I think four collaborations in such a short time are kind of cannibalising each other which is why her daily Spotify streams seem to be actually down from what they were earlier this year. She might have gained some new monthly listeners but they are not changing anything in the big picture. I would also argue that these particular collaborations aren't different enough from each other to really serve a purpose - which has been a bit unclear to me at least.

God help all musicians trying to get their songs listened too on that platform.

 

Don’t take it so seriously - the fact is under 300k across 4 songs when other fanbases are involved (Tove, Beba, The Blessed Madonna, Diplo, Orville & Sia) is not impressive, it’s decent for Kylie and I’m pleased we have the songs and she’s enjoying what she is doing but those streaming numbers globally are poor with the forces of multiple fanbases.

Agree - they almost feel like fun side projects but they’ve gone to the effort of physicals, videos etc and not really pushed any of them properly.

What I wrote isn’t about her age! I didn’t use the word rubbish either. :P

 

It’s just that the existence of these collabs is being framed as though it’s a master stroke, that would do great things for a (still unconfirmed) Tension reissue. They’re not good enough numbers for that.

I still think that Kylie will be singing a song from Tension when Netflix Serries The Residence comes out hopefully later this year.

The only thing we doubt is the Initial Talk Remix of My Oh My which he said was I'm unofficial eventhough he did the remix and a video for it.... so maybe a read herring?

We technically don't have a topic for Tension - 16th album, but I'll say this here: it was released 1 year ago today!

Happy 1st birthday Tension and its nice we are excited for new stuff on its anniversary and know we are getting it.

Is gold by Christmas a bit too much to hope for, perhaps?

 

It's really barely selling anything so it will take longer I think.

The last update for Tension was 11 weeks ago, where it had sold 93,324. Current sales are 96,532, meaning it sold 3,208 copies in 11 weeks, which means it sold roughly 291 copies a week.

 

There’s 9 weeks left this year, which if it continued selling at this rate would be another 2,624 copies by the end of the year and would bring Tensions sales to 99,156 by the end of the year. So should go Gold (finally) by the end of January.

 

God, that’s enough maths for one day.

The snail pace to 100k :drama: Feels like it’s taken so long to (almost) achieve it - hopefully it’ll make it by year end, especially with so many of the vinyl variants constantly on offer.

It does feel like it will never happen and to be honest when it was released i never expected this and certainly didnt expect it when we saw the first week sales.

Without a doubt it'll happen no later than towards the start of 2025, but indeed, on the day that Tension was revealed to have sold 53k in its first week, I would never have believed that it would take this long to reach 100k!

The HMV Sale has started - no reductions for T2 but a few for Tension

 

Well at least Tension might pick up a few sales, i dont know what influence the labels have for sales such as HMV but if they have a say i think they are daft not to have further reductions especially on Tension 2.
