Thanks to the 38 people who participated in last week's 2 weeks ago's poll :jump: (let me try not to make too much of a habit of having to do multiple weeks in one thread this year xx)

Official results from week 6:

[ 10 ] goddard. and Cat Burns - Wasted Youth (#89)

[ 10 ] Jazzy - Shooting Star (#98)

[ 10 ] Cat Janice - Dance You Outta My Head (#100)

[ 9 ] NewEra - Birds In The Sky (#78)

[ 9 ] Nathan Dawe - We Ain't Here For Long (#87)

[ 6 ] Rich Amiri - ONE CALL (#82)

[ 6 ] Artemas - if u think i'm pretty (#85)

[ 4 ] Don Toliver - Bandit (#63)

[ 2 ] Andrew Underberg, Sam Haft and Daphne Rubin-Vega - Out For Love (#75)

[ 1 ] Aimee Carty - 2 days into college (#84)

BuzzJack's favourite top 100 hits for 2024 week 6 are goddard. and Cat Burns - Wasted Youth, Jazzy - Shooting Star and Cat Janice - Dance You Outta My Head.

Using the debut chart position as a tiebreaker, 'Wasted Youth' will also auto-qualify for the February monthly round.

Perhaps me bumping the last thread with my late votes was a mistake as another last minute voter came through to leave this round with a three-way tie for the win, the first time that's happened in this poll series. Perhaps unusually that tie is between the 3 lowest debuts of the week. The leader at the time I voted was American singer Cat Janice with her chart debut and sadly almost certainly the only song that will chart for her during her lifetime as she has terminal cancer, this song has gone viral after she pledged its proceeds to go to her son after she passes. At the last minute she was joined on the podium by British duo goddard. and Cat Burns (with the former actually credited this time unlike on their previous popular collab, his remix of Cat's 'go') - a good week for people named Cat - and Irish singer and definitely a real person and not an AI experiment Jazzy with a pair of dance tracks which have both made essentially no progress in the chart since their debut so don't currently look set to be more than footnotes in chart history, likewise for Cat Janice who dropped straight back out after logging just one week at #100. These three songs were the only ones of the week to reach double digit votes and only barely, all 3 just scraping 10 votes, the support of only 26% of voters in another sluggish week. Three songs fell short of the 5 vote threshold this week including the highest debut of the week from Don Toliver who only picked up 4 votes, while the 4th song to chart from Hazbin Hotel (but not the last) again only got 2 votes and the wooden spoon for the week goes to viral amateur Aimee Carty who only found the one fan to prevent her becoming the 4th inductee to the 0 votes club. 'None of the above' had a resurgence this time managing to pick up 6 votes, so beating those last 3 songs and matching two others from Rich Amiri and Artemas.

First 2 in 1 poll of the year as I've found myself either being very busy or having no attention span (or both) pretty solidly since last weekend, apols. It's not too much of an overload of songs though as the final week of February closes the month on a whimper with only 4 new entries, though the one before has a more healthy 14 (which is the most we've had in a week so far this year, at the cost of 3 of those being from the controversial new Kanye album). Week 7 totals 46 minutes and 54 seconds and week 8 11 minutes and 25 seconds, for a total of 58 minutes and 19 seconds.

I've been slightly anachronistic including Rich The Kid and Playboi Carti in the credits for 'CARNIVAL', they'd have been omitted if I posted the poll for that week on time as they were only added to the credits a little while after the song charted. But shhh.

Vote for as many or as few songs as you want and would be ideal if you can make sure you've heard all the songs before voting if possible!

Will try to get back on track with the single week polls again next week so shall aim to get Week 9 and the February monthly round up on Sunday (3rd March) night. Also really ought to get started posting the 2023 final results this week oop xx

And here are the results from the January monthly round... (with thanks to the 26 people that voted in that :jump:)

Unfortunately it is the end of the road for these:

10 102 The Cast Of Wonka - You've Never Had Chocolate Like This

9 114 Kygo and Ava Max - Whatever

8 127 Ella Henderson - Alibi (feat. Rudimental)

7 148 Lost Frequencies and Bastille - Head Down

6 156 21 Savage - redrum

5 158 Benson Boone - Beautiful Things

Still in with a chance of making the final for the year is...

