271 Paul Russell - Lil Boo Thang | 15-27-x

272 Jutes - Carry Me | 17-31-x

273 Anson Seabra - Snow Angel | 17-x

274 Alex Spencer - Waiting for the Change | 17-19-36-x

275 Chelsea Muco - Controlla | 19-33-x

276 Declan McKenna - Mulholland's Dinner and Wine | 36-x-23-27-x

277 Alfie Templeman - Dirty Laundry | 20-33-x

278 Austin Mahone - Sooner or Later | 14-x

279 Tinashe - Nasty | 16-35-x

280 Katy Perry - LIFETIMES | 20-x

Katy Perry already loses the second of her three entries as boppy LIFETIMES departs at #280, but in good news, her final appearance is a fair way off. Anson Seabra's only other 2024 showing is also a fair way off, but for now, the lovely and festive Snow Angel appears, representing a small selection of new Christmas songs to feature this year. Tinashe's viral hit Nasty returned her to my chart for the first time since 2020, while Austin Mahone's country-tinged comeback single was his first chart appearance since 2017, and highest since 2015 #10 hit Dirty Work! Chelsea Muco and Paul Russell made their chart debuts this year, the former with an afrobeats-inspired Melodifestivalen entry, and the latter with a Best of My Love-sampling bop which was one of the first hits of the year for me.

If the theme of the last section was dance, then indie pop probably defines this group! Alfie Templeman's Radiosoul album topped my album chart, and he quickly followed it with the funky Dirty Laundry, not on the album, but one of his three appearances here this year regardless. Declan McKenna's more experimental direction for album three meant a more muted reaction in my singles chart, with only Sympathy (#10 in 2023) making my top 10 from the tracklist, but Mulholland's Dinner and Wine is one of just five non-top 20 hits to make my top 300, possibly cementing itself as my favourite from the album by now. Alex Spencer's second of three appearances appears here, with Waiting for the Change being taken from his first EP released late in 2023. Moving progressively towards rockier music, Carry Me was the last of Jutes' two hits in 2024, as anything he's released since then has been quite unpleasant to my ears, but Carry Me is a solid track and he has an even better one to come.

261 BL3SS & CamrinWatsin feat. bbyclose - Kisses | 21-17-23-x

262 ROLE MODEL - Oh, Gemini | 10-22-x

263 Silvester Belt - Luktelk | 13-21-x

264 Max Parker - Fly Away (Feel Good) | 19-16-22-x

265 Post Malone feat. Morgan Wallen - I Had Some Help | 19-16-x

266 Lola Young - Messy | 18-27-18-12-…

267 Lady Gaga - The Joker | 13-x

268 Chance Peña - i am not who i was | 36-x-20-x

269 Croixx - How I’m feeling now... | 19-22-x

270 Hozier - Too Sweet | 26-16-21-27-38-x

I enjoyed a number of the UK number one hits of 2024, and here's the first one to appear in my EOY, courtesy of Hozier! It was a pretty cool moment to see him score a chart-topper, and Too Sweet became his biggest hit in my chart since his debut album. Post Malone couldn't quite make it to #1 himself with his first country single, but I Had Some Help has been a big hit nonetheless, and he works surprisingly well with Morgan Wallen. I've not heard the album but it's definitely my favourite of the pre-release tracks. Lola Young's currently storming up the UK charts with Messy, her breakthrough hit as primary artist, and it's been climbing my chart too, having just gone top 10! May well qualify to appear next year too so one to keep an eye on. Though this song didn't make the chart, The Joker was my big favourite from Lady Gaga's Harlequin project, but she unsurprisingly has two more pop-leaning tracks to appear much higher up. Though he's not charted, ROLE MODEL intriguingly made his first BBC Radio 1 playlist appearance recently. The song they playlisted was Deeply Still in Love, the follow-up single to this track, Oh, Gemini, which launched his second era earlier this year.

