Yes I feel for the people of Belfast right now. Crazy that the rioters are just attacking anyone and anything...

What shouldn't be lost in this however is the brutal actions of that perpetrator. Most definitely the most barbaric thing I've seen since the Lee Rigby murder...

  • I’m not sure giving the public more information right there and then would have changed anything. The morons still would have rioted no matter what information was at their disposal.

  • I fundamentally don't understand the point Liam is trying to make. Why should the general public know detailed facts from ANY ongoing criminal investigation in real-time unless it is a warning of a d

  • I feel we're all talking in circles here and missing the point of what happened here, emotionally getting involved in one side or the other. As they often do, misinformation spreaders and right-wing

I think that the guy that did this clearly has serious mental health issues after what happened.

That’s not condoning it in the slightest just the narrative from the right wingers over here in the DUP and the English ones try to use these events to create a narrative about immigration and in the dups case the open border between north and south of Ireland.

All the talk by the DFM about addressing ‘legitimate concerns’ annoys me because legitimate concerns for these people is not wanting a nationalist or nowadays people of colour or different religions in ‘their areas’. Just plain racism!

If it was a bunch of Asian people running riot instead, would they be banging on about "legitimate concerns"?

The eye gouging and attempted beheading took place 5 minutes away from where I live, it's an area I'm very familiar with, and the video was absolutely horrific to watch. The man who has potentially saved the victim's life with the hurley bat is slowly becoming a folk hero since the incident - £30k was raised on a Crowdfunder to buy him a pint, which he is going to donate to the victim & his family. There will be questions raised about the vetting of the alleged attacker (his asylum application was fast-tracked at the time), which will cause problems for Reform UK trying to make hay out of this incident, give that in 2023 when he was granted leave to remain, the people in charge and who praised this particular scheme were Suella Braveman and...Robert Jenrick.

And regardless of the heinousness of the assault, that does not excuse the horrific, inexcusable violence that took place in Belfast and further afield in NI over the past two nights, with the targeting of innocent people who have absolutely nothing to do with this incident. And the last thing we need with an ongoing homelessness and housing crisis is tens of social housing units being taken out of commission by the f-wits who just want to spread violence and intimidation.

I'm hoping that we're over the worst of the violence, the weather's been terrible today which tends to dampen protests, although the buses out of Belfast are stopping at 5.30, which suggests there's the potential for trouble.

It's horrendous to see, that's two in a short span of time where a single psychotic individual that happened to be from another country has resulted in widespread violence, and unfortunately we have prominent politicians egging them on with the 'legitimite concerns' bullshit, naming no names of course...

Forgive the dark humour in this circumstance, but it is relevant

Farage, Lowe, Yaxley-Lennon and co are inciting racial hatred. They are supported by the likes of Elon Musk who thinks apartheid South Africa was a bit left-wing. The right=wing press abandoned any idea of reporting facts many years ago. This is all very frightening.
