Biography

Armed with a mesmerizing, nimble soprano—and a vocal register often likened to Mariah Carey’s and Christina Aguilera’s—Ariana Grande began her career as a child star on Broadway and Nickelodeon before transforming into a pop and R&B powerhouse. Instantly recognizable thanks to her signature ponytail, cat ears, babydoll dresses, and breezy self-confidence, her slyly sexual personal brand has, like that of the Spice Girls before her, become an iconic image of young female power. But Grande is more than a symbol: Over the course of several albums and scores of hit singles—beginning with 2013’s “The Way” (featuring Mac Miler) through The Weeknd-assisted “Love Me Harder” and “Break Free” (featuring Zedd)—she has consistently outshined her male collaborators and deftly parlayed her stardom into activism. An LGBTQ advocate and outspoken feminist (“I’m tired of living in a world where women are mostly referred to as a man’s past, present, or future PROPERTY,” she tweeted in 2016), she uses her platform to confront issues like misogyny, sexism, homophobia, and bullying, spreading a message of love over all. Nowhere was this more clear than in May 2017: After terrorists attacked her concert in Manchester, England, killing 22 and injuring hundreds, Grande continued her tour. "Perspective changes your life,” she told Beats 1’s Ebro Darden. "You want to stay in the moment and try not to give into fear, because obviously the whole point of finishing the tour was being there for my fans. You want to set the same example and keep going.” And that she did: Her Max Martin-produced smash “No Tears Left to Cry,” an escapist dance-floor triumph released a year after the attack, sends a message of hope and healing, with a dose of hear-me-roar attitude. - Apple Music

Biography

“I still wanna be one of the greats,“ rapper Jack Harlow tells Apple Music about his commitment to his craft. “I’m very ambitious about this. And I think I have what it takes to really make a mark because I love the art.” Harlow, born in 1998 in Kentucky, is well on his way to turning that dream into reality. Growing up in Louisville, Harlow started writing and rapping at the age of 12 and released his bouncy first EP before graduating from school in late 2015. Since his more fully realised mixtape, 18, dropped in 2016, Harlow has continued to inject his chill party rap and poppy beats with “addictive, candy-coated qualities,” as he described it to Apple Music. “It’s good on the ears.” With 2017’s Gazebo, he established a more mature sound, moodily riding through his hometown with the intense “Dark Knight” and keeping things dreamy using synth pulses on the regret-laden “Wasted Youth”. It’s a vibe he honed on multiple mixtapes in the late 2010s, keeping with a feel he says is representative of Louisville—smooth and laidback—while exploring elements of trap, which is native to his adopted home base of Atlanta. With every beat on 2020’s punchy, swaggering Sweet Action, Harlow moved closer to the place he sees as his inevitable destination: “On top.” - Apple Music

Biography

Singer-songwriter Teddy Swims found himself on the path towards self-forgiveness when he started putting pen to paper for his debut studio album, I’ve Tried Everything But Therapy (Part 1). Though he’s released music and toured the world since making his debut in 2019, the 31-year-old Georgia-born artist has spent much of the last four years writing his way towards an album that would tell this story – his story – to the people who were ready to receive it. An emotionally walloping and deeply resonant body of work to be released in multiple parts – much like Teddy’s own journey of self-discovery – I’ve Tried Everything But Therapy (Part 1) is an album about diving headfirst into healing without any floatation devices. It finds Teddy working out some very big, very real issues through his music. “Now I’m watching people connect with the messages and stories and realizing not only are the songs helping me, but they’re also helping them too,” he says. “It feels like all that work on the back end, all that internalizing, is finally making a difference. [..] My debut album is an honest look into my mental health journey. I believe therapy could really be beneficial to myself and anyone willing to take the steps to heal. But, for some reason I still have something holding me back. I know there are answers to the questions I’m not ready to ask myself. This album is my first step towards being vulnerable about this journey and the steps I need to take to heal." - Spotify

'Lose Control' really does not feel like as big of a hit as it has actually been so far, although expecting Heart to start spamming it any day now.
Really good to see both Justin Timberlake and Michael Marcagi go top 40. Loving YG Marley, hope that goes much further. And hoping that Chance Pena made the top 100.