The rest of this section is made up of artists I hadn't charted before 2024! I discovered Croixx through Spotify's Discover Weekly feature (a rarity that I find anything worthwhile on it), and he scored two concurrent hits as a result. Higher is, ahem, the higher of the two, but his EP's title track How I'm feeling now... also made an impression in my top 20. Max Parker also achieved two concurrent top 20 hits, and the breezy Fly Away (Feel Good) is the first to drop. Chance Peña was also an artist I properly discovered in 2024, with mini viral hit i am not who i was making a couple of top 40 appearances, firstly after his album release, then following his concert that I attended! Silvester Belt was another Eurovision hit for me, with Luktelk quite possibly becoming the first song to make my chart in the Lithuanian language. Finally, a trio of artists who I'd never heard of came together to make the really catchy Kisses, an early summer hit for me. BL3SS, CamrinWatsin and bbyclose have all only charted on this song so far.

251 Frans - Don't Miss the Beat | 18-20-28-x

252 Benjamin Ingrosso - Look Who's Laughing Now | 20-x

253 Omar Rudberg - Talk | 14-23-x

254 Olly Alexander - Dizzy | 28-25-27-x-23-14-30-x

255 glaive - even when the sun is dead, will you tell them how hard i tried | 19-x

256 Bradley Simpson - Holy Grail | 12-x

257 Benson Boone - Friend | 17-x

258 GUS - Party | 22-31-x

259 Bradley Simpson - Cry at the Moon | 20-28-x

260 Griff - Miss Me Too | 20-29-35-x

2024 was dominated by a large number of current or former pop group members trying their hand at solo music, and one who took the leap was The Vamps frontman Bradley Simpson. Cry at the Moon was his debut single, landing at a surprisingly low #20 peak when Brad has one of my favourite voices in pop music. Better things were to come, though! His most recent track Holy Grail lands just three spots higher in my EOY, and his debut solo album is due out this year (yes I did type "next year" at first xx). Olly Alexander's journey to solo music has been a little confusing, with the final Years & Years album technically being his debut solo release, but he began his journey under his own name with Eurovision entry Dizzy. It didn't quite make my top 10 but has a strong number of weeks charting for a non-top 10 hit. Former Swedish Eurovision artists Frans and Benjamin Ingrosso also appear in this section, the former with a song unluckily released on one of the busiest weeks of the year, and the latter with a song performed at Eurovision before its release a little while later. Frans has one more song to come, while Benjamin has two. Omar Rudberg also tried to represent Sweden on a number of occasions, and his latest EP is represented by top 20 hit Talk in this section.

Whilst I've followed him for a few years now, I'm not super familiar with GUS' early output, so I was educated when he performed Party during his support act slot alongside Johnny Orlando early in 2024. It came close to a top 20 peak in the busiest period of the year for my chart, and finds itself as one of a very small number of non-top 20 hits in this year's countdown. Griff's Miss Me Too came at a similarly busy time, though she has two bigger top 5 hits still to feature. Also in this section is the longest song title of the year from glaive, initially titled Even When the Sun Is Dead, it later got changed to the full title as you can see above  the production is really great and it sees glaive land firmly back amongst the hyperpop sound that gave him a following. Benson Boone rounds the section out with the first of a few album tracks to feature from my favourite album of 2024!

