed absurd and ignorant given the terrorism but that’s how easily things can be perceived differently from different people. Ultimately the longer a conflict that relies on western money continues the more people will feel aggrieved they’re paying for it, this is just a provable fact. From what I can see Kamala is offering no end or no deal just we will continue to support Ukraine whereas Trump is at least claiming he’ll end the war and of the two I think the latter is a better sell for voters for sure. Not really sure how that’s a Russia bot POV unless you’re stuck in some Cold War mentality
October 4, 2024Oct 4 That’s the problem, if you give a anti western geopolitical POV some people just associate you with siding with Putin, or Tehran or Hamas. That couldn’t be further from the truth.
