Ariana is of course involved with the two upcoming Wicked movies and I thought we could have a separate thread for the accompanying soundtracks.

The soundtrack for the first movie is now available to pre-save:

From the latest trailer we got a teaser of Ariana singing 'Popular':

The Kristin/Idina Broadway version of ‘Defying Gravity’ is currently charting on Apple Music prior to the release of the movie soundtrack on Friday, wow!!
I would looooooooooove the Mika/Ariana version of Popular to do something
Sobbing my heart out at Defying Gravity obv but I absolutely LOVE what they’ve done with Popular too, Ari sounds absolutely increidble and *that* line in What Is This Feeling!!! *.*
Also apparently Defying Gravity and Popular will both be pushed as singles, not surprising as the two biggest songs and one for each character/actress, I think DG would need a radio edit for streaming though as it’s even longer than the original and has bits of dialogue, but then that was the case with the original and it is the centrepiece of the whole movie. Idk, obviously doesn’t matter how it does really but it will be interesting to see how it all does on streaming given the insane hype around the film and the marketing if they’re pushing the songs too;

That's a pretty vinyl. Can't wait to see the movie (although I probably will wait a couple of weeks!)

The Apple Music takeover so far *.* ‘Defying Gravity’ is #14 ❤️ intrigued for the Spotify update today.

The official Wicked channel uploaded this full performance and I couldn’t resist, obsessed with the choreography:

Defying Gravity at #37 on UK Spotify! Popular #54, What Is This Feeling #81, Dancing Through Life #113, No One Mourns The Wicked #115 and The Wizard & I #143. I initially was disappointed at DG being there then realised there’s about 10 Christmas songs ahead and most of a Kendrick Lamar album so in chart terms it’s probably coming up on top 15 or so?

Yeah Dan estimated that it would be about #13 when factoring in OCC rules over in the chart forum *.* here's hoping it climbs tomorrow after more people have seen the film over the weekend!

'Defying Gravity' has now cracked the top 10 on Apple :wub: amazing for an almost 8 minute long musical theatre song but I totally get why it's the one resonating the most after watching the movie.
