Biography

Beyoncé Giselle Knowles-Carter (/biˈɒnseɪ/ ⓘ bee-ON-say; born September 4, 1981) is an American singer, songwriter and businesswoman. Dubbed as "Queen Bey" and a prominent cultural figure of the 21st century, she has been recognized for her artistry and performances, with Rolling Stone naming her one of the greatest vocalists of all time. As a child, Beyoncé started performing in various singing and dancing competitions. She rose to fame in the late 1990s as a member of the R&B girl group Destiny's Child, one of the best-selling girl groups of all time. Their hiatus saw the release of Beyoncé's debut album, Dangerously in Love (2003). She then followed with the US number-one solo albums B'Day (2006), I Am... Sasha Fierce (2008), and 4 (2011). After creating her own management company Parkwood Entertainment, Beyoncé achieved critical acclaim for the experimental visual albums Beyoncé (2013) and Lemonade (2016), which explored themes such as feminism and womanism. With her queer-inspired dance album Renaissance (2022), she became the first female artist to have their first seven studio albums debut at number one in the US. Beyoncé's most successful songs on the Billboard Hot 100 include "Crazy in Love", "Baby Boy", "Check On It", "Irreplaceable", "If I Were a Boy", "Halo", "Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)", "Drunk in Love", "Break My Soul" and "Cuff It". She is the only woman in history to have at least 20 top 10 hits as a solo artist, and at least 10 as a member of a group. Her collaborative music ventures include Everything Is Love (2018), an album with her husband and rapper Jay-Z, released as the Carters, and the musical film Black Is King (2020), inspired by the music of the film soundtrack The Lion King: The Gift (2019). Homecoming: The Live Album (2019), which documents her 2018 Coachella performance, has been heralded as a historic live album for its tribute to multiple generations of Black music. Outside of music, she has starred as an actress in films such as Austin Powers in Goldmember (2002), The Pink Panther (2006), Dreamgirls (2006), Cadillac Records (2008), Obsessed (2009), and The Lion King (2019). Having sold 200 million records worldwide, Beyoncé is one of the best-selling music artists of all time. Her accolades include a record 32 Grammy Awards, as well as 26 MTV Video Music Awards (including the 2014 Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award), 24 NAACP Image Awards, 35 BET Awards, and 17 Soul Train Music Awards – all of which are more than any other artist in the music industry. Her success during the 2000s earned her recognition as the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA)'s Top Certified Artist of the Decade and Billboard's 4th best artist of the decade. She is the most successful black touring act in history and received the Pollstar Touring Artist of the Decade award in 2021. Time included her as one of the 100 women who defined the 21st century. - Wikipedia

Benson :cheeseblock: unlucky to run into Beyoncé just as his previous competitors head to ACR but what a great outcome regardless! :cheer: (and glad Wednesday's update proved to be misleading)

Very strong showing for Beyoncé and looks like it's still increasing on Spotify! I like the track, though have only heard it on the chart + First Look so far so need to spend a bit more time with it.

Biography

Talking to Apple Music in early 2020, Selena Gomez said the point when her career really started to shift was when she shot the 2012 movie Spring Breakers. Even if she hadn’t spent the first part of her life as a Disney kid, the movie—guns, drugs, so on—would’ve been the kind of deep-end leap that pop stars tend to be conditioned away from. Selena Gomez is famous. But she’s also a survivor of fame, a candid chronicler of mental health whose best music—“Lose You to Love Me,” “Back to You,” Dance Again”—has brought a degree of frankness to mainstream pop that feels both refreshing and necessary. “I think that’s how I’ve continued to have a career,” Gomez said. “I’m very okay with speaking about myself. I think that’s truly what has sustained me. And I don’t do it purposefully, I do it because it’s necessary for me.” Born in 1992, Gomez grew up poor outside Dallas, making her way into the Disney machine in her mid-teens, becoming the most-followed—and probably most-scrutinized—person on Instagram by her early twenties. She started releasing music with her band The Scene in 2009, going solo in 2013 with Stars Dance. By 2015’s Revival, she’d taken greater control over both her image and songwriting, leaning into a comfortable dance-pop sound that didn’t chase trends. In 2020, she released Rare, an album on which she not only cowrote every track but served as executive producer. She’d also taken a two-year break from social media—a career risk, but a personal necessity. “I was so much happier with just me, myself, how I looked, and that helped a lot,” Gomez told Apple Music. “I just needed to let my old self go.” - Apple Music

Biography

Oakley Neil H T Caesar-Su (born June 4, 1998), professionally known as Central Cee, is an artist hailing from Shepherds Bush, West London and is proving himself to be one of London’s most exciting emerging artists. Impressing with his short freestyles from as young as 14-years old, Cench originally fell under the trapwave genre through his use of autotune and melodies, as shown on his early 2017 EP 17, and “Next Up?” freestyle. It was through the drop of his singles “Day In The Life” and “Molly” in June 2020, as well as his Mad About Bars Freestyle in August 2020, in which Cench “found his voice” – gliding along 808 bass lines, stuttering hats, and slick cascading flows that add polish to his gritty street-level narration making him one to watch. He garnered major popularity in October 2020 after dropping his single “Loading” which shot him into the limelight – entering at Number 19 on the UK Top 20 Single Charts. Central Cee’s full-debut mixtape Wild West was released on March 12 2021. The project contains the aforementioned singles, as well as “Pinging (6 Figures)”, “Commitment Issues”, “6 for 6” and “Fraud”. Posing as a critical and commercial success, it debuted at Number 2 on the UK Album Charts. He capped off his 2021 by winning the GRM Daily Rated Award for Breakthrough Artist of the Year and Male Artist of the Year. In February 2022, Cench’s sophomore mixtape 23 was released. The project features his September 2021 PinkPantheress sampled viral single “Obsessed With You”, a track in which entered the UK Top 10 Singles Chart at #4. The mixtape also marked Cench’s very first Number 1 project as it debuted on the UK Official Charts at the very top. In July 2022, Cench linked up with renowned American director and founder of Lyrical Lemonade, Cole Bennett and dropped the single “Doja”. In the short time of the snippet being released, the single became a viral sensation and Cench’s biggest song to date. In October 2022, Cench dropped the four-track EP No More Leaks as a surprise, being accompanied by the projects leading single “One Up” hours before to battle the plethora of leaks that were happening a week prior. In June 2023, Cench released “Sprinter” with South London MC Dave, quickly shooting to Number 1 in the UK Singles Chart, becoming Cench’s very first. The duo also broke records as the single racked up 13.4 million streams in a week, becoming the most successful UK Rap record of all time. The duo also followed up with their collaborative four-track EP Split Decisions, with all four cuts entering the UK charts. On June 22nd, it was announced that Central Cee signed for Columbia Records. - Genius

On top of Beyoncé going to #1 this week, 'All Night' and 'Heated' have been certified Silver, and 'Hold Up' has been certified Platinum!
A shame for Benson! Shocking (& funny) that it's been 15 years for Beyonce with her apparent status.
Dua at #4 only :o

For the amount of hype and money the record company has thrown at her, streaming love, hot TV promo spots on both sides of the pond, etc. etc., I'm quite surprised the songs have "underperformed". Houdini didn't even hit the top 10 in usa.

Yeah, I think both songs would've performed like this even if she did nothing to promote. They are always hits, but not the most popular ones on charts.
