some of these questions are so difficult, I don't know whether to search out the most niche answers possible or go for the most blatantly obvious ones in the hope nobody's gone with them!

That's what everyone else has to decide too. :P

Answers sent. Some of those questions are certainly a choice... not sure what others think and not to be overly critical but there are a couple of questions with just 2 or 3 possible answers, and I don't think that really works because it's then down to pure luck whether you do well, with very little element of skill/thinking. I know too many possible answers is also not ideal, but number 7 is a good question as there are lots of possible answers and some research required :)
Oh I love the questions with minimal answers, can turn the game around for someone who's had a shocking start so no one is left lagging behind. I'll never forget Bré's iconic "name a team who contests the Ashes" question way back when,

You say that, but for question 3 there are still loads of correct pointless answers that nobody has said yet!

I also prefer the ones that need a bit of research myself. There definitely will be some where’s it’s pretty much going to be pot luck how many points you score. But it’s up to the quizmaster how they pitch it ultimately and I can certainly see the case for having some low effort high turnout quizzes on the forum.

This is just the opening week, I didn't want to put people off taking part in future week's quizzes by making it really tricky! :P Maybe in future weeks the difficulty level will step up, but as you say, that depends on the host and what questions they choose for their quiz.

must remember to actually take part in quizzes I like this stuff

True. Research is good, if possible, a list of all possible answers not being easily searchable is good, even loopholes are good (fwiw it's right to close off the non-UK charts loophole in this case because that's too easily abusable but allowing for people to laterally interpret your wording in a way most won't is a fun little sidequest of Pointless). Though a chart pointless probably has different priorities to a general pointless.

Question 7 is great, with that in mind, I also very much enjoyed 3, 4, 8 and 10.

Yeah, I think my favourite type of question would be one which is a list of relatively finite answers which aren't easily searchable e.g. name an artist who has had exactly a certain number of top 10 hits or whatever. Now that you mention a chart pointless, maybe I'll run one of those later in the season :)
