Welcome to Week 9! :spin:

Results from Week 8

It was close all week, but Bronski Beat - Smalltown Boy held off 'Together In Electric Dreams' by 14 votes to 13, with Nik Kershaw - The Riddle third placing on 10.

Rod Stewart - What Am I Gonna Do pipped Jimmy Nail to the worst poll with 8 votes, all those Rod klaxons for bigger musical crimes than this seemingly catching up with him.

Best poll winners

week 1: Danny And The Juniors - At The Hop

week 2: Dusty Springfield - I Just Don't Know What To Do With Myself

week 3: Otis Redding - (Sittin' On) The Dock Of The Bay

week 4: David Bowie - Life On Mars?

week 5: David Bowie - Sound And Vision

week 6: ABBA - Gimme, Gimme, Gimme (A Man After Midnight)

week 7: Tears For Fears - Mad World

week 8: Bronski Beat - Smalltown Boy

This week's best song is really no contest if 'Blue Monday' isn't considered to have a #9 peak and the original counts here, but remix or not, it's well worthy of a vote - though I also awarded one to The Proclaimers.

After much consideration I decided it wasn't worth upsetting fans of George Michael, Janet Jackson and indeed Sabrina by including their sub-par (for this session) efforts in the worst poll, so I've left it at three, of which 'Anfield Rap' has the fewest redeeming features so it got my vote.

Threw all of my weight behind 'Blue Monday' as I felt that it was on another level

That Liverpool FC thing for worst

So I listened to the 1988 Blue Monday and turns out this was the version I heard first as I remember seeing the video on the music channels  It's a shame what it does to the intro and outro and a few too many bells and whistles, but still definitely worth a vote. So went for that, Word Up, Walk Like an Egyptian, Alone and Letter from America (Let's Go All The Way and Love Missile F1-11 were also good discoveries I heard today that didn't make the poll).

I thought Cliff/Sarah would be a shoo-in for Worst, but then that Anfield Rap supposed song came along and the rest is history x

Krush to win over the overrated Blue Monday #sorrynotsorry
I like every track here to an extent except the godawful Anfield rap, and I voted for all bar one in the best category as there were no outstanding faves especially, maybe Jackie Wilson should got my single vote. The one I wanted to vote for best record is Cliff & Sarah one of the most heartwarmingly gorgeous tunes ever, people really not Lloyd-Webber musical fans on Buzzjack then! When I get to be Ruler Of Earth I will bring in compulsory viewings of Phantom Of The Opera on repeat as punishment until everyone sees the light... :P
Was Bad preferred to The Way You Make Me Feel then? Sad if so, I think the latter is far stronger.

Not sure about the Blue Monday remix - went for Cameo, Heart, Krush and Aztec Camera.

I’ve always found the Mel and Kim cover incredibly cringeworthy so I’be given that its first vote!

Definitely The way you make me feel is better than Bad

But both are great

Cliff really is the worst by miles

me too :)

Ann Wilson!
