I have to say, I'm not a big fan of the Big Weekend playlist disrupting the regular playlist (mostly because it makes it awkward to handle in my spreadsheet :kink:) but it is what it is!
I'm surprised Coldplay haven't put out any new tracks from their new album yet. I thought they would given the golden opportunity to promo it at the Big Weekend and Glastonbury, though there's still a week left to put the lead single out in time for the Big Weekend I guess.
Yeh same here, although maybe its just a way of introducing themselves again, hope new music comes along soon though. We do have a busy market at the moment!
oh my that's a horrible playlist, Rag n Bone- Human wtf
I do think this playlist is a bit silly - I know radio 1 isn’t all about following the charts but it is primarily a new music station and having 9 out of the current top 10 not getting played for the next 2 weeks is weird (especially as 2 of those, Post Malone and Tommy Richman haven’t even been playlisted yet and this week would have been the perfect opportunity to change that.) A very strange decision.

Interesting that they’ve switched the Becky Hill song. ‘Right Here’ is miles better than ‘Outside Of Love’ so hoping that carries over when the playlist goes back to normal.

Also, I won't be around next week so if there's a playlist update, could someone post it in my absence please? (although who knows, they might just stick with this one for the next 2 weeks)

not a song from 2008 being on the New Music playlist agh

could have at least playlisted his most recent single … from 2020 (so frustrating being a Prydz fan)

Tune of the Week - w/c 20th May

Arielle Free: ANOTR & Erik Bandt feat. Leven Kali - How You Feel

Greg James: Myles Smith - Stargazing

Rickie, Melvin and Charlie: Tommy Richman - MILLION DOLLAR BABY

Dean and Vicky: Post Malone feat. Morgan Wallen - I Had Some Help

Vick, Katie and Jamie: Issey Cross - Energy In My Town

This playlist is now in place until the 30th. The only update is there's no Tune of the Weekend.

EDIT: Just clocked Human has been replaced with What Do You Believe In?

They play loads of songs that aren't on the Playlist (I think in fact maybe the majority of what they play each week is songs not on their playlists). So I assume a lot of the non-playlist songs they play will be current chart hits.

They haven’t really - I’ve heard Fortnight a bit but for example haven’t heard Million Dollar Baby, I Had Some Help or Lunch at all. I might have been listening at the wrong times but the non-playlist songs they seems to be playing seem to be the ones they usually play (The 1975, Sam Fender, J Hus etc)

They’ve def played ‘Million Dollar Baby’ on the evening shows as I’m listening to Jack Saunders new music show and it was played at 6:30 on that show.

If it's not on the playlist then it'll either get a 'spot play' because they're testing the water with it or it's being played on the evening if they do play it.

Million Dollar Baby for instance was Tune of the Week for RMC so it's been played on their show every day in the daytime. The actual daytime output is very concise and is made up of the weekly playlist, Silver/Recurrent tracks, TOTW etc etc so a lot goes into it

Lunch isn't really suitable for Radio 1 where many kids will be listening.

Oh for goodness sake :drama: Are you for real? And they haven't played less suitable tracks during the day before, have they?

Also, that'll be why it's been played at various times throughout the day since they started playing it:
