Crazy to think if Rihanna had a greatest hits album it’d probably have never left the top 5 in the charts considering the number of streams she still gets daily; likely could have become the biggest seller album of the 2020s..

Ah, I didn't realise it came out that long ago, I guess that would make sense then if it had just previously been racking up sales without appearing in the chart. I find it hard to believe its sudden appearance in the chart was due to a genuine increase in consumption though, I think it must have just not had its numbers calculated correctly before that for some reason. I remember that happened with 'Baby Shark' too, its YouTube views didn't count to its chart sales for a few weeks.

Yeah, it’s possible there was a delay in how the numbers were counted. Similar to what happened with 'Baby Shark,' chart numbers can sometimes be off due to technical issues or changes in how streams/views are tracked. By the way, if you're thinking of celebrating with something special, a custom graduation gift could be a great idea!

There are a few albums released this year that have gone silver but nonetheless dropped out recently:

21 Savage - American Dream

D-Block Europe - Rolling Stone

Future & Metro Boomin’ - We Don’t Trust You

Liam Gallagher & John Squire

If Sabrina released a few months earlier probably could have got #2

“Guts” is only doing about 4.5k per week, so if Coldplay have done 237k they could enter at #5 even.

Beatles 1967-1970 (Blue) re-entered the Top 75 this week. Has this helped it to move up the Top 100 YTD?

I suppose Beatles 1 lies beyond the Top 100 positions?

Yes I wonder if there was a spike in physical sales for the blue album and whether it will just switch back next week again.

Blue album moved 78-77 in the YTD this week.

Red album moved 97-99.

“1” has never appeared in the YTD Top 100 this year.

Album sales are doing a lot better this year, we’ve got already twice as many albums having cleared 200k compared to the last two years. We’ve had a bumper year for music which helps, but I get the feeling they are slowly lifting up in general.

On iTunes today,

Beatles 1 at no. 45

Beatles 1967-1970 at no. 80

So it will probably flip again this week.

Beatles 1962-1966 at no. 121. But I guess it really needs loads of streams to remain in the Top 100 YTD listing.
