Well, I think it normally lasts 2 weeks? Hozier for example, seems like it had it in weeks 3 and 4 where he got to over 900,000, and now it's finished and he's back down to 700,000. For Sabrina it looks like it's happened in weeks 2 and 3 so I would expect if it follows a similar pattern it will fall to around 800,000 next week, and I guess another song will be chosen to replace it. At least that's what it seems like is happening anyway. If so, at least it'll make the #1 turnover a bit faster lol.

 

Two weeks? How comes Djo’s only lasted 4 days(coincidentally when he peaked on tiktok and every account was making a video saying I can't escape this song) Hozier got 900k one day(a Friday the most popular day)

 

People have this idea autoplay is the answer to unexplained rises or falls but it's all algorithms. Songs gaining popularity get more autoplay but it's a minor addition or subtraction. If a song authentically gains or loses streams and in combo gains or loses some autoplay sure it can create a big disparity in streams in a small timeframe but that's not ‘payola’ it's just basic logic.

 

Hozier did 900k ONCE on a Friday(the most popular day) it hasnt fallen to 400k it's still doing big numbers so what suggests it was down to autoplay? Was it supposed to stay 800k exact streams forever?

 

I just see no real point following streams and numbers if everytime someone gets big streams it's dismissed as autoplay. Every song doing well will get autoplay that's literally how the algorithm works. It's not the reason for the rises it's an unavoidable addition.

Autoplay boosts *are* a thing, we saw them in action in 2023 when songs like Stephen Sanchez's Until I Found You had huge gains for a week and suddenly dropped. This time we're discussing it happening to songs that are already doing big numbers so it pushes them higher. Not necessarily payola, just that the algorithm is pushing these very popular songs more than usual for a period of time before moving to something else. It doesn't stop songs being huge in their own right, and if Espresso is benefiting from autoplay, she'd probably be on 800-900k now anyway, it just gives an extra push.

Lol saying autoplay doesn't exist is like saying global warming is not happening lol

It’s happened with plenty of songs before and the effects there seemed to be for like a few days before the song drops of and the song dives back down again

but we've had autoplay affecting the charts for a long time now, with some very blatant cases

like Roger Sanchez or even Pink-Trustfall, which is a song I love but no problem admiting it charted so high cos of autoplay

 

the most blatant recent case was Djo, the autoplay was so heavy and constant I almost swift from Spotify to Apple lol

The fortnight cds are and “exclusive” release available for 48 hours ending tonight at 7pm, so I reckon they’ll end up shipped out tomorrow to maintain #1. Would love to see Sabrina snatch it but also would be cool to see fortnight at #1 for a fortnight 🤣 I’m sure if this happens Sabrina should easily grab it next week

Wasn't it you who had a strop because I said the re release of Girls Aloud album would be a flop because it didn't offer much to us fans who own all their cd singles/albums/sliver box set?

Kendrick's first full day being nearly 200k higher than Drake's oh my (although not really that fair to compare considering Drake's was freely available on YouTube a week before it was put on streaming services)
