Uh. Sampling a very popular song, having P Diddy make a cameo in the video and having Nicki Minaj featuring on the track is hardly playing it safe? If anything that's the most desperate way of 'guaranteeing' an easy hit....which she still failed to do.

I literally said the same thing one post above Slayer. It's not shoehorning, it's a fair statement.