4 162 Noah Kahan - Homesick (w/ Sam Fender / solo)

Which means our first 3 guaranteed spots in the yearly round go to Ariana Grande, Becky Hill/Sonny Fodera and The Last Dinner Party :cheer: All four artists book a spot in the 2024 final after not appearing in the 2023 one (to be fair only Becky and Sonny had songs that could have made it x). It was a pretty close vote with less than 90 points between first and last so no runaway winner, but as may have been expected it is Ariana who came out on top, run close by The Last Dinner Party's debut which was only 7 points behind. Becky finished a further 12 points behind in 3rd, 8 points ahead of Noah Kahan and Sam Fender who go to the playoff round (with Noah hoping to book another spot in the final after making it to 2023's with 'Stick Season', but he'll have to wait a while to get the result for this one). Benson Boone and 21 Savage unfortunately fall just short of keeping their dreams alive, only 4 and 6 points behind Noah respectively. The remaining songs are well spaced behind but every song managed to reach triple figures here. Somewhat reaffirming that 'Whatever' finished in the bottom 2 x

3 170 Becky Hill and Sonny Fodera - Never Be Alone

2 182 The Last Dinner Party - Nothing Matters

1 189 Ariana Grande - yes, and?

Went for quite a few in week 1: 16 Carriages, Make You Mine, Made For Me, Soaked & End Of The Beginning. Just went for Dua in Week 2.
In the first week went for the three Kanye tracks & Djo and in poll two went for Calvin & Rag & Jason & Buble!

Week 7

Beyoncé - TEXAS HOLD 'EM (#9) - well this is an unexpected turn in sound but it's not really my thing

¥$ - CARNIVAL (feat. Rich The Kid and Playboi Carti) (#12) - a bit of a banger this one, STILL shouting out taylor swift tho

¥$ - BURN (#17) - really like the sound of this one too, more a chill vibe

¥$ - BACK TO ME (#18) - not quite on the level of the other 2, and wtf is with the butt naked women lyric repeated a thousand times

Noah Kahan - Forever (#31) - this is a noah kahan song

Wes Nelson - Abracadabra (feat. Craig David) (#37) - always a welcome sight to see CD in the chart, this is a nice jam too

Beyoncé - 16 CARRIAGES (#44) - this song is a bit of a mess structurally

K-Trap - Heaven Or Hell (#47) - not a lot to this one, very average voice too

Madison Beer - Make You Mine (#50) - pretty uneventful

Sia and Kylie Minogue - Dance Alone (#60) - this has got to be from something right? massive flop anyway with the names involved

Muni Long - Made For Me (#62) - snoozefest

Shy Smith - Soaked (#77) - oh love the timbaland vibes on this one! is this the lovechild of shygirl and sam smith?

Andrew Underberg, Sam Haft, Christian Borle, Amir Talai and Joel Perez - Stayed Gone (#92) - this is batshit enough to earn a vote

Djo - End Of Beginning (#100) - not leaving much of an impression on me this

Week 8

Dua Lipa - Training Season (#4) - this was a much needed tonic to all the slow/depressing songs in the top 10 last Friday

Calvin Harris and Rag'n'Bone Man - Lovers In A Past Life (#19) - an afterthought of a song if ever there was one

Bryson Tiller - Whatever She Wants (#53) - nothing to see here, next

Jason Derulo and Michael Bublé - Spicy Margarita (#80) - love it, derulo is the only one left around who can still pull off this fun/shameless style and buble outside of xmas is like a polar bear in the desert

Voted Dua & Jason.

