Didn't realise Sash was a group!

Catatonia is a good shout, I like enough of their songs that they'd have been close to a point or two from me if I'd remembered them.

And funnily enough I was the only voter for the mighty JJ72

That 1st album is great but the 2nd and 3rd really saw them drop away for me.

Good to see them remembered though

Sash! had all their hits as a group, nowadays it's just the one guy. I did nominate him in the male artist rate but he was vetoed for this reason, so I had to remember to include Sash! in their glory days here

I think their Best Of is one of my favourite hits collection, it's just uplifting anthem after anthem, they were so unlucky to land at No.2 so often without ever getting to No.1.

Mike and The Mechanics produced two 10/10 songs in The Living Years and Over My Shoulder, although beyond those and All I Need Is A Miracle I'm not massively familiar with their material.

I also had no idea Sash was a group!

And I echo the comments about JJ72, so good to see them here, I doubt they've ever been mentioned before on Buzzjack! Their debut album was incredible ('Oxygen' is still one of my all times faves) and the second album, whilst not being quite up there with the first, still had its moments. Shame they disbanded after that. Last I heard, the lead singer is now director of music at one of the music schools in Dublin.

JJ72 never had a third album?? I've certainly never known of it and Wiki doesn't list it either! Was one ever recorded?

I liked both of the JJ72 albums, the lead singer had such a unique vocal style. Nero are also a great dance group, their Welcome Reality album should always be played at a high volume.

JJ72's third album was recorded but the label refused to release it. A couple of singles came out and some other bits officially released online but you can find most of it on p2p sites

The dispute over the release was one of the key factors in the band splitting up.

They have as I’ve reviewed 2 of their hits in the thread in my signature and the 3rd appears today. :D

For anyone looking to compile JJ72's third album, this was a published tracklist early on, and where you can find the songs -

01 Coming Home (single)

02 Everything (available on sampler)

03 Grower (live versions available)

04 Heat (single B-side)

05 June (made available online)

06 Nothing In This World (made available online)

07 Radio (available on album sampler)

08 Rise (seemingly still unavailable)

09 She's Gone (single)

10 Someday (demo available online)

11 Take From Me (available on sampler)

12 Underground (live versions available)

I've got the two singles but I didn't realise the whole album had actually been recorded. I'll see if I can dig out some of those songs, thanks!

Oh my first choice out now. I wasn't the only voter for S Club 8/ Juniors last time though. -_-
Favourites from Justice: 'D.A.N.C.E.', 'We Are Your Friends', and from their new songs maybe 'Generator'. I've been the only voter for all of my 2-7 pointers, wonder if I'll make it a week's worth tomorrow (I think my 9 pointer will safely have other voters...)
I love S Club 8 and The Lonely Island. I’d forgotten The Lonely Island had any top 40 hits (I thought ‘I Just Had Sex’ was their biggest hit) - otherwise I might have put them in my top 30. They are a band I revisit every now and then.
I have the S Club Juniors album  haven't really ventured into S Club 8 though but doubt they'd be anywhere near my 30 despite having bops!

Was going to correct you that 'One Step Closer' peaked at #2 - but I see it's just a typo as you've listed their other #2 hits as well!

Loving the JJ72 chat and 3rd album info, thank you! Doubly glad I voted for them now.

Of the most recent exits, S Club Juniors is in the Same Difference category for me 😅 - didn't think they had a #1 as their biggest hit?

Nothing Lasts Forever by Echo & The Bunnymen is magnificent, an all time favourite of mine, but I don't know much else by them.

Cleopatra really should have been bigger, Cleo had an astonishing voice for a young singer.

I didn't particularly care for most of their hits but Life Ain't Easy I listen to on a very regular basis, beautiful melody and production that throws me right back to 1998, but not really enough to put them near my top 30 groups.

S Club Juniors/8 were all just a couple of years younger than I was when they launched, so it was weird to have an act near my age in the charts. Can't say I particularly loved anything from them but New Direction and Fool No More are definitely as good as some of the stuff the seniors put out. The less said about their Puppy Love cover the better.