241 Powfu, Jomie & Zaini feat. Skinny Atlas - milk in the morning | 13-21-29-x

242 Muni Long & Mariah Carey - Made for Me | 32-27-25-38-x

243 Alec Benjamin - The Arsonist | 22-x

244 Frans - Wasn't Meant to Be | 12-25-x

245 Benson Boone - What Do You Want | 16-x

246 Galantis, David Guetta & 5 Seconds of Summer - Lighter | 16-23-24-37-x

247 FRÖKEN SNUSK - UNGA & FRIA | 16-36-x

248 Alfie Templeman & Nile Rodgers - Just a Dance | 14-x

249 Felix Jaehn feat. Sophie Ellis-Bextor - Ready for Your Love | 12-33-x

250 Alec Benjamin - If Shakespeare Were Here | 11-22-x

The album tracks continue to filter through in this section, as another Benson Boone song drops out. What Do You Want is the closing track from Fireworks & Rollerblades, and represents Benson's frustration after a trusted friend telling him that the rest of his album didn't have any hits on it (!) - how wrong he was! Two Alec Benjamin album tracks appear here, with If Shakespeare Were Here making a splash from the deluxe edition of 12 Notes (satisfyingly subtitled 16 Notes x), whilst original album track The Arsonist is at #243. It's another non-top 20 hit to feature, as is the Mariah Carey remix of Muni Long's Made for Me, a slow burning hit in the middle of the year which did enough to overcome many one-weekers with higher peaks. Alfie Templeman also makes his next appearance, enlisting Nile Rodgers for the infectious Just a Dance.

I've already alluded to it a little but the first few months of 2024 were extremely busy, and I truly didn't have enough spots in my top 10 in several weeks. The three-way team up between Galantis, David Guetta and 5 Seconds of Summer was one of those casualties, with Lighter having a respectable run in the end for only a #16 peak, even if it was just Heartbreak Anthem 2.0. Powfu also missed out on another top 10 hit with milk in the morning around that time, though he has no shortage of top 10 hits still to feature! Frans' second hit of two appears in quick succession after his previous one. Wasn't Meant to Be was his first chart appearance since 2021 #2 hit My Favourite Waste of Time. Another Melfest hit appears here, this time from FRÖKEN SNUSK, one of the initial favourites of the contest but the second chance format change unfortunately blocked her from the final with this banger. Closing out the section is a dance collaboration between Felix Jaehn and Sophie Ellis-Bextor; Ready for Your Love marked Felix's first chart hit in five years, and is one of two new hits for Sophie this year, with the other still to come.

231 Corbyn Besson - Love Me Better | 31-13-26-35-x

232 dearALICE - Solar | 11-16-28-x

233 Powfu - facing the giants | 10-29-x

234 Benson Boone - My Greatest Fear | 13-x

235 Ella Henderson feat. Rudimental - Alibi | 16-15-28-37-x

236 Chance Peña - Feel It All | 31-30-26-19-22-32-x-34-x

237 Max Parker - Right Back Where We Started | 31-11-15-x

238 Artemas - you've been a bad girl | 34-x-26-x

239 dearALICE - Time With You | 12-18-35-x

240 Porter Robinson - Knock Yourself Out XD | 11-17-x

2024 brought some great new artists my way, or at least, artists I hadn't really paid any attention to before. Porter Robinson scored a duo of hits from his latest album, with Knock Yourself Out XD (sic) coming within touching distance of being his second top 10 hit. A much bigger track is still to come! Max Parker's highest of two entries is here, having also narrowly missed the top 10, while new boyband dearALICE make their first two appearances. All six of their songs so far have made my top 300, and the remaining four were all top 10 hits so are a fair bit higher. Corbyn Besson of Why Don't We launched his solo career with Love Me Better, not quite making the top 10, but he'd later score two top tier hits that are still to feature!

Artemas tops off a huge breakthrough year with the highest song not to have made my weekly top 20; you've been a bad girl is irresistible with huge production that really elevates it even further. Ella Henderson's had a hit and miss run in my chart, particularly with her dance songs, but Alibi was one of the bigger hits, managing a top 15 peak in the busiest period of the year. It was also Rudimental's first ever top 20 hit, unbelievably! One of the biggest slow burners of the year was Chance Peña's Feel It All, spending six weeks in my top 40 at the beginning of summer. Another Benson Boone album track departs as the stunning My Greatest Fear drops out at #234, and we see the loss of the first top 10 hit in this section, as Powfu's facing the giants, a sub-2 minute long song referencing David and Goliath, seeing a rare crossover between Powfu's music and his faith.