A three-way tie last week for none of the four songs I voted for  happy to save Aimee from 0 (I saw it in someone's chart too so it wasn't just my overgenerosity).

Have to set the bar higher in both these weeks, so only voted for Beyoncé's big hit and Madison in week 7 (Noah, Sia / Kylie and Djo next in line), and Dua in week 8.

Week 7:

Beyoncé - 16 CARRIAGES | 9.0/10

Noah Kahan - Forever | 8.0/10

¥$ - BURN | 8.0/10

Beyoncé - TEXAS HOLD 'EM | 7.5/10

Muni Long - Made For Me | 6.5/10

Djo - End Of Beginning | 6.0/10

Madison Beer - Make You Mine | 6.0/10

K-Trap - Heaven Or Hell | 5.0/10

¥$ - BACK TO ME | 5.0/10

Andrew Underberg, Sam Haft, Christian Borle, Amir Talai and Joel Perez - Stayed Gone | 4.0/10

Wes Nelson - Abracadabra (feat. Craig David) | 4.5/10

¥$ - CARNIVAL (feat. Rich The Kid and Playboi Carti) | 4.0/10

Sia and Kylie Minogue - Dance Alone | 3.0/10

Shy Smith - Soaked | 2.0/10

'TEXAS HOLD 'EM' is a fun track from Beyoncé, even if it sounds a little bit cheesy at times. Some parts still kind of sounds like a country music parody to me but I still enjoy it! I really like the production on 'CARNIVAL' (I do think that the mixing at the start of Carti's verse does need to be fixed, it's pretty hard to hear his voice) but there is a fair share of cringy lines and the hook is pretty weak for me. At least Ty Dolla $ign performed well on it... 'BURN' was one of my favourite tracks from 'VULTURES 1' when I first listened to the troubled project and it remains one of my favourites. Ty Dolla $ign obviously has a talent for writing catchy hooks and this song is a prime example of that. Hear me out, I love the production, Ty's parts and Freddie Gibbs' verse on 'BACK TO ME' (I even like Kanye's first verse even). But, Kanye's 2nd verse just absolutely ruins the song for me, especially that immature line that he just keeps repeating over and over and over again, sigh. 'Forever' is a lovely addition to Noah's catalogue. My only criticism would be that the 1st part is a little too long. The verses on 'Abracadabra' are decent but the drop is just really underwhelming for me, still nice to see Craig still getting top 40s after nearly 25 years tho. '16 CARRIAGES' is such a beautiful and well-written song from Beyoncé, I'm hoping for more songs like this on 'ACT II'. I don't think I've liked any romantic drill song that I've heard  'Heaven Or Hell' is no exception oop. I feel like Madison's vocals on 'Make You Mine' could be a little less subdued on a song with such energetic production, still probably one of the best songs I've heard from her tho. 'Dance Alone' sounds really bland to me and one of my constant criticisms of Sia's recent material is that the production sounds really dated imo. 'Made For Me' really sounds like it could've pulled straight from the early 2000s :D I just wish that there was a little more to the song, it's decent although I still prefer 'Hrs & Hrs'. Wow, 'Soaked' is absolute trash. The production really tries to sound like Timbaland's but falls on it's face doing so. The Hazbin Hotel stuff isn't really my thing at all and 'Stayed Gone' isn't any different. 'End Of Beginning' is also another song where it's decent enough, but not something that I would particularly go back to

Week 8:

Dua Lipa - Training Season | 9.0/10

Calvin Harris and Rag'n'Bone Man - Lovers In A Past Life | 6.5/10

Bryson Tiller - Whatever She Wants | 3.0/10

Jason Derulo and Michael Bublé - Spicy Margarita | Unforgivable Abomination/10

My first impression of 'Training Season' was that It was simply just another solid pop song but it grew on me a lot! It is another fun banger from Dua which makes me even more excited to hear what the album sounds like. The video is trash tho lol. 'Lovers In A Past Life' is solid but really nothing special at all. I thought pretty much the same about 'Giant' as well. I really haven't heard that much material from Bryson Tiller but I wish that such a boring and lifeless song like 'Whatever She Wants' won't become his biggest solo hit (unfortunately, it looks like it will). And yeah, 'Spicy Margarita' is yet another abomination from Derulo. Here's hoping that this is the last we see of his career in the UK charts x.

