February 19, 20241 yr OUCH at J Lo, not even top ten in the first update... I dread to think where it'll end up come Friday, can't see it staying top 40! (I also gave it a listen and it's really not very good). Great to see Paloma start at #2, really hope she holds it, but let's wait for the sales info! Cast will end up top 30, similar to Kula Shaker last week who also started in the top 10, still not bad going for them though, for a largely forgotten 90s Britpop band. February 19, 20241 yr Let's be honest at the time it was bigger for Beyonce to be on an Ed single than it was for him. He was at his all time high then and she was not where she is now or early 2000s. I don’t think Beyoncé’s star has ever dimmed since her DC days. Sure, she wasn’t hitting the top of the UK chart but her level of acclaim has only risen since her self-titled album.
February 19, 20241 yr Agree Beyoncé has gone from being a huge commercial star to being not quite so huge but critically acclaimed, which is interesting as I think many big artists go the other way if anything and are perceived to “sell out”.
February 19, 20241 yr I don’t know why anybody’s surprised about JLo when her last album only reached #41 here! It’s a shame, the album is really good, but even at her peak she was never a very big album seller here
February 19, 20241 yr Great to see IDLES ahead of Paloma, hopefully they're far enough ahead of Noah to be secure at #1!
February 19, 20241 yr Official Chart Update Full update in this post, click the arrow to go to it! No sales for Benson sadly. I agree with No Sleeep about J-Lo - I had no real expectations for her to chart that highly. Her last top 10 album was 13 years ago, and even On the Floor being gigantic and another top 10 in I'm Into You couldn't get Love? to go platinum. Multiple formats can only make so much difference, and it's not like she's had any singles success in a long time. Shame, as I think it's a strong, consistent album!
February 19, 20241 yr bey unsurprisingly at #1, but dua still high at #2. hopefully she can hold on to top 3 by end of the week! and djo in at #31. i reckon itll be top 20 at least by friday! im loving the song, yay for it being a hit!
February 19, 20241 yr Great to see IDLES at #1! Much higher than I was expecting for Crawlers too. No3 :o
February 19, 20241 yr What’s the craic with the Bob Marley GHs, is the one for the new film in the compilation chart? If so will Legend sell a lot more with the film out?
February 19, 20241 yr Think that does look like a secure #1 for IDLES, hooray *.* pretty good sales for both them and Paloma, they've already beaten the opening of their last album and Paloma should do similar numbers to her last.
February 19, 20241 yr Be interesting to see how much Djo can climb by Friday, given its streaming seems to be rapidly increasing by the day
February 19, 20241 yr Ugh, can somebody please stop that Kygo + Ava Max thing? :puke2: diamonds & dancefloors was filled to the brim with bangers, and this shit is her hit??? im so annoyed lol
February 19, 20241 yr diamonds & dancefloors was filled to the brim with bangers, and this shit is her hit??? im so annoyed lol Its annoying that there are a shed load of amazing dance songs out... and its this pile of sh!te that gains popularity. Even for a Kygo song its bad
February 19, 20241 yr Ugh, can somebody please stop that Kygo + Ava Max thing? :puke2: haha agree. I really the production but NOT the song it's sampling/re-doing/interpreting or whatever. OG is still tired, stale. Not the kind of song that was a big-huge hit back in the day yet obscure enough to warrant a 'fresh take' (like 'Higher Love' which was fresh, unique, stellar). This is more like his re-working 'Hot Stuff' lol & some of his others that fell flat. Nothing really special or next level about this. Edited February 19, 20241 yr by JK1
February 19, 20241 yr Whatever is amazing, hope it can eventually go top 10 x This!! In the very minority but I totally agree
February 19, 20241 yr Let's be honest at the time it was bigger for Beyonce to be on an Ed single than it was for him. He was at his all time high then and she was not where she is now or early 2000s. You are totally right. Most of the replies you get forget that the remix with Beyonce only accounted of 18% of the total sales in the first of its release. So No, He did her a favour at that time and not the other way around
