This is fantastic from her. I don’t agree with the comments that yes, and? is worst song of the year or even particularly bad but it’s definitely weaker compared to the likes of this! Great song

Biography

A need to connect authentically drives every aspect of Benson Boone’s artistry. From his unflinchingly honest lyrics to hand-drawn artwork, there is no buffer between him and the listener. That’s particularly true of “GHOST TOWN,” the 19-year-old’s astonishing debut single. A poignant piano ballad about moving on, this is the calling card of a major new talent. Incredibly, “GHOST TOWN” was one of the first songs Boone ever wrote. But the Monroe, Washington native has a habit of being very good at things without realizing it. In fact, his musical talent only emerged by coincidence when he was asked to sing in a friend’s band. Now, he’s making up for lost time. So much so that Boone plays multiple instruments on “GHOST TOWN” including the drums, guitar and piano, which he picked up by ear. The multi-talented teenager even drew the striking cover art. That desire for a genuine, unfiltered connection with fans is why he stepped away from American Idol, despite wowing judges at auditions. Instead, Boone connected with Imagine Dragons frontman Dan Reynolds. “It was our first writing session together when I realized [benson] is a once in a generation talent,” Reynolds says. While the newcomer is still at the very beginning of his music journey, he’s in it for the long haul. Boone’s goal is to make songs that stand the test of time. With “GHOST TOWN,” the singer/songwriter takes an auspicious first step towards achieving it. - Spotify

Biography

Beyoncé Giselle Knowles-Carter (/biˈɒnseɪ/ ⓘ bee-ON-say; born September 4, 1981) is an American singer, songwriter and businesswoman. Dubbed as "Queen Bey" and a prominent cultural figure of the 21st century, she has been recognized for her artistry and performances, with Rolling Stone naming her one of the greatest vocalists of all time. As a child, Beyoncé started performing in various singing and dancing competitions. She rose to fame in the late 1990s as a member of the R&B girl group Destiny's Child, one of the best-selling girl groups of all time. Their hiatus saw the release of Beyoncé's debut album, Dangerously in Love (2003). She then followed with the US number-one solo albums B'Day (2006), I Am... Sasha Fierce (2008), and 4 (2011). After creating her own management company Parkwood Entertainment, Beyoncé achieved critical acclaim for the experimental visual albums Beyoncé (2013) and Lemonade (2016), which explored themes such as feminism and womanism. With her queer-inspired dance album Renaissance (2022), she became the first female artist to have their first seven studio albums debut at number one in the US. Beyoncé's most successful songs on the Billboard Hot 100 include "Crazy in Love", "Baby Boy", "Check On It", "Irreplaceable", "If I Were a Boy", "Halo", "Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)", "Drunk in Love", "Break My Soul" and "Cuff It". She is the only woman in history to have at least 20 top 10 hits as a solo artist, and at least 10 as a member of a group. Her collaborative music ventures include Everything Is Love (2018), an album with her husband and rapper Jay-Z, released as the Carters, and the musical film Black Is King (2020), inspired by the music of the film soundtrack The Lion King: The Gift (2019). Homecoming: The Live Album (2019), which documents her 2018 Coachella performance, has been heralded as a historic live album for its tribute to multiple generations of Black music. Outside of music, she has starred as an actress in films such as Austin Powers in Goldmember (2002), The Pink Panther (2006), Dreamgirls (2006), Cadillac Records (2008), Obsessed (2009), and The Lion King (2019). Having sold 200 million records worldwide, Beyoncé is one of the best-selling music artists of all time. Her accolades include a record 32 Grammy Awards, as well as 26 MTV Video Music Awards (including the 2014 Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award), 24 NAACP Image Awards, 35 BET Awards, and 17 Soul Train Music Awards – all of which are more than any other artist in the music industry. Her success during the 2000s earned her recognition as the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA)'s Top Certified Artist of the Decade and Billboard's 4th best artist of the decade. She is the most successful black touring act in history and received the Pollstar Touring Artist of the Decade award in 2021. Time included her as one of the 100 women who defined the 21st century. - Wikipedia

'Beautiful Things' hasn't really done much for me, but after all these weeks I think it's actually starting to grow on me!

