November 6, 2024Nov 6 I didn’t follow this election as closely as the last 2 because I just had a horrible feeling that it wasn’t even going to be close and sadly that was the case. I suppose it was always going to be an uphill battle considering Kamala’s only had 3 months to campaign, and they frustratingly seem to have fell into the same trap as Hillary by assuming the average voter is smart enough not to vote for Trump. I feel even worse about this than I did about 2016, it’s just going to embolden all of those Elon Musk and Andrew Tate types and their followers. Also, sadly I don’t think America is ready to vote for a woman (especially a WOC) to be president yet Dhe should have kept cslling hin weird. I am very curioud as to what suddenly happenef in October to swing it to Trump. Pollsters were right snd he overperformed again.
November 6, 2024Nov 6 Disappointing result. Trump isn't the worst thing in it - we've already seen 4 years of him - but the government will be full of extreme conservatists which makes it very hard for a regular USA citizen... only the rich will benefit.
November 6, 2024Nov 6 Harris didn’t build up votes in the Dem strongholds so it’s clear white working class rust belt America didn’t vote for her, Biden might have lost but he woulda been voted for by more people the Dems needed. Looks like it eas a mistake to switch Biden out in the end!
November 6, 2024Nov 6 The wordt thing will be geopolitics. Israel given a blank cheque, Russia takes Ukrainian territory officially, and could attack the Baltics, and then we have Taiwan and China...
November 6, 2024Nov 6 Please don’t speak like this. The man is an existential threat. That's the least I hope to happen.
November 6, 2024Nov 6 Looks like it eas a mistake to switch Biden out in the end! The mistake was not switching Biden out sooner. This result is a complete rejection of the Biden administration — fair or not.
November 6, 2024Nov 6 Now's as good a time as any to reiterate that the "just vote" message in 2024 is RIDICULOUSLY naive like we're still living in the Obama era. Innthe future if Democrats want to win they need to be using ALL POSSIBLE TOOLS not just to make themselves appealing, but to compress and reduce the enemy vote numbers. That goes for this country too.
November 6, 2024Nov 6 As Jimmy Kimmel put it Almost 2 years ago on November 15th 2022, former President Donald Trump officially declared himself to be a candidate for president again and now...... 720 days 88 criminal charges 34 felony convictions 4 indictments 2 Democratic opponents 1 garbage truck later
November 6, 2024Nov 6 Surely the worrying thing for the U.K. here is this emboldens Reform and how they try and gain influence within the Tories! I’d be more worried about the tariffs he said he will put on other countries and if Starmer cosies up to him Europe won’t be happy!
November 6, 2024Nov 6 The signs were there — the Democrats were the incumbent party with high inflation and rising costs (post-pandemic or not) — but I thought the negatives surrounding Trump, his baggage, and his poor campaign mostly negated that. Massive yikes. I don't want to think about the next few years.
November 6, 2024Nov 6 Tim Shipman put it well why people vote for Trump: The thing that baffles me is that good and serious people have seen versions of what happened tonight in the US for eight years and are still surprised that people don’t see the world as they do. 1) Voters think “the economy” is “can I afford to live” NOT “we are doing better nationally than others”. Inflation is politically more important than GDP 2) Immigration matters, both the sense of control/uncontrolled and the raw numbers, particularly when money is tight. See 1 3) Don’t take voters for fools: in this case don’t insist a clearly gaga leader is up to the job 4) Don’t try to fight a charismatic opponent with someone who can’t answer basic questions about why they want to be in charge. The ability to communicate is not an optional extra for politicians, it is a core part of the job description 5) Go woke, go politically broke 6) What the metro elites regard as an illogical vote is not necessarily illogical for people who are struggling and angry - see 1,2,3,4,5 Personally I think democracy matters very much and some/much of what Trump says is appalling but until his opponents learn the lessons above, voters will keep voting for someone who manages to encapsulate what they feel
November 6, 2024Nov 6 People are already denying there could possibly by a sexist or racist argument/vote component. Pull the other one.
November 6, 2024Nov 6 I’d be more worried about the tariffs he said he will put on other countries and if Starmer cosies up to him Europe won’t be happy! Bit of both really isn’t it? Europe and the U.K. are going to have to cosy up to him, like it or not. Think the analysis and fallout will come, think the problem was they should have got rid of Biden before the Primaries. We don’t actually know who the actual best candidate would have been for the Democrats. How long until Texas flips blue?
November 6, 2024Nov 6 I'm not even sure I do believe in democracy any more. It used to be that we all lived in the same reality and could agree what a fact was. Nowadays we have people whose entire comsumption of media is propaganda and essentially cult membership, being granted exactly the same weight to cast their view as people who live in the real world.
November 6, 2024Nov 6 Celebs that nailed colours to the mast for Harris might also need to make some serious plans for relocating too; Trump is one mean mofo
November 6, 2024Nov 6 Celebs that nailed colours to the mast for Harris might also need to make some serious plans for relocating too; Trump is one mean mofo Celebrities are another factor why she lost imo, the Dems always do this. Reality is most people get annoyed at people who are in a different economic universe to them what the right and wrong person to vote for is. It probably works against them!

Thid tbh! We all live in segmented bubbles and there is no discussion.
