February 9, 20242 yr Author Not fussed about any of the newbies today. I'm surprised they're sitting on Yungblud and Nothing But Thieves, they're usually all over new releases by both of those! Are they really going to introduce that Luke Dean song on the radio as 'Get Hard'?!
February 9, 20242 yr That might be the worst A-list I’ve seen in a while - at least half the songs there I have no interest in. That Luke Dean song is a bit of a tune though.
February 9, 20242 yr Will have to check out the newbies on the playlist. The only one I've heard is YG Marley. Be interesting to see if Reggae inspired songs take off on the back of the success of this.
February 9, 20242 yr Yep the Luke Dean track is being announced by its actual title. It was Arielle's Tune of the Week a few weeks back and has been a regular on the morning Radio 1 Dance shows for a while. Barry Can't Swim is a great addition, though perhaps one of the weakest tracks from the album. February 9, 20242 yr Nice add for Barry Can't Swim and also looking forward to checking out the new Little Simz EP, good to see her getting an instant add. Not crazy about the other new adds that I've heard although the Michael Marcagi one has grown on me a little. Good to see Blanco moving up ~ Surprised no one has commented yet on 'Popular' being back via the recurrents playlist x BTW I noticed while catching up on R1 adds the other day that the title for the Belters Only song is wrong, it's just 'Life Lesson' without the S at the end.
February 9, 20242 yr Has anyone managed to work out roughly how many plays a song on the Recurrents list gets in a week? They average 1-2 plays each day on shows where the playlist is in effect (excluding First Look for instance). Noah and Sophie last week: Stick Season - 7 plays Murder on the Dancefloor - 11 plays Murder on the Dancefloor has also received the "power intro" treatment despite not being on the A/B/C rotation which is a first too. February 9, 20242 yr Author BTW I noticed while catching up on R1 adds the other day that the title for the Belters Only song is wrong, it's just 'Life Lesson' without the S at the end. Thanks, not sure if that was my fault or it was originally wrong on the website, but now corrected. Murder on the Dancefloor has also received the "power intro" treatment despite not being on the A/B/C rotation which is a first too. What's the "power intro" treatment? I'm not sure I'm familiar with it. I seem to be listening to R1 less and less these days!

February 9, 20242 yr Yeh it’s basically at the top of the hour the first song they play while introducing the show/station. Basically it’s also the most played track on the playlist too with 25-28 spins a week. Poor additions to the A list 2 songs that have been around ages and peaked chart wise. Woho for Usher keeping the 90s artists flag flying, any other 90s artists still getting on the playlist anyone know? Coldplay? Eminem? Also like the adds for Little Simz(they love her), YG Marley The Snuts and Barry Can’t Swim - my fav single off the album! Wow at New Dad and Tems getting 5 weeks on the C List!

I do enjoy the power intros, though I did prefer them before they updated the imaging. Now they seem to be quite similar with only one or two different voices, while previously I’m sure there were quite a few voices used. If anyone is geeky enough to care…