Also, well done Bey on having her longest-running #1!

shame for benson, imo its the better song, and i feel like this was his last chance to snatch it :(

still happy for bey tho, its a bop for sure

'Beautiful Things' is great for me. A bit shouty sure but like rocky element to it a lot. An unexpected twist from Benson! Happy if 2 is its peak though as it's done very well.
Sad for Benson. He deserved the #01 but it's going to be impossible for him to have it right now. Djo & Ariana are the new contenders for it.
"TEXAS HOLD 'EM" is now Beyoncé's longest-running number one single in the UK, surpassing "Crazy In Love" (which, coincidentally, has been certified 4x Platinum this week) and "Beautiful Liar".

Edited by DanielSwift

I'd rather Benson was number 1 for one week, 4 weeks for TEXAS HOLD 'EM is too much imo.

Shame Benson couldn't quite grab the #1 spot but I didn't actually think he'd be anywhere near contention when Beyoncé soared ahead, so I'm glad the song is still proving to be competitive! Expect it'll be at #3 next week but ahead of Bey  bad timing!!

Biography

Cardi B’s come-up reads like a 2010s Cinderella story. In just a handful of years, the sharp-tongued New Yorker went from viral Instagram phenom to one of hip-hop’s most exciting voices, establishing herself as a bossed-up feminist icon along the way. Born Belcalis Almanzar in the South Bronx in 1992, Cardi got a job as a stripper at 19, quickly building a social media following—in addition to her devotees at the club—for her viral videos and hilarious catchphrases. In 2015, she scored a spot on VH1’s drama-filled reality show Love & Hip Hop: New York, where her brash personality turned her into an immediate fan favorite among her more established costars. That same over-the-top charisma made Cardi a natural fit for rap dominance; witty, unfiltered, and totally fearless, her early tracks doubled as mantras for self-made women who put themselves first. But it was “Bodak Yellow” that launched Cardi into superstardom; a trap anthem that rang out from cars and clubs throughout 2017, it begging you to shout along. Her 2018 debut album, Invasion of Privacy, fused the Latin music of her childhood with hardcore New York hustlers' anthems, and squashed any doubts as to whether Cardi was here to stay. Meanwhile, her scene-stealing guest verses span the pop charts, from Bruno Mars (“Finesse [Remix]”) and Ozuna (“La Modelo”) to Maroon 5 (“Girls Like You”) and Megan Thee Stallion ("WAP"). Not bad for a self-proclaimed regular girl from The Bronx. - Apple Music

Biography

When Zayn Malik left One Direction in early 2015, he didn’t really have a plan. They were in Hong Kong, on tour. Two weeks down, seven months to go. Zayn was already beat. So he hopped on a plane and flew home. Dad was skeptical. Mom made him some food. After all, he was still basically a kid: 22 years old, with the past five years of his life swallowed up by the madness of being in the biggest boy band on the planet. He’d joked that he’d only gone through with The X Factor in the first place because it beat taking exams. And while 1D were close pals, Zayn still felt like the creative odd man out, a lifelong hip-hop and R&B fan trying to find his voice in the group’s bright, pop-rock matrix. “There wasn’t any time to sit down and process anything and be like, ‘Is this what I really want to do?’” he told Apple Music after going solo in 2016. “That was the real underlying issue. That’s what it was for me. I just needed time to breathe.” A gamble, for sure. But gambles always seemed like Zayn’s forte. It wasn’t just that he upended the boy-band code by refusing to dance, but he also breathed a little real-life spontaneity into a world whose moves often seem choreographed to death. The music has taken chances, too: the woozy, alt-leaning R&B of tracks like “iT’s YoU”, the club sounds of “No Candle No Light”, the decidedly adult themes of “sHe” and “PILLOWTALK”. Some teen stars never outgrow the past. With Zayn, you sense that the future has been on his mind for a while—it just took him a minute to get around to it. - Apple Music
