Well not really because she would have just gone back to number one this week

Plus Dula would need another 12k by Friday to beat Taylor's second week figure anyway... doesn't sound that realistic.

Surely it would be too soon to ship it today but imagine the uproar if she did  she managed 16k cds singles last week could do enough to stop Dua lipa
Says it will be shipped on or before May 31st but wouldn’t put it past Team Taylor to ship out the new £7.99 version of her album early if it’s ready

If they were to ship them today(There is a 10 hour countdown so I wouldn't be surprised) then I would put Dua at 42k vs Taylor at 33k so she'd need 9k album sales given she sold 16k CDs for a single with £5 shipping cost then she would probably get #1.

I agree it does seem odd on the surface, although 'Look What You Made Me Do' was coming off the back of 1989 and the other three are leads since her popularity went properly stratospheric.

I think others not making it there beforehand was a lot down to luck and timing, there was always something bigger around.

To be fair she would have probably had number ones with Shake It Off and Blank Space had they been on streaming at the time of release. Wasn’t Love Story quite close to Kelly C’s My Life… as well?

No. 18k behind I'm afraid

Not close at all!

1 Kelly Clarkson 51,114

2 Taylor Swift 33,261

Also, I'm pretty sure 'Shake It Off' was available on streaming at the time it peaked and later got removed, plus it was like 50k behind Meghan Trainor.

I'm not too sure about 'Blank Space' but in late 2014 that was competing against the likes of 'Thinking Out Loud' and 'Uptown Funk'. I think only 'Style' was hugely disproportionately affected by not being available on streaming, that probably would have been top 15 otherwise.

My heart just jumped in my throat. And that Taylor CD is only £7.99

Mildly interesting segment of that period is that "Blank Space" very nearly became the first sales #1 to miss the top spot due to streaming...if not for Union J outselling it and both succumbing to "Thinking Out Loud" actually having a streaming presence on the same week.

It is so odd that Taylor’s #1s here are definitely not her biggest or most impactful hits.

Look What You Made Me Do

Anti-Hero

Is It Over Now

Fortnight

Anti-Hero is the only one that I would say is even in her top 10 biggest hits

Only Nati Hero of those is actually big!! Look Qhat You Made Me Do is a small fart in her discography in comparison to her big songs!!! That is weird.

She does have quite the history of “unlucky” peaks at times when other insanely huge songs were at #1. Love Story behind My Life Would Suck Without You, I Knew You Were Trouble behind Scream & Shout, Shake It Off behind All About That Base, Cruel Summer behind Paint The Town Red, and willow behind Mariah & Wham at Christmas (technically a non-xmas #1?).

Even beyond that her other Top 10s have mostly just had crazy competition at time of release. All Too Well (10 Minute TV) was behind Adele and Ed, Bad Blood was behind the likes of Cheerleader and See You Again (plus Bills), ME! was behind Stormzy and Lil Nas X, and as mentioned before Blank Space was forever stuck behind Ed and Mark Ronson/Bruno

Hmm wouldn’t call any of My Life, S&S and Paint the Town Red as extremely huge

'Scream & Shout' was one of the year's biggest hits wasn't it?

I'd say 'Paint the Town Red' was pretty huge in terms of having bigger sales weeks than most had at the time.

Scream & Shout may not be either of will.i.am or Britney’s most fondly remembered hits but it was massive in 2012/2013

Paint The Town Red is maybe yet to prove whether it’ll hold up years from now but it’s Doja’s most streamed song on Spotify and was #26 UK EOY 2023

MLWSWY feels bigger to me than maybe it was? Quick research is telling me not so much, although it’s funny to discover that Taylor spent an extra two weeks in the Top 10 than Kelly did despite the lower peak for Love Story

'Cruel Summer' did 32,065 on its week at #2 last year, while 'Shake It Off' did 55,687 at #2 in 2014, 'I Knew You Were Trouble' 49,418 in 2013 and 'Love Story' 33,261 in 2009 - most of these middling-to-low #2 sales for the years in question.

However all (except perhaps 'Love Story') had longevity in the Top 10 which would outdo most #1s those years.

At least the awful cringefest LWYMMD being the sole holder of her highest peak has been rectified.

Probably an unpopular opinion but I think Fortnight instantly makes itself her best quality #1 by some distance.
