Q9) Including Greatest Hits albums (but not solo albums) how many albums have The Wanted, JLS and One Direction released combined?

15

Another question where you had to get the answer spot on to get any points so congratulations to those of you who did. One Direction have released 5 albums, The Wanted have released 4 albums and JLS have released 6, combining them to get 15 albums.

Q10) How many years were there between The Beatles first charting single and their most recent chart hit?

61

Congratulations if you guessed that this would be the most correctly answered question in the quiz! The Beatles had their first charting single in October 1962 with 'Love Me Do' and their most recent in November 2023 with 'Now and Then'.

I'm furious at myself for that one as I was almost certain their first hit was in 1962 but something possessed me to change my mind at the last and count from 1960.

I would personally also accept 60 years as a valid answer.

Dammit, I thought the Beatles' first hit was in 1963 :(

I wasn't completely sure about Q9, I know for a fact 1D have released 5 albums, but with The Wanted and JLS I guessed that they both also released 5 each, so I'm glad I arrived at the correct answer even if my logic wasn't quite correct :) really didn't think JLS had released as many as 6 albums, I guess I forgot about their recent comeback album - I'm glad I did forget though, as otherwise I would have guessed one too many and lost out on 10 points!

Now I have realised that this question may have been worded ambiguously, with some people potentially only counting the years between 1962 and 2023 (eg. 60) so I'm tempted to also give out points for those people. What does everybody else think?

I mean, I don't think it was worded that ambiguously but I can see why people would have misunderstood it. In any case I wouldn't be against you handing out points for guessing 60 :P

Q11) How many top 40 singles (including features) has Future appeared on?

12

I put this question in thinking that it may trip quite a few people out, with Future one of those rappers who seems like he has featured on many different random people's songs, but in the end he has only had 12 top 40 appearances. Congrats to those people who got it spot on!

For The Beatles question, I will accept 60 and I hope this doesn't seem harsh but not 62. I don't think if you say 'how many years between' you would count the initial year (as in 1962) as part of the total.
I think 60 and 62 could both be correct answers. 62 would be the answer if you counted 1962 and 2023 as both being part of the total.

I think that's a bit of a stretch. To extrapolate, let's say the question is "how many years were there between 1962 and 1964?" I would read that and say the answer is 2, and I can see why some people would say 1. But would 3 also be accepted as a valid answer? If yes then you can count 62 as a correct answer, but I'm not sure it should count.

I think the Future question was my least accurate of all questions, I put 40

Btw I just checked and while the OCC lists Future as having 12 Top 40s, polyhex lists him as having 13 - he was on Fred Again's 'Turn On The Lights Again', on which he's credited on polyhex but not on the OCC. So you may wish to give ~1^∞ and Mack 10 points for saying 13, idk?

Two 10 pointers, hurrah! The boyband one was a complete guess as I just went for 5 each, but I did know the Beatles as their red album title states it is 1962

Same I did put 30

I thought Future had had lots and lots

Edited by Bjork

Wait I’m sure I got the Future one right? Did I not send my answer for that one?
Future doesn't have anywhere near the commercial acumen as one would expect at least in the UK. You'd think he'd be like a mini-Drake racking up top 40s out of nowhere with al the features but I knew his total was shockingly low but even I overestimated it!
Same I did put 30

I thought he had had lots and lots as feature

I think the beatles one is a basic substraction lol

Not sure why you’re giving points to 60

Its people who thought wrongly the first beatles was in 63

Dan has explained why. It's basically the same premise as this:

I think that's a bit of a stretch. To extrapolate, let's say the question is "how many years were there between 1962 and 1964?" I would read that and say the answer is 2, and I can see why some people would say 1. But would 3 also be accepted as a valid answer? If yes then you can count 62 as a correct answer, but I'm not sure it should count.

I will hold my hands up and say that it was 1963 which is why I put 60, so I was happy to accept that I lost points on that question, but if Dan has decided to give points to people who put 60 because of the ambiguity of the question then it's fair that anyone who put 60 gets the points I think. But if anyone wants to take 10 points off me because I genuinely thought their first hit was 1963 then I will accept that!
