Looks like body language vinyl is our next bit of chart excitement from Kylie.

What are your chart expectations for it?

In regards to a first time on vinyl release of an old studio album, there isn’t really a direct comparison from recent years, because Impossible Princess had 4 variants and Body Language only has 1. It’s impossible (pun not intended!) to know how many people bought multiple copies of Impossible Princess or how well it might have done if it had just been 1 version. Going back to Light Years in 2018 isn’t a very fair comparison either because that wasn’t a preorder, that mainly had 1 day of availability in Sainsbury’s.

I’ll be interested to see how Body Language does, but it’s likely it would do better if it had more than just the red vinyl. I read that we weren’t getting black until the red had sold out, which could mean it’ll just be the red vinyl in release week.

My gut feeling is that it’ll miss the Top 20 and sell 3,000+ in the 21-30 area of the chart. In theory you’d think it being a first pressing would make it more desirable than the Kylie repressing even though it had 2 versions. Having said that, Body Language isn’t exactly a celebrated Kylie album. We’ll see!

top 10.

should get around 2k pre-orders and also isn't there another variant coming?

Apparently if correct the red is a ‘limited’ run for release and will be replaced by a black variant so at the moment it looks like we may only have 1 vinyl for release?

There doesn’t seem to be a whole lot of excitement for this release and 1 version will certainly hinder it (it’s not like it’ll be boosted by streaming etc.,).

I think it’ll start off strongly but end up at the lower end of the Top 30.

Can’t see it selling enough to trouble the top 20….but for a while it was showing as having 1000 plus sales on Amazon so if they’re UK sales that’s a good indicator.

I think it should start the week top 10, possible top 5 but low top 30 by the end of the week at best.

Its not Kylies most celebrated album by any means and with only 1 variant which will probably be sold out before its even released will limit its success.

I think Top 30 is the best outcome but should open the week inside the Top 10.

Any last minute predictions? I hope it's at least within the midweek Top 10, even Top 5?

'Kylie' (self-titled debut) started out at midweek #3 on Monday with 3,050, and ended up at #30 on Friday with 3,675 sales.

Recent sales needed to be in the Top 5 in the Monday midweeks:

12th Feb: 2,894

19th Feb: 3,737

26th Feb: 3,482

4th March: 5,412

New releases:

Ariana Grande - Eternal Sunshine

Bananarama - Glorious: The Ultimate Collection

Bleachers – Bleachers

Dion – Girl Friends

Girls Aloud - What Will The Neighbours Say? (20th Anniversary Deluxe Edition)

Grace Petrie - Build Something Better

Judas Priest - Invincible Shield

Kim Gordon - The Collective

Livingston - A Hometown Odyssey [DOWNLOAD ONLY]

Loreena McKennitt - The Road Back Home

Norah Jones – Visions

Ricki-Lee - On My Own [DOWNLOAD ONLY]

Sarah Jane Morris - The Sisterhood

Tom McRae - Étrange Hiver

Midweek #11! Hmm, not sure how well this is likely to hold up. Top 40 could be difficult.

I was sure it would be top 10 today so as its 11 I think it might struggle to stay top 40 as most of its sales are already in the bag.

I’m not overly shocked as there just hasn’t been the excitement for this release (even though it’s one of the best re-issues Parlophone have done in terms of effort!).

There are quite a few fans that have had orders delayed or cancelled by Amazon so there could be a few sales still to come but Top 40 will be a challenge especially as I’m sure the album gets next to no streams or downloads each week.

Hopefully there are a few more sales to come that might help it stay top 40, its likely its probably done about 2-2.k at the moment and another couple of sales would help it stay top 40. This releases bring no chart pressures they are just added bonuses but as many of us have said the excitement just wasnt there for this release despite it being a decent re-issue. Maybe if they had added 1 or 2 songs from the vaults as a bonus it would have incentivized a few more fans.
I think it only having one vinyl variant makes it hard to compare to her previous reissues. Impossible Princess got four variants! 'Kylie' had two. Who knows how Body Language would have done had it also had multi variants. I don't think it's really an "excitement" issue. Those who want to collect Kylie on vinyl will surely get it... but there's only so far that one variant can carry her in the charts.
There were three copies in Birmingham Bull Ring HMV earlier….looked good.
