July 21, 2024Jul 21 Numb  I do quite enjoy U2's Zooropa era, it's definitely nice to hear them release something that wasn't anywhere near as commercial.
July 22, 2024Jul 22 sorry I didnt get round to voting. Get On Your Boots would have got points from me, I remember being the only one on BJ that rated it when it came out  I like that it was a bit of an aural assault. Desire def would have been boosted by me a bit - it was no Joshua Tree but it was nicely Bo Diddly-esque retro. The U2 pomp slagging off was very much a thing after Rattle & Hum, so they did the best thing they could and went experimental for the next decade. Numb being a good example of another track I would pointed. City Of Blinding Lights I also rated. Most of the rest would have been unlikely to get points, or trickle points at best. Fire was the first U2 single I bought so that might have got some nostalgia points.

July 22, 2024Jul 22 Personally I much prefer the original version of The Sweetest Thing. I find the single version quite annoying. Staring at the Sun is very underrated though
July 22, 2024Jul 22 Didn't get round to voting in this sadly but would have scored Ordinary Love very highly.
July 23, 2024Jul 23 Glad someone besides me pointed 'Ordinary Love'! I hadn't listened to it in several years, unfortunately it hasn't aged as well as I hoped, although I still like it enough to give it 22 points.
July 23, 2024Jul 23 “Numb” was my wildcard and I didn’t know it before (thanks Severin). Love the robotic style of it.
July 23, 2024Jul 23 Glad you liked it Julian. :D Numb was potentially my wildcard too but I just waited long enough to see if anybody nominated it and I could pick something else, so thanks for that too. There's definitely an Industrial influence on it and it stood out as quite different for them at the time. It was also a rather unusual choice as the first single from Zooropa and came in the rare format (at the time) of a video single. And one of the few where The Edge 'sings' lead vocals.
July 23, 2024Jul 23 Think I've only lost 3 songs from my votes so far, and none of my top 15 ('Sweetest Thing' was my +10). 'Staring At The Sun' just missed my votes and leaves Pop as their only album before 2006 where I didn't point anything. How are ties decided Ed - number of voters?
July 23, 2024Jul 23 it's a pity Lemon didn't qualify, love Numb but Lemon was even better been istening to it a lot last couple weeks

Yep, number of voters, and then highest individual score if number of voters are equal. Any tied positions will have completely identical sets of scores. Edited July 23, 2024Jul 23 by chartjack2

July 23, 2024Jul 23 Surprised to see 'Magnificent' made it to top 30! I know some aren't a fan but always liked 'Stuck..'
