Ugh, 'Sure' has to rank as one of Take That's worst singles! I'd take every other song in that top 10 over it and yes I am including the R. Kelly song in that!

Edited by Mangø

I wonder if there's a chance they play a Liam/1D song even if it doesn't make the top 40 as a tribute? If you recall, One Direction were the sole exception during the 'top 25' phase of broadcasting where they played their track Infinity (#36) for seemingly no reason at all.
Hoping Juno has just done enough to chart today. Wonder if Dirty Cash will get a reset...

Will be interesting to see if they reset 1D tracks for the chart next week. There's a case for it for sure

Any that increase in streaming by more than 25% will qualify as none have charted in the past 3 years!

The rules seem to have gone out the window lately so I’d me more surprised if they didn’t reset them tbh

Biography

In an Apple Music interview from mid-2020, The Kid LAROI reminisced about the short but formative time he spent in LA living with the late emo rapper Juice WRLD. They’d hang out all day, bonding, making music, seeing friends, whatever. People always coming and going, never a dull moment. Sometimes, Juice would wake LAROI up in the middle of the night, wild with excitement about a track LAROI had to put a verse on. Other mornings, LAROI would wake up to his and Juice’s managers saying it was time to pack up and head to Texas. Like, now. He was 15, 16 years old. “I’d never experienced anything like that,” he said. “Especially coming from Australia, where everything is kind of like its own bubble.” Not that 15-year-olds outside Australia would be used to it either. But such is the meteoric ascent of a talented young rapper circa 2020. Born Charlton Howard in 2003, LAROI—whose name is a reference to the Kamilaroi Indigenous nation, in which he has family roots—grew up in the suburbs of Sydney, and began to work on music when he was a pre-teen. Like Juice WRLD, Post Malone or even Lil Peep, LAROI’s key tracks—“ALWAYS DO”, “TRAGIC” and the Juice WRLD collaboration “GO”—blend ultra-melodic trap with shades of alternative rock and classic pop, a fusion that has put him on the front burner of pop-rap. His first album, F*CK LOVE, hit the Top 10 before he turned 18. - Apple Music

Skepta and Flo Milli

Why Lie?

170x170bb.jpg

4th single from Knife and Fork

Released: 11th October 2024

Label: Big Smoke Records

Video

Biography

In 2004, Skepta united 10 North London MCs (including his younger brother and Boy Better Know collective co-founder Jme) for his debut single, “Private Caller,” orchestrating one of grime’s all-time crew anthems. The track offered a glimpse at the DJ-turned-MC’s destiny: a fearless director and lightning rod for grime’s frenzied, communal energy. Earning plaudits in his early days as a producer for Meridian Crew, Skepta used charged-up electro synths, disordered sample slices, and sharp bass knocks in his revolutionary approach—and became synonymous with grime's early period of proliferating instrumental “riddims” to be vocaled over. Drawing influence from the cultural melting pot of '90s council estates, the mic mastery of Jamaican soundsystem deejays and his own Nigerian heritage, the Tottenham native (born Joseph Junior Adenuga) showcased his immense promise with 2007’s debut album Greatest Hits—another moment of bold foreshadowing. Challenges for grime's throne have introduced conflict throughout Skepta's career, perhaps most notably his bouts with onetime BBK member Wiley, which would serve as a promotional boost for Skepta's second LP, 2009’s Microphone Champion. A mixed run of form would follow before he shifted back towards grime's early DIY energy with 2014’s “That’s Not Me”—and helped spark grime’s imperial phase. 2016’s Konnichiwa—with its anarchic spirit and bold anti-austerity messaging—became perhaps his landmark body of work and underlined his status as both a key custodian of the culture and a central figure to grime’s global standing. - Apple Music

Hoping for sympathy to be as high as possible tonight, expecting it to end at about #8/9 though. And hopefully 365 stays in and isn’t booted out by guess or apple being back

Oh I'm so behind on the ACR rules. I thought anything older than 3 years is permanently on ACR regardless of any amount of increase (and regardless of whether it originally spent under 10 weeks in the chart).

(Or did Kate Bush-gate change all that?)

Yup the rule got changed after Kate Bush, now anything over 3 years old can qualify for a reset if it hasn't charted in the past 3 years (this isn't something they follow very strictly though). Christmas songs are exempt from this rule.

The OCC likes its three's!

I imagine even if Christmas songs did follow this rule all the big ones would be on ACR anyway as they'd never not chart for 3 years...

I'm really interested to see which 2nd and 3rd Charli songs make the chart. Could literally be any of Apple, Talk talk, 360, 365. Guess could even chart without a reset