Was a bit more selective than usual.

Week 7: Beyoncé 16 Carriages (I do like Texas Hold ‘Em too but this is much more special), Madison Beer and Djo

Week 8: Dua (I hadn’t been a fan of most of her stuff since Future Nostalgia but this and Houdini have really brought it back)

Week 7

1. Kanye West & Ty Dolla $ign - BACK TO ME (feat. Freddie Gibbs)

2. Madison Beer - Make You Mine

3. Kanye West & Ty Dolla $ign - BURN

4. Kanye West & Ty Dolla $ign - CARNIVAL (feat. Rich The Kid and Playboi Carti)

5. Shy Smith - Soaked

6. Andrew Underberg, Sam Haft, Christian Borle, Amir Talai and Joel Perez - Stayed Gone

7. Djo - End Of Beginning

8. Muni Long - Made For Me

9. K-Trap - Heaven Or Hell

10. Beyoncé - 16 CARRIAGES

11. Beyoncé - TEXAS HOLD 'EM

12. Sia and Kylie Minogue - Dance Alone

13. Wes Nelson - Abracadabra (feat. Craig David)

14. Noah Kahan - Forever

This is comfortably my favourite week for a while. I'm voting for my whole top 5.

'BACK TO ME' would have been third for me last week but I've got into it so much. Freddie Gibbs verse is brilliant and, while the 'Dogma' sample was initially grating, it's too catchy and now I love it. 'BURN' is probably the best Kanye song for a long time. Ty's parts are brilliant and Kanye's verse is his most focused for ages. 'CARNIVAL' is by far my least favourite of the 3 but it is growing on me. I wish Playboi Carti wasn't there though.

Madison Beer is one of my favourite artists and I'm so happy this has charted but 'Make You Mine' is probably my least favourite single of hers for a while. Still a bop though! I didn't know what to expect from the Shy Smith track but it's nearly great and feels like it could be a grower so I'll give it a vote too.

I don't like the intro on 'Stayed Gone' but the rest of the song is fun. 'End Of Beginnings' is my favourite of that kinda track for a while. I can't believe it's dude from 'Stranger Things'. 'Made For Me' has some nice old-school R&B vibes.

'Heaven Or Hell' is ok but K-Trap could have done with mixing up the flow a little bit. Out of the Beyoncé tracks, I think '16 CARRIAGES' is the most interesting but neither of them are particularly memorable for me.

I'm liking the change in style for Sia on 'Dance Alone' where she doesn't do any of her oversinging. Why do Wes Nelson and Craig David sound so inter-changeable on 'Abracadabra'? It's alright but pretty run-of-the-mill.

It’s genuinely impressive that Noah Kahan is already at a point where he can just chart with anything. 'Forever' is so boring and the only true stinker of the week.

Week 8

1. Dua Lipa - Training Season

2. Bryson Tiller - Whatever She Wants

3. Calvin Harris and Rag'n'Bone Man - Lovers In A Past Life

4. Jason Derulo and Michael Bublé - Spicy Margarita

Just Dua for this week. I'm loving 'Training Season' at the moment, much stronger than 'Houdini' for me.

I wasn't expecting this sound from Bryson Tiller on 'Whatever She Wants'. I much prefer the crooning R&B from him.

I've completely zoned out every time I've heard 'Lovers In A Past Life' so far. It's quite nice for the background I guess.

Why don't I hate 'Spicy Margarita'? Derulo's lyrics are probably his cringiest yet but I still feel like he's done much worse.
