So I had a discussion with Kath about the retirement of the ETotW thread, we both agreed that it would be a great shame to lose the poll entirely here, and so an idea was decided upon where we'll alternate hosting a monthly ETotM thread. This takes the pressure off the huge amount of work that was put in to create and run these polls but also allows it to continue in some form, and for us electronica/Kathaldazia-core fans to still have a place to share and discover new tracks. Thanks to Kath for her hard work on the ETotW threads and to the mods for allowing us to run this.

 

The premise of these threads going forward will be for contributors to nominate tracks in the first week of each new month looking back at the previous month- with myself and Kath still curating/preparing the final list. The themes remain the same as in the original threads, quite broad electronic music but covering the more alternative/niche side of dance music including (but not limited to) Breakbeat, Drum and bass, Jungle, Hardcore, House, Techno, Trance and UK Garage. The remainder of the month is then to be open for votes, I'd suggest selecting your favourite 3 rather than 1 as before as there will be obviously far more tracks to select from. I've put the June 2024 list together (if you want to blame anyone) and I've tried to limit it to artists/genres already covered in the weekly threads and tried to limit the crossover too much with the weekly dance poll, however if you feel there are any notable omissions or simply tracks that you'd like to include then please let me know and I shall make sure they are included in the July 2024 poll.

Love this idea. I never quite managed to find the time to properly interact with the weekly ones as I'd spot them at work and then forget about them before having chance to listen to all the tracks. Having this open for a full month should definitely leave me with no excuses!

Glad this is here, found the weekly polls were often a good source of new songs. Even if I couldn't always listen to them on that week I'd try and catch up.

 

Having said that, there's not much I'm bothered about here :lol: added all the ones I hadn't already come across to my new music playlist last week but haven't kept anything. Voted Boo and Bicep as the only two I've added to regular rotation.
