I didn't realise with my post the other day that the deadline was so soon already whoops but I did still find a moment to have a quick listen through the songs that I'm not so familiar with/didn't recognise on the list. That included another fun moment of discovering the artist of a song that I know well but never knew what it was (Rainbow - Since You've Been Gone, tbf I don't think I've heard that for many years until now!)

After that I initially culled the list down to 21 songs so had to add 4 back in oops! Tbf I'd forgotten it was a top 25 rather than a top 15 so was culling a bit aggressively.

Finishing last in this semi-final is Jason's wild card. The song was released in 2021 and samples 'Alors On Danse' by Belgian musician Stromae.

Next is chrissmith276's wild card. First released in 2017, it was Lewis Capaldi's debut single. It wasn't a top 40 hit until 2019.

'Out Out' out first :kink: how it's fallen since beating ABBA to #1 in the Reshuffle

51. N-Trance - Forever 108pts

Writer - Kevin O'Toole

Top points - jimwatts 18, Cow P 18, Alex! 14

The three wild cards occupy the bottom three places. This was Sempachorra's but he didn't vote this time. N-Trance are a group formed in Oldham in 1990 by Kevin O'Toole and Dale Longworth. Forever was their fifth and final top 10 single.

Forever was spammed by Radio 1 so much at the time that I didn’t want to hear it again forever. ;)

Bruises is pretty good, as are all the singles from Lewis’s debut.

Just realised I initially included N-Trance in my shortlist because I confused it with 'Set You Free' for some reason but then forgot to give it a listen when I realised it was a song I actually don't know very well oops, sorry if that resulted in me denying it points :teresa: (not that it'd make any difference x).

'OUT OUT' is certainly the right song to finish last (or at least bottom 3) ~ I have a mild soft spot for 'Bruises', one of the better Capaldi hits.

50. Amii Stewart - Knock On Wood 109pts

Writers - Eddie Floyd, Steve Cropper

Top points - AH Gold 23, Leonardo 19, King Rollo 18

Knock On Wood was first recorded by Eddie Floyd in 1966. He had written the song with Steve Cropper during a lightning storm which inspired the lyrics about thunder and lightning. Amii Stewart's disco version was a US number 1 in 1979. In the UK, it was a top 10 hit in that year and again as a remix in 1985. Amii is Sinitta's aunt.

49. Alesso featuring Tove Lo - Heroes (We Could Be) 129pts

Writers - Alessandro Lindblad, Ebba Nilsson, David Bowie, Brian Eno

Top points - Jason 23, coi 22, Cow P 17

From 2014, this was the fourth top 40 hit for the Swedish DJ. He performed the song at last year's UEFA Champions League Final. The featured singer, Tove Lo, still has a song coming in the second semi-final.

'Knock On Wood' is the first of my votes out, albeit only a 1 pointer! I think I've heard the original once before but definitely prefer it in this disco iteration.

Snap - also 1 point to Knock On Wood and nothing to the others hehe! It’s a really inspired cover I think.

Alesso/Tove Lo is another one of the ones that I'd have been quite happy to see come last. Tove Lo has lots of good songs, this is not one of them.

Don't think I'd heard 'Knock On Wood' before last night but it sounded decent.

Holddd meeee foreverrrrr *.* what a tune :music:

Just realised the 8 points I gave to 'Bruises' helped it not come last! No losses besides those for me.
