Another former Neighbours actress trying to break into the music industry. She played the role of Sky Mangel in the Australian soap. Her only UK charting single failed to reach inside the Top 40.

 

 

The Killers – For Reasons Unknown [Peaked at #53 in July 2007]

The fifth and final single from the The Killers' second studio album Sam's Town, this one failed to make any strides inside the Top 40 and dropped out of the charts altogether after a week.

 

 

Garbage – Tell Me Where It Hurts [Peaked at #50 in July 2007]

The last charting single from Garbage, this one didn’t quite have the legs to pull off a UK Top 40 finish for Shirley Manson and co.

 

 

Hellogoodbye – Baby It’s Fact [Peaked at #81 in September 2007]

After a big Summer hit for the American pop rock band in 2007 with Here (In Your Arms), this follow-up single failed to make any real impression at all with UK listeners, stalling at just #81. They continue to remain a one hit wonder to this day.

 

 

Gabriella & Troy – Gotta Go My Own Way [Peaked at #40 in September 2007]

Breaking Free was a pop sensation in 2005 for Gabriella & Troy, stars of High School Musical, but this single wasn’t to be a repeat for them in terms of hit status when the sequel movie was released in 2007.

 

Amy Winehouse - Love Is a Losing Game is another undeserved flop at the time (I think it finally managed top 40 after her death) but I guess everyone owned the album at that point.

She was long past being a commercial force at that point and the album it was released from had already bombed. I'd say if anything it did well to get as high as #49

Not quite the chart success that this may have been hoping for, but this pop ballad was taken from Céline’s tenth English-language studio album of the same name.

 

 

Maroon 5 – Won't Go Home Without You [Peaked at #44 in December 2007]

Having amassed over 260 million YouTube views, it is odd to think this Maroon 5 single wasn’t able to break into the Top 40 at the time. However, they would go on to have a plethora of hits in the years to follow.

 

 

David Guetta – Baby When The Light [Peaked at #50 in December 2007]

Released as the third single from his third studio album, Pop Life, the song features uncredited vocals by singer Cozi Costi. It was written by Guetta and singer-songwriter Cathy Dennis.

This one got to No.44 in 2007, despite being released in The Netherlands in 2003 and Germany in 2005 when it got to No.1 there. I have no idea how it was relevant to the UK music scene in 2007 and why they felt it apt to release it here that late. It was a Woolies chart No.1, but the concept of the Woolies chart was dying off by then and I guess it might have been a label bought placement. The band went semi-viral recently (and were also entered to BJSC) with 1001 Arabian Nights.

 

 

I was literally coming to post this in this thread, was going to post it in an earlier one before realising it had charted here in 2007. There's a memory attached here as my grandparents took us on holiday to Majorca in 2005 and me and one of my cousins became obsessed with this playing all the time at the kids holiday club disco and were literally singing it all the way home lmao. :lol: This is like a Mandela effect cos I had no knowledge of it charting in the UK until I went to post it it in one of these threads but I swear it was released here in '05 a few weeks after we came back from holiday and my cousin got it on CD.

Remembered my favourite by The Fratellis only got as high as #67:

The Santigold track being in an advert in 2012 reminds me of this which was originally released in 2007 but was on the Nikon advert loads in the early 2010s. It's really similar in style to some of the folk tracks popular now.
