And a second first ever medal for a country in the Athletics tonight as Thea Lafond from Dominica gets gold in the Triple Jump! A good night for the small nations.
St. Lucia and Dominica getting their first ever Olympic medals, golds, on the exact same day  that's cute. Windward Islands eating good tonight.

Reekie is the second British athlete who said they're in great shape but failed to take advantage of that.
So not only do we have to put up with the ridiculous universality entries in the 100m we also get a qualifying system where you can run faster than others ran in other heats and still get knocked out in other distances. Absolutely ridiculous, should be 8/9 fastest runners on an overall leader board through to the final. None of this crap knocking out faster runners who happened to be in faster heats - totally unfair.

100 % agree with you. Why they don't use swimming system of qualification in athletics ?

A fun evening of athletics. I really thought Kishane Thompson would take the men's 100 m gold but Noah Lyles just pipped him to it. It was so close between them with both having a time of 9.79 but a photo finish made the difference. Keely Hodgkinson comfortably winning her semi final in the women's 800 m, she will probably go on to win gold in the final.

3 medals for Ukraine was heart-warming to see as well including gold and bronze in the women's high jump. Canada won gold in the men's hammer throw.

Happy Lyles won, as much as he is arrogant (a proper trait of track & field stars) I think he's box office. Looking forward to seeing Duplantis tomorrow!
the women high jump was a great watch and gold +bronze for Ukraine!!

Fantastic Keely Hodgkinson!

Ran from the front and never looked in danger .

Superb race .

Great win from Keely. Such a calm and composed finish. Definitely will inspire a new generation of runners
Gold for Keely Hodgkinson! Last Dreamer will be happy.

Queen. :cheer:

The previous Olympic day brought some negative emotions, so her win became even more important.

Duplantis is actually insane - what he is doing is incredible and he's so far ahead of his competiton it's crazy.
