Posted November 4, 2024Nov 4 https://music.amazon.co.uk/albums/B0DJC4VQ52 After Sam Ryder last year, Tom Grennan has this year's main Amazon Music original song with "It Can't Be Christmas". Congratulations to Tom for getting another Top 5 single, and I look forward to listening to it properly next year ;)
November 4, 2024Nov 4 The fact we already know this is gonna be challenging for #1 in the week after Xmas is quite farcical really, but I look forward to hearing it at some point. Could have done with it being ‘The Best A Man Can Get (Gillette) [Extra-Festive]’ mind :kink:

December 9, 2024Dec 9 Just seen that a CD single is set to release on 20th December. £5.99 for a CD single should dampen demand/impulse buys.
December 11, 2024Dec 11 The release date being the 20th is also after the Christmas chart? Bit odd considering he keeps mentioning to download from Saturday to count towards Christmas number 1 so baffling why the physicals aren't out the same week.
December 11, 2024Dec 11 Probably hoping to do an Ellie Goulding; get #1 the week after Christmas week
October 17Oct 17 So glad! I ordered the CD last December after hearing this at Capital’s Jingle Bell Ball!
October 17Oct 17 Do any of these Amazon exclusives make waves in their second year (when they're usually available on all platforms)? After peaking at #2 in 2023, Sam Ryder topped out at #56 last year.
October 17Oct 17 They can and do re-enter. Jess Glynne and Ellie Goulding also saw chart entries the following year
October 17Oct 17 Author Amazon usually gives them decent playlisting still the year after.I don’t think any of them have actually broken into the public consciousness though.

Also the Ellie one will always be the final no1 of the 2010s 😂

Yeah that's what I was getting at. Seems to be a hard sell to get Christmas songs released in the 21st century to chart highly each year. One More Sleep (Leona Lewis) and Merry Christmas (Ed Sheeran & Elton John) are the two which stand out.

October 17Oct 17 Christmas Lights has also had a comeback in recent years after not impacting besides its initial year of release.