221 Ruel - Kiss Me | 9-23-x

222 Alex Sampson - If You Were My Girl | 18-10-16-32-x

223 Michael Aldag - balayage | 10-22-30-39-x

224 Addison Rae - Diet Pepsi | 39-22-19-15-23-26-31-x

225 Kate Nash - Change | 29-10-16-30-x

226 Benson Boone - Hello Love | 12-33-x

227 Conan Gray - Bourgeoisieses | 14-x-28-x

228 Bradley Simpson - Always Like This | 8-28-x

229 Ruel & DMA'S - We're a Pair of Diamonds | 9-18-32-x

230 Addison Rae - Aquamarine | 9-24-40-x

Now the top 10 hits have started to drop, we see a faster turnover begin! Addison Rae first hit the top 10 in 2023 with EP track I got it bad, and returned there in late 2024 with latest single Aquamarine. It's actually outdone by the previous single Diet Pepsi though, which "only" peaked at #15, but had a stronger chart run in the end. Ruel also loses two tracks in this section, one being his cover of Sixpence None the Richer's Kiss Me, which launched his Adaptations project, and the other being his second of two collaborations with Australian rock group DMA'S - their other collaboration is still to come!

Bradley Simpson loses one more track in the form of the rocky Always Like This, and we see the first appearances of both Michael Aldag and Kate Nash in this section. The former began the year with #10 hit balayage, with four higher peaking tracks still to appear in the countdown, while the latter released Change to mark the beginning of a new partnership with label Kill Rock Stars, though it did not feature on 9 Sad Symphonies. Though I'd heard of him before, it was his America's Got Talent audition showing up on my YouTube homepage that really made me take notice of Alex Sampson this year; If You Were My Girl was the second original track he performed during his time on the show, and also his second top 10 hit. Also in this section are two album tracks - Benson Boone loses the final non-top 10 peaking album track from Fireworks & Rollerblades, while Conan Gray's bouncy, Tainted Love-inspired Bourgeoisieses (sic) marks his best performing non-single this year.

211 Miles Wesley - Always | 9-22-27-35-x

212 Johnny Orlando - if he wanted to he would | 13-24-30-33-x

213 Dua Lipa - Illusion | 10-27-28-33-x

214 Conan Gray - Alley Rose | 10-17-40-x

215 Will Linley - Nothing But Love | 10-14-…

216 Isac Elliot - Emily | 9-31-x

217 GUS - Heat Island Effect | 10-28-x

218 Charlie Puth - December 25th | 10-21-33-x

219 Ava Max - Spot a Fake | 10-19-38-x

220 Boy In Space - Mayflowers | 17-9-19-30-x

In a section almost entirely washed out with low top 10 hits, any remaining top 20 hits start to feel a little more impressive. Calum dragged me along to a Johnny Orlando concert earlier in the year, and luckily for him, I had a great time, despite, at the time, not knowing any music he'd released in a few years. My big takeaway from the show was the pop-rock anthem if he wanted to he would, which subsequently became his highest charting single in three years. The support act for the show was GUS, which I didn't know when it was booked, so it became an even bigger incentive. Heat Island Effect is one of his two top 10 hits from 2024, with the other still to come. Another artist I saw live this year, Conan Gray scored a top 10 hit with the powerful Alley Rose, an unusually romantic track from Conan that served as the centrepiece to this era. I saw Will Linley live as one of my first concerts of the year, though latest track Nothing But Love wasn't on the setlist at that point. Nevertheless, it became his third top 10 hit of the year just a couple of weeks before the cut-off point for 2024.

Dua Lipa's third era was a little more muted than usual for me, and its biggest hit came in 2023, so Illusion ends up as her top track of 2024 at #213. Boy In Space achieved four top 10 hits from his Copium EP (and an impressive six in total in 2024), and Mayflowers is the first to drop. Isac Elliot loses his highest placed track with Emily not quite making it into the top 200 this year, while Charlie Puth and Ava Max both make their first appearances of two with #10 hits. The former released one of the best original Christmas tracks of the year, while the latter served a bop as she reliably does! Closing out the section is Miles Wesley, whose track Always kicked off his current era in style, channelling indie music a little more for his most heartfelt tracks yet.

