Djo #85 on Apple, saying 'new' next to it so appears it wasn't top 200 at all this time yesterday, that's a massive entry! Rare to see a song that's not a brand new release climbing this fast on Apple.

I generally agree with this, but you bring up Adele and she missed #1 with Skyfall at a time when she was the biggest pop star I've ever seen. And it's a great song too. It still did really well overall though, just not a #1 somehow.

Skyfall was considered somewhat of a commercial underperformance at the time IIRC

I don't think it was a huge underperformance for 'Skyfall' to miss #1. Prior to that, she'd only ever had one #1, and the single immediately before that peaked at #11, so I think 'Skyfall' peaking at #2 and spending 6 weeks in the top ten was fine. Yes, I probably would have expected it to climb to #1 on its second week but as Riser says, it was up against some big competition that week.

It is a shame that Skyfall missed #1 given it’s excellent and then the incredibly mid Writing on the Wall made #1. Skyfall definitely deserved to be the first Bond #1 over that.
Didn’t Skyfall only miss #1 because it came out on the Friday (when charts used to be on a Sunday)?

Set Fire to the Rain only had a low peak because literally everybody had already bought the album though, Skyfall was very hyped up as her first release post-21 and a James Bond soundtrack at that. I think people were expecting a “Hello” style smash and while it was a big hit it wasn’t at the level most people expected.

Yes, and then there was not enough steam for her on her first "real" week.

I've been fairly out of the loop over the last few days, what is a Djo?

Joe Keery from Stranger Things. The song's been out for a while on his album but it's blowing up on TikTok apparently!

I knew of Djo before I ever heard the name Joe Keery but that's just me paying absolutely zero attention to TV as usual :sarah:

Same, although I've seen Stranger Things

Dua Lipa - "Training Season" now up to #9 on Apple Music & #9 on the Amazon prime chart. Still slowly climbing on both which is a really good sign!

Also a song to keep an eye on to become a hit:

Dylan Gossett - "Coal"

Apple Music: #58 (been slowly climbing up the last week or so)

Spotify: #184 (re-enters the chart today)

Climbed into the top 75 in last week's chart. Should climb some more this week with its climb on Apple Music and what looks to be re-entering/climbing on spotify. Can't seem to find the song on the Amazon chart top 500, will keep an eye out.

UMG pulling their music from Tik Tok is seemingly helping those that aren't on that label, as expected. People will just use other songs to promote their videos!

I get that they are fighting for a fairer pay and things but people won't be downloading or streaming a song they don't hear a snippet of in a Tik Tok video until they've come across it in some way and considering Tik Tok is the most useful promotional tool at the moment...

Does Spotify just not fancy updating today then

2 Beyonce 502K

3 Benson 459K

7 (11) Djo

14 Dua-Training Season 240K
