Hello and welcome to the results of the sophomore song contest hosted in the 21st Century Throwback forum - Bop Idol 2! :welcome:

 

The theme of the contest is... Bring The Drama! :drama:

 

 

Here I asked for songs which have some sort of switch-up midway through - 20 people entered and we have a FULL HOUSE of votes, with no penalties! :cheer:

 

Below are the 20 songs battling it out to be the second winner of this contest. As always, please do not reveal or hint at your entry until it has been are announced!

 

 

I was originally going to present these results tomorrow evening, so apologies if you had hoped to follow along then, however with two other song contests on the go elsewhere on Buzzjack, the time is right for the winner of this one to be announced today!

 

I’ll see how I go for time, but I’ll definitely be taking a break at some point this afternoon, with the last few results revealed this evening!

So for added dramatic effect, I’ll start by revealing how many 1, 2 and 3 point scores every song received! The voters who provided those scores will at that point remain anonymous.

 

I’ll then go through the voters one by one, to reveal which song they entered, and their full vote – although as their 1-3 point scores will already have been counted, only their scores of 4 and above will be added to the scoreboard. As we have 2 guest voters, there are 22 sets of votes to go through, until one entrant will be crowned the winner!

So 'Mykonos' was my entry and the inspiration for the contest theme! It's one of my favourite charting songs of 2009, when it reached #51 in the UK, however I hadn't realised until recently that it has over 280 million streams on Spotify, more even than 'White Winter Hymnal'!

 

I gave my top points to Mercury Rev - it had been a fairly prominent Top 20 hit in 2002, but it's one of my absolute favourites of that time. Everything else bar the Muse song, which I was less familiar with than the other singles from Absolution, was a discovery for me.

This will be Mercury Rev vs Muse for the win.
