April 24, 20241 yr I very much approve of those last two choices, 'One' is arguably U2's magnum opus, such a beautiful song. And I would possibly somewhat controversially argue that 'I Don't Know Anybody Else' is better than 'Ride On Time' (or at least just as good as!)
April 24, 20241 yr Author April 25th – A song you like that is about a famous historical event challenged by Severin A certain Mangø has been complaining about these challenges being too easy… well… here is one that will surely prove to be the most challenging of the month yet. Severin thinks there are enough songs in the universe about historical events from the past, so it’s up to the rest of us to struggle to find them. Tears will surely form during this unfathomable exercise. If it proves to be too much of a challenge I may consider changing to his other option midway through the day… Bastille – Pompeii {nominated by Y'all Starlight} Big Big Train – East Coast Racer {nominated by King Rollo} Billie Holiday – Strange Fruit {nominated by dandy*} Bob Dylan – Hurricane {nominated by spiceboy} Bob Marley & The Wailers – Buffalo Soldier {nominated by awardinary} Boney M. – Rasputin {nominated by JulianT} Bruce Springsteen – Streets Of Philadelphia {nominated by Herbs} Coldplay – Politik {nominated by Mangø} Creedence Clearwater Revival – Fortunate Son {nominated by Scene} DJ Sakin – Protect Your Mind {nominated by TheSnake} Fall Out Boy – We Didn’t Start The Fire {nominated by Linds.} Green Day – Holiday {nominated by Mack.} Lil Baby – The Bigger Picture {nominated by Cowboy Cody} Linkin Park – The Little Things Give You Away {nominated by Riser} Manic Street Preachers – If You Tolerate This, Your Children Will Be Next {nominated by Chez Wombat} Masato Koike – Thousand Suns {nominated by Cow P} Nena – 99 Red Balloons {nominated by Yobnedor} Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark – Enola Gay {nominated by Hadji} Phil Wickham – Living Hope {nominated by PeteFromLeeds} Robert Wyatt – Shipbuilding {nominated by jimwatts} Scorpions – Wind Of Change {nominated by Roba.} Siouxsie And The Banshees – Cities In Dust {nominated by Jade} Sufjan Stevens – Come On! April 25, 20241 yr Masato Koike - Thousand Suns I_zEcQZ_c_o Yes, it's another my BJSC entry and I have a high doubt this is the song that the challenge wants. However, I request for a defense because although this sounds like just a game soundtrack, it actually represented an actual famous Chinese battle called Chibi (Battle of The Red Cliffs). There's a 2-part drama film released in 2009 dedicated to this event. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Red_Cliffs https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_Cliff_(film) If my objection gets overruled, I'll try to find another one, dw. :D Edited April 25, 20241 yr by Cow P
April 25, 20241 yr Author I'll get back to you on this.. Don’t worry Mack I’m sure you won’t be the only one! Maybe some sporting themed songs about historic victories?
April 25, 20241 yr Author If my objection gets overruled, I'll try to find another one, dw. :D It certainly won’t be overruled by me, which is one of the perks of being the host, I don’t have to veto songs if they don’t fit the theme, it’s up to the challenger of the day to call out any discrepancies with their challenge! :P

One of the I'm sure numerous songs about the Black Lives Matter movement and protests, especially the most tumultuous ones back in 2020 following the deaths of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, etc. Even now I still think we have a long way to go bc there are still people who don't think that what the police do to numerous black people is inhumane.
April 25, 20241 yr April 25th: song about a historical event - it has to be this about the Vietnam war! ZWijx_AgPiA
