Omg I just listened that Peggy song. The lyrics are indeed WILD! Could see it being a big hit in the new year.

Wham forever tbh.

Though I wouldn’t mind a different Xmas song get their turn at #1 eventually. Brenda’s year is coming. :kink:

Spotify updated, close at the top

1 Thats so true 481K

2 Wham 948/2=474K

3 Mariah 820/2=410K

4 Brenda 786/2=393K

5 APT 364K

Peggy down to #184 by the way

Bea up to #165

Compared to equivalent Saturday last year:

Wham! down 17k

Mariah down 91k

Brenda up 12k

Jingle Bell Rock up 24k

Santa Tell Me down 34k

Most Wonderful Time of the Year up 16k

Kelly up 53k

Pogues down 182k

Dean Martin down 27k

Buble's It's Beginning to Look a lot Like Christmas is down 285k with Perry Como's version up 188k following the playlist movements

The Pogues' year on year comparison will now obviously be distorted a bit by the fact we've now passed the 1 year mark since Shane's death.

Correct - Although I would've hoped the improved playlisting would offset it more than it has, a bit concerned in won't make the top 10 officially this year now.

Brenda could genuinely overtake Mariah soon, its worth bearing in mind there's a second version of Brenda which isn't combined so she's probably ahead considering that

I think they should still just about get in for another year considering they're currently the 9th highest charting Christmas song and they'll presumably be back ahead of Band Aid after their one week boost from the new remix/physicals (although I guess Tom Grennan might overtake them as the Amazon songs always tend to rise up the ranks as Christmas approaches). Not surprised they're back to being on the borderline though as that's where they were in 2023, only having two weeks at #9, I'm sure they'll be missing out entirely some time in the next few years.

And yes please to Brenda overtaking Mariah. And Wham! for that matter x

Get that 2nd hit for Dasha, Spotify

That Peggy thing is abysmal

It could do with a remix, production is a bit minimal and boring.

Hope Shakin Stevens can go top 10 this year, my favorite Christmas song by some distance!

Yeh it’s so joyous, if it weren’t for it he would be long forgotten now!

and rightfully so, Shakin'Stevens put out some of the worst music of the 80s

Amazon and co will probably mean Wham are ahead this week!

He was pretty good at what he did tbf to him it was 25/30 years after the songs he covered were released so he just brought them to a new generation. He was t trying to be edgy and unique!

The Pogues getting destroyed on Apple as well now (down to #7) always thought their playlisting was quite good there, maybe it’s genuinely falling out of popularity

they did well to hold out for so long against the rising tide of Americanisation but perhaps you're right and they'll eventually just stop making the top 10 every year

Andy Williams of all people overtaking them on Apple is crazy

I have them at 5 on my feed with Mariah the one well down at 6 (it’s normally top 2/3), here’s the top 5:

1) Wham

2) Shaky

3) Elton John

4) Kelly Clarkson

5) The Pogues

6) Mariah (at 46 also)

7) Andy Williams

8) Leona Lewis

9) Band Aid 20

10) Michael Buble IBTLALC
