About time too. She’s been a complete flop of an abandoned spouse so far. It doesn’t appear that she’s contacted the police about her missing husband or even thought ‘maybe he’s gone back to where we first met and where he lived a life with his first wife, daughter and childhood friends’.

They really rushed to get something to write Bernie out, the way they’ve completely not used her lately they’re obviously not arsed and just decided to ruin her character. I don’t see what was wrong with her just leaving to be with her mum as there’s nothing for her here, really she could have left with Karen in the first place.

I genuinely have no clue what the show can do with Elaine outside of the Vic. It will be so unnatural to see her propping up a market stall or working at Kathy‘s.

The Albert would have been her natural place but given her nemesis now owns it, it seems unlikely.

I never disliked Elaine before but in these episodes she is a new level of insufferable. I could see Ben Wadey writing her out tbh, Linda could easily reposition pretty much anywhere with another business but I agree I just can’t see Elaine anywhere, especially without George or a real family unit of her own.

Also Vicki is really coming into her own lately, f***ing DIVA

I hope they don't have Elaine go... but then it does feel like its heading that way. She's perfect for a place like the Vic.

Maybe she teams up with Cindy and helps her to run The Albert?

Aside from that, I can't see her fitting in anywhere else on the Square

Easiest storyline (apart from saying she's staying in Spain) is her leaving with Freddie.

It's like her acting gangsta vs Shsron. It's ridiculous.

Anna and Bernie going wont have any impact, i do like Bernie in her own way, Anna im not so keen on, i find her acting extremely wooden.

I think Elaine’s health turn was more of a story thing to get her to realise what’s important and skip the stress of fighting Linda etc. I do think her character is up though, they haven’t made it easy to like her when many people weren’t keen anyway! I think her taking her share and going off living a nice life would work for her.

I can see Felix getting cold feet over Johnny and probably leaving with Bernie, they’ve really done nothing with Felix the entire time and basically morning with Bernie since the Six so I’m not arsed about either of them going tbh.

Also starting to fear that Tish Dean has done a Linda Henry, Zak renting the house out when Vicki and Ross were gonna be thrown out 👀

I don’t think I’ve ever seen less chemistry than between Johnny and Felix. It’s really truly just giving that they had sod all else to do with him and just shoved him with the only available gay. But then this iteration of Johnny is so wooden I’m not sure he could have chemistry with anyone.

Actually couldn't care less about Ben "not behaving" in prison and Lexi whining on about Lola still. I was against Callum and Johnny being a thing but if it gives Callum an actual storyline so let's see where it goes. It'd be a good catalyst for Ben's return just for the dramas.

That was a surprisingly decent exit for Bernie and Felix considering how sidelined they’d both become.

Felix had a lot of untapped potential, being a drag queen offered something new to the show. But they gave him a dead dad in week one and then ignored him until the last month or so. He had a lot more to give but they never used him and if they never would, it made sense for him to leave.

Bernie was a similar case. It’s amazing to think she lasted 8 years-twice as long as Lynne Slater or Laura Beale. Longer than Zainab, Heather, both of Mel’s stints put together. Longer than David Wicks, Steve Owen and even Dirty Den’s two stints. When you consider that, it’s amazing how little she managed to do in that time.

It feels like the first plan for her was immediately dropped-I’m amazed they remembered her miscarriage tonight. Then the next plan also quickly got dropped though it heavily involved chess so maybe that was a good thing. With her coming out it felt like it might have gone somewhat by then she was dropped for years. Just one shot of her crying when her sister died and a comedy surrogacy storyline that saw her offscreen for almost all of it. She only picked up any momentum once they killed her brother off and she was written into a corner and unrealistically let his murderer’s get away with it. She was great but they didn’t know what to do with her.

At least they got focus in their final week, I guess.

Insufferable acting again for her final few episodes. Thank God bernie has gone!
