March 5Mar 5 Author I can't wait for this movie to come out! I've always been a massive fan of the Scary Movie films!
March 5Mar 5 I’m surprised the reaction to the trailer has been so positive.I’m a fan of the first few films but pretty much every joke in this trailer fell flat for me. It seemed to be much more in the vein of the Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer films rather than the Scary Movie films (although, ironically they did write on the original).

They're definitely starting to have a moment again, with last year's Naked Gun reboot doing decent numbers, and Fackham Hall performing better than I expected.I wasn't a fan of the first two Scary Movie films (found them too crass), but enjoyed the more Naked Gun-esque 3 and 4 (never saw 5), so I don't expect to be as keen on this one, given it brings back the original writing cast. Not too sold on the trailer, but if it leads to Hollywood dipping its toes in the spoof genre again in a big way, then Godspeed. Also, Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer, despite being credited as writers, did not contribute anything to the script of Scary Movie. They were credited due to the quirks of the WGA system. Then they used that as leverage to destroy spoof films for everyone.
June 8Jun 8 I didn't think it was that bad, there were some funny moments but it was a parody of a parody and some of it was very on the nose just for the sake of it.

June 9Jun 9 Omg I'm seeing this in like an hour and these comments are not filling me with hope... 😭😭This was my 2 star review of the fifth one... (it has a 1.7 letterboxd average, so I'm one of its comparative supporters 😂)I can't remember enjoying any of the others either, and I don't think I've been tempted to watch any of them since the last one was in the cinema either. Why am I going to see this again? 🤣
June 9Jun 9 It's just playing heavily on nostalgia throughout but it's all very much the same as other films. It'll never be at the original trilogy standards ever again, no matter how much they try. For the sake of seeing the original cast again it was great on that front but was it a necessary addition to the franchise? No.
June 9Jun 9 I didn't laugh once. Everything just felt so try hard. I guess there's a reason I've never felt like re-watching any of the others lol
June 9Jun 9 I actually didn’t think it was that horrible. It’s not as good as the first three though.
Sunday at 12:032 days Horrendous. I don't understand how it is as bad as it is. I have never "loved" any of these films but the first 3 have at least a handful of lols and jokes within them that we can take away, but this was just an absolute MESS and I don't think I laughed, once. Maybe a couple of chuckles but nothing more.
