I just noted your nationality as a point that generally the tories haven’t done very well in wales, hope no offence was taken.

I know this was the worst and most crooked bunch since the last under Thatcher/Major but people still forgot them by 2008 onwards so I have no hope that they won’t bounce back like they always do unfort, only difference now is brexit and reform in the mix but if Labour bring competence and truth based public service back there’s a good chance this will reduce the popularity of the populists but guess this also is effected by the situation world wide as well!

I mean, I was only 8 when those Tories left office but even I know that they weren’t as openly crooked as this last shower. They did some horrific things but there was a sense they believed them the right things to do whereas this last lot just wore it right on their sleeves, particularly Johnson onwards.

Hard to disagree!

It’s the mix of populism which is very untory this time which has taken their party over in a way which is completely against what they stand for. Guess it was similar in the 1930s when a lot of tories (and some Labourites) were attracted to fascism but that was when democracy was only fully evolved in the parliamentary system for 2 generations max!

The corruption of the last Tory government was beyond what I would ever have thought possible in the UK.

The contracts for PPE in the pandemic summed it up. This version is a bit of an exaggeration, but not much.

On the one hand, they had companies saying “Supplying PPE is our business. Tell us what you want and we will supply it a reasonable price”.

OTOH, there were newly-formed companies whose top bods were saying “My mate is a Tory MP. He tells me you need lots of PPE. We have no experience in supplying PPE. To be honest, until last week, I thought it stood for Politics, Philosophy and Economics. No matter, we’ll give supplying it a go. It might not be any good, but at least I’ll get the money. Isn’t that what having friends in high places is all about? »

It's hilarious that the Tory party is so split that the "winner" of the first ballot didn't even get one quarter of the available vote. Three MPs thought that there wasn't anyone worth voting for
Unfort Jenerick was the leader, prob the most right wing one!

Interestingly they're all pretty much running on a right-wing manifesto, even the most liberal candidate seems to want to take us out of the ECHR. Suspect this is what's inevitable that is going to happen at some point. People are going to end up voting to take their human rights away just so we can send people on small boats away. Absolutely bonkers.

They are all basically nativists and anti globalisation candidates, that’s the divide in politics now!
Jenrick now bookies favourite ahead of Badenach who was before.

James Cleverly has leapt to the lead with Tom knocked out. From the little bits I’ve seen Jenrick has been acting like he’s running for prime minister of Israel and Kemi has not been great so this actually makes sense even if James isn’t too impressive either

Not sure where the latest votes will go though, suspect Jenrick. Not sure Cleverley wins in the Membership vote though..

So James Cleverly is out of the running - was sort of expecting him to end up winning based on him seeming to have momentum.

The Tories are (even more) screwed with either Badenoch or Jenrick as Leader

Bizarre, not really sure how that all played out whether it was tactics gone wrong or right. Seems like Kemi will be fav to win but she just doesn’t seem like a leader at all. She gives off 6th form debate vibes. Jenrick is riddled with corruption. Tough choice
Always nice to see the Tory party screw themselves over.....