Biography

Sophie Ellis-Bextor had her first breakouts as the frontwoman for the ‘90s Britpop act TheAudience and as a duet partner for Manic Street Preachers. Yet the English singer—who was born in a London suburb in 1979—found her true calling as a dance-pop diva when she contributed vocals to “Groovejet (If This Ain’t Love),” an ebullient house track by DJ Spiller that became a No. 1 single in the UK in 2000. Ellis-Bextor continued her momentum with 2001’s “Murder On the Dancefloor” and many more hits that showcased her irresistible blend of wit, effervescence, and vulnerability, along with her unabashed love of disco. Her penchant for old-school grandeur is just as strong on later releases like 2019’s The Song Diaries, a collection of newly recorded orchestral versions of her hits, including a take on “Groovejet” that’s worthy of a James Bond soundtrack. - Apple Music

Biography

As Noah Kahan changes, he casts those experiences onto songs like light through a film projector. At the core of the music’s upbeat energy and unfiltered lyrics, you’ll hear who he was before and who he became — almost in real-time. The Vermont singer still pens songs straight from the heart and still cracks jokes with his signature, self-deprecating sense of humor; he’s just changed in all of the right ways (and chronicled them via his songwriting). He gained that understanding through quite the journey from small town Vermont to global renown. He’s racked up over one billion streams, released two full length albums (Busyhead, 2019 and I Was/I Am, 2021) and a mid-pandemic EP (Cape Elizabeth, 2020), picked up a Gold Certification for “Hurt Somebody” feat. Julia Michaels, and performed on television shows such as The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, The Kelly Clarkson Show, Jimmy Kimmel Live, Late Night with Seth Meyers, and TODAY. Not to mention, he’s collaborated with everyone from Joy Oladokun to Chelsea Cutler to mxmtoon to Quinn XCII to Gryffin. After 5 years of critical acclaim and global touring, he sought an even purer style of writing and arrangement, a challenge from within to convey a vivid representation of what he loves, fears, and struggles with most passionately. Now, Noah continues to progress with his highly anticipated new album Stick Season out now. - Spotify

Jazzy is no stranger to the dance music scene. Having already graced massive collaborations with the likes of Irish dance-duo Belters Only on their hit singles “Make Me Feel Good” and “Don’t Stop Just Yet,” Jazzy’s entrance into the music world is one that has turned heads and connected internationally. With over 1.2million monthly listeners on Spotify, as well as a top five Platinum certified single in the UK, it looks as though this will be the year that finds Jazzy bringing Irish house music to the masses. Having already built a community around her sound through consistent releases of her “GEWAH” DJ mixes on Soundcloud, the release of “Giving Me” see’s Jazzy entering a new sonic chapter; one that will see her create a musical legacy of her own. - udiscovermusic

Dean Lewis

Memories

170x170bb.jpg

3rd single from forthcoming studio album

Released: 1st February 2024

Label: Island Records Australia

Video

Biography

There’s something about Dean Lewis that feels absolutely unguarded. That’s due in equal part to his confessional yet oh-so-relatable lyrics and to the palpable quiver in his singing when his songs hit an emotional climax, as introduced on his breakout 2016 debut single “Waves.” Born Dean Lewis Grant Loaney in Sydney in 1987, Lewis wasted no time making sure that sudden success was no fluke. After the humble tune went multi-platinum in Australia and landed key placement on some high-profile American TV shows, Lewis topped it with 2018’s “Be Alright.” The lead single from his debut album, A Place We Knew, it sits at more of a simmer by comparison but still slides right under the skin, earning high spots on charts around the world. He also became an Apple Music Up Next honoree in 2019. Despite citing the influence of Oasis and Bruce Springsteen alike, Lewis often keeps his songs at a confiding quietness rather than at an anthemic roar. True to form, his heartsick second album, 2022’s The Hardest Love, feels even more personal still: see “How Do I Say Goodbye,” an autobiographical ballad about his father’s cancer diagnosis. And on 2023’s “In a Perfect World,” he duets with in-demand US songwriter Julia Michaels to wring even more emotion from the barest of elements. “It comes out so different and unique,” Lewis told Apple Music about collaborating with Michaels. “The lyrics say exactly what you want to say.” - Apple Music

Yeah. Groovejet was #1 in August 2000.

It should be set to go to ACR 2 weeks from now, although it'll likely remain in the top 40 anyway

She resumes her tour in 5 days though
