Based on the numbers in the overview, Tension has sold 3500 since mid-August.

Almost certainly Gold by Xmas.

If Tension goes Gold by Christmas i think it will be the skin of its teeth unless Kylie is back in the UK doing promo.

Kylie's 10 UK #1 albums:

1. Kylie (1988, age 20)

2. Enjoy Yourself (1989, age 21)

3. Greatest Hits (1992, age 24)

4. Fever (2001, age 33)

5. Aphrodite (2010, age 42)

6. Golden (2018, age 49)

7. Step Back in Time: The Definitive Collection (2019, age 51)

8. Disco (2020, age 52)

9. Tension (2023, age 55)

10. Tension II (2024, age 56)

#1s per decade:

80s: 2

90s: 1

00s: 1

10s: 3

20s: 3

We're still not quite half way through the 2020s, so still plenty of time to make this the decade with her most #1s! :o

#1s per age group:

20s: 3

30s: 1

40s: 2

50s: 4

Who'd have thought her 50s would be the time she'd really rack up the #1 albums!

Funny to think that the 2000s and her 30s was one of the most prolific times of her career, but with only one (hugely successful) #1 album in this period to show for it.

I'm sure she will pull out all the stops to get a number 1 in the next decade to achieve the record of having a number 1 in 6 consecutive decades.

Let's hope so! Kylie still releasing albums in her 60s and getting #1s would be awesome

Looking at the list of artists with the most #1 albums in the UK, here's where Kylie places:

1. 16 #1s - The Beatles (11 studio albums)

=2. 14 #1s - The Rolling Stones (11 studio albums)

=2. 14 #1s - Robbie Williams (11 studio albums)

4. 13 #1s - Elvis Presley (4 studio albums)

=5. 12 #1s - Madonna (9 studio albums)

=5. 12 #1s - Bruce Springsteen (11 studio albums)

=5. 12 #1s - Taylor Swift (12 studio albums)

=8. 11 #1s - David Bowie (9 studio albums)

=8. 11 #1s - Eminem (10 studio albums)

=8. 11 #1s - Rod Stewart (8 studio albums)

=8. 11 #1s - U2 (10 studio albums)

=12. 10 #1s - ABBA (6 studio albums)

=12. 10 #1s - Coldplay (10 studio albums)

=12. 10 #1s - Michael Jackson (5 studio albums)

=12. 10 #1s - Kylie Minogue (8 studio albums)

=12. 10 #1s - Queen (7 studio albums)

=17. 9 #1s - Bob Dylan (9 studio albums)

=17. 9 #1s - Take That (7 studio albums)

Abba could have 1 more very soon but she should overtake them, U2, Rod Stewart eventually and maybe Bruce Springsteen especially as release less frequently.

Hopefully Tension has surpassed 97k with the week just passed.

On daily streams chiggy wiggy now in her top 40 doing a solid 20k+ per day.

Magic also doing well, over 40m streams (another 10m if you include single edit) and doing a solid 15k+ per day

550,108 was shared on 13th October, which I guess is its total from Friday 11th October? And if this new total is as of the 25th… then that’s 5,122 sales in 2 weeks, 2,561 per week on average.

If that pace is maintained then it’s going to take another 18 weeks for it to go Platinum, which would be 28th February 2025. Maybe we should anticipate it happening in March if it was to slow down a little bit?

^^ Decent weekly sales too, am hoping it gets a boost from NY/Christmas party playlists too.
Well we know that platinum certification is coming fairly soon. Wish we had a total for the Tension single, oh and the Disco ones too ha ha.

I'm surprised nothing from Disco is silver yet, considering each of Say Something, Magic, and Real Groove have already outstreamed Dancing while A Second To Midnight is almost there. I'm comparing them to Dancing because it went dancing in October 2020, 2 years and 9 months after release. Comparatively, each of the first three Disco singles have been out for 4 years now, and even A Second To Midnight has been out for 3 years now. Those download sales must have really made a difference for Dancing!

Also Dancing did well on UK streaming. There was an OCC report not so long ago and it was high up. Together with strong downloads it helped it go silver. She promoted the era much more too.

…that said surely Magic and Real Groove are close and Tension too. Say Something seemed to drop back by comparison but who knows it may have done better UK only.

Hopefully in the not too distant future she starts picking up some silver certifications for other BMG era singles! Particularly Tension (song), that would be a nice bonus on top of the fact it went Top 20.
It would be nice to see some certifications coming through maybe as Padam Padam goes platinum Tension will go silver.
