Not an Oasis fan but at all but since when was Live Forever their biggest hit? :???:

It didn't chart that highly upon release because it was only their third single and they weren't quite at the stratospheric levels they were with Morning Glory yet, but it's definitely a classic and is frequently cited as one of their best songs. Would be absolutely here for it getting a new peak <3

Great to see 'Live Forever' doing so well <3 although from a chart geek perspective I'll be sad if it re-peaks higher than #8 and spoils the beautiful ascending peaks from the start of their career

I've always loved those ascending peaks from Oasis's first few singles (reminds me of Travis's similarly impressive run of 8 singles each of which peaked higher than the previous one) - agreed it would be a shame if 'Live Forever' breaks that!
I'm most surprised by She's Electric. Is there any particular reason why that's doing so well?

It seems to have been big on streaming for some years. I often hear it played on commercial radio too as if it were a single at the time, I'm sure I even heard it on Heart several times a few years ago.

I think it was in that countdown of the top 100 pre-2000 songs on streaming that was run a couple of years ago.

Pretty sure the old release will be a separate entry on Polyhex and the OCC records, and it won’t change the fact that their first six releases had that pattern. :)

^this.

Shes electric is a fan favourite I believe.

The OCC have continued the original records of the charting Oasis songs. 'Live Forever' could become their first song not to peak on its 1st chart week, by peaking on its 70th week instead, and more than 30 years after its debut!

Yeah went to St Matthews street last month and it was on every performers set list :P

It isn't or at least has never been regarded as such until now. Obviously its not a deep cut or anything either but Wonderwall and DLBIA are far more omnipresent and well known to the general public. That's why i'm so thrilled its Live Forever that is peaking highest now and also because its one of my faves.

I'd say 'She's Electric' is possibly the most famous song never released as a single, probably along with 'Champagne Supernova' and 'Morning Glory' - unless anyone can think of any more famous non-singles than those?

I think maybe Til I Collapse by Eminem could be a contender.

They would definitely all be up there at the top of that list i'd say.

Led Zep's Stairway To Heaven is the first other track that comes to mind.

This

That was quite normal in those days for a fanbase to build!

There’s probably a lot of The Beatles songs that fit that category!

Unsurprisingly they came to mind for me too - ‘Here Comes The Sun’ is their most streamed song and it was merely an album track.

For what it's worth, "'Till I Collapse" is the most streamed non-single on Spotify.*

But defining singles is tricky, especially nowadays where you're less likely to get definitive physical releases. Like if we're being strict, "Last Night" by Morgan Wallen was never released as a single. It doesn't have artwork, or a music video. It was released before the album, but part of a "3 Songs At A Time Sampler" (which still didn't have its own artwork). The only thing it has going for it to define it as a single is that it got promoted to radio, but then so did "Stairway To Heaven". A lot of the time it feels like a technicality as to what is and isn't a single, and very rarely do I see it consistently followed.

*At least that's what Wikipedia says, but then I think it should be "I Wanna Be Yours" by Arctic Monkeys? I can't see anything that makes it a single

Arctics-Mardy Bum or 505 for me, never ever heard or even read about Til I Collapse

think it all depends on who you ask

Yeah I’d agree that I Wanna Be Yours is the most streamed non-single on Spotify
