Just catching up from the first look yesterday, do we reckon band aid are #1 on ACR and if reset, could have double the sales?

If Wham! or Mariah are constantly gonna go #1 every year, OCC will have to do something about it. My suggestion would be for OCC to remove streaming from Christmas songs that are 3 years old and above
If the Band Aid remix is just being combined with the original, I want it to not get #1

They should’ve credited the new version and Band Aid 40 and have them chart separately

I'd may go longer than that - Kelly Clarkson's song for instance took a few years to peak

Given yday monster figures not included I think wham could be ahead but will drop off the next few days and we have no idea if band aid are getting a reset

Amazon’s bumper Sunday is already included - and in chart rules, Wham! were only marginally ahead of Gracie yesterday on Spotify.

I mean they aren’t gonna need to do something about it, they are always the most popular Christmas songs and therefore get streamed more than any other, that’s what the chart is about, the most streamed, bought, downloaded songs etc of the week

It might seem like that but if Wham are only 1400 behind with much lower sales in days previous then clearly yesterdays should take them above. You have to remember there are many versions on Spotify that don’t show up in the top 200 but all get 50+ plus in days like yesterday plus 7-8x more on YouTube and way ahead on apple too. If they do an update tomorrow I’m pretty sure Wham will be ahead

what's confusing is that when the news broke about this new version people were calling Band Aid 40,

the thread we had in here was called Band Aid 40 and even Music Week had a news piece with a Baid Aid 40 logo

but actually it's just a remix so will not be a new entry in the charts

Yes this is why I was confused about it being combined with the original - Band Aid 40 would have made more sense, but there was clearly a change of plan somewhere along the way. May be quite a clever move to combine them actually, in terms of charting as high as possible.

The chart is also supposed to be about new music. The past is the past. They did something about compilations blocking artists from getting #1 album

Generic? Sailor song is a gay anthem how is that generic? Its the opposite of generic lol

Go listen to shakin stevens on repeat lol

How does it being a gay anthem preclude it from being generic? Not that I agree it's generic but that statement doesn't make sense. 'Sailor Song' is fine but personally I find it a bit dull and forgettable. Surely it must be due to hit ACR any day now?

Why do you keep randomly picking Shakin Stevens as a jibe every time someone dares to say something negative about Sailor Song or your precious Gracie Abrams?

for me, a song like I'm in love with the shape of you lalala that's generic

a gay lesbian anthem where roles are reversed and women are seen as strong, as a sailor, which would be a traditional man job

so i'd say it's the opposite of generic

it's actually the first proper lesbian #1 ever I think

Tom Grennan looking to get a second solo Top 10 thanks to the power of Amazon.

What's helped Taylor Swift return to the top of the albums?

Does this give us an indication as to whether 'Do They Know It's Christmas?' has been reset?

The Anthology edition has been released on CD and vinyl. I'm intrigued to see the sales!

You have to remember there are many versions on Spotify that don’t show up in the top 200 but all get 50+ plus in days like yesterday

There are two (or 3) other versions and they don’t get massive numbers of streams.
