Posted August 3, 2024Aug 3 What Should Have Been the 5th single from Dannii's 'Neon Nights'. A little poll for you Buzzjack members to vote for your choice out of the 11 album tracks. I've only included the standard edition tracks as the bonus ones didn't come out until much later. Although I did include 'Come and Get It' as it was actually featured on the original version as a hidden track. As you may or may not know that there was a 5th single planned as both 'It Won't Work Out' & 'Come and Get It' were given single remixes and they did appear on the singles release schedules in early 2004. Both were of course scrapped, do you agree with these choices or do you think that the album has more to offer? August 3, 2024Aug 3 Author My choice would have been 'For The Record', with the Luke Mornay Thirst Trap remix been used as its single release. This remix really makes the song POP even more and breathes life into the original album version. This version could have easily been another hit from the album. rQ8es28EPkU
August 3, 2024Aug 3 This is such a good question!! ^ The remix that you suggest is epic. I think most of the album would have produced another hit! Creep is very popular however im leaning towards Vibe On , she could really go there with the video. I do love Push and On The Loop! Mystified also !!! EDIT - Just listened to all the songs i mentioned! Has to be Creep can my vote be changed from Mystified to Creep! Dannii when asked this question always says Creep!! August 3, 2024Aug 3 I'm not sure, I feel like the era went as far as it could. I think I'd say 'Creep' would be my next pick but I wouldn't call it a greatly missed single opportunity. Ideally they'd have released this version of 'Come and Get It' in 2004 as JCA feat. Dannii to tide us over until we got an actual proper follow-up to Neon Nights but sadly it didn't work out that way. UgPK9hmjclg?si
August 4, 2024Aug 4 Every song should have been a single. One of my most favourite and well aged albums of all time

I would say it's a huge pitty dannii didn't capitalise more straight after the 4 top 10 hits from the album as I felt thinks went flat quickly. Maybe the opportunities weren't there but a dew features like who do you love now would have kept her profile higher and neon Nights might have picked up a few casual sales.
August 4, 2024Aug 4 I think Dannii's label going bust after Neon Nights is what really threw the spanner in the works for her, unfortunately. And then a few bad decisions after that.
August 4, 2024Aug 4 If Neon Nights stayed exactly as it was but recorded and released with a different label a follow up by Danni would have come and prolonged the success she was achieving.
August 5, 2024Aug 5 Creep was the top 5 hit that Dannii would have had + a bootleg to it + pushing the album back up.
August 5, 2024Aug 5 It had such a strong run of singles I don’t think there were any major missed opportunities for another single, although she could’ve easily scored another Top 10 back then off the back of her renewed success and the CD1/CD2 releases. My choice would have been 'For The Record', with the Luke Mornay Thirst Trap remix been used as its single release. This remix really makes the song POP even more and breathes life into the original album version. This version could have easily been another hit from the album. rQ8es28EPkU This would’ve totally worked and been a hit.
August 5, 2024Aug 5 I'm not sure if that would have got her a 5th top 10 as the singles that followed all had 2 cd formats and it didn't happen but she easily would have got another top 20 out of it.

August 5, 2024Aug 5 Neon Nights really only had 3 singles as WDYLN was a feature and not part of the album plan. Creep music video would have been sick!
August 7, 2024Aug 7 Author Do agree that 'Creep' probably would have been the best choice & if I remember correctly wasn't it in consideration as the 4th single but lost out to 'Don't Wanna Lose This Feeling' in some sort of vote. That remix of 'Come and Get It' may have worked, but dunno why 'It Won't Work Out' was even considered as that would have missed the top 10.
August 7, 2024Aug 7 Neon Nights really only had 3 singles as WDYLN was a feature and not part of the album plan. Creep music video would have been sick! When looking at it that way the album really should have got another single especially when the success of DWLTD was largely down to the remix.
August 7, 2024Aug 7 'Creep' would be my main choice, I also think 'Hey! (So What)' sounds like a single but I know many here don't like it. The proposed single mix of 'It Won't Work Out' is the better version of the song but I'm still not crazy over it, I guess the intention would be to drive sales for the album in Q4 had it been released. That JCA version of 'Come and Get It' is good, I think in either form that could have been a good single too.