201 Delta Goodrem - Hearts on the Run | 7-19-x

202 Jax Jones, Zoe Wees & Cascada - Never Be Lonely | 14-13-29-x

203 Zara Larsson - You Love Who You Love | 10-20-24-32-33-x

204 Metteson - Put It to Sleep | 12-12-24-x

205 Benjamin Ingrosso - Kite | 15-14-25-35-x-40-x

206 The Kid LAROI & Lil Yachty - HATRED | 7-27-39-x

207 Selena Gomez - Love On | 8-29-39-x

208 Charli xcx - 360 | 36-x-28-31-x-12-17-27-30-37-x

209 Alec Benjamin - The Plan | 8-11-22-x

210 Albin Tingwall - Mercy | 9-16-33-x

With another massive year under his belt, The Kid LAROI makes his first appearance at #206 with HATRED. Enlisting Lil Yachty, HATRED was what Laroi hoped to launch the deluxe edition of THE FIRST TIME with, but it appeared his label lacked faith in it and it was initially only released on Soundcloud and YouTube. It made my chart when it finally came out on all platforms as part of the deluxe album, albeit it was never given its proper single push. Alec Benjamin loses another of the three deluxe songs from 12 Notes as The Plan falls out at #209, and Metteson's album boosted Put It to Sleep, a 2023 single which had passed me by initially, close to my top 10 for the first time near the top of the year. Also getting an album boost was Charli xcx, whose 360 had initially made a bit of a muted impact, but came close to hitting my top 10 later down the line. Charli of course has many songs remaining in the countdown!

Losing out on a top 10 placement in the busy period at the top of the year, Benjamin Ingrosso scored a decent hit nonetheless with the infectious Kite, launching the Pink Velvet Theatre era in style. Zara Larsson returned to the top 10 with uplifting anthem You Love Who You Love, Selena Gomez added another top tier hit to her sizeable tally with the fun Love On, and Swedish popstar Albin Tingwall scored a second top 10 near the end of the year with Mercy, but his bigger Melodifestivalen entry is still to come. Also in this section is a surprise hit from Jax Jones, whose music has largely passed me by in recent years after a strong start, but he almost returned to the top 10 with Never Be Lonely after I heard it at the Summertime Ball, with Natalie from Cascada joining him to perform the remix! Finally, just missing out on the top 200 is Delta Goodrem, who continued her new 80s-themed sound with Hearts on the Run, which I first heard live in 2023. It's approaching a year since this came out though, I need more music please Delta! Album in 2025 please? x

195 Perrie - Christmas Magic | 9-20-35-x

196 Bebe Rexha - Chase It (Mmm Da Da Da) | 10-33-x

197 Will Linley - miss me (when you're gone) | 39-x-19-17-21-x

198 Sigala, Trevor Daniel & 24kGoldn - It's a Feeling | 7-14-x

199 SOAP - SOS | 16-9-15-x

200 Ariana Grande & Troye Sivan - supernatural | 24-15-24-29-x

Sneaking into the top 200 is an album track from Ariana Grande. Already a favourite on eternal sunshine, supernatural was elevated to the next level with a remix featuring Troye Sivan arrived very soon after. I suspect its chance has been missed but I'd love to see it get a single push! It's one of four non-top 10 hits in this section, bookending the section with Charli xcx's Von dutch, another casualty of the busiest period of the year, swamped out largely by Melodifestivalen tracks in March 2024, but it's one of my favourites from BRAT still. Also losing out a little bit later on was Honey Boy, a team-up lead by Purple Disco Machine, who scored his first hit in my chart, and with lead vocals from Benjamin Ingrosso, who scores his biggest hit of 2024 with this track. Also in this section is miss me (when you're gone), the 2022 debut single from South African popstar Will Linley, which was his first hit to make my chart but returned at a new top 20 peak after I saw him live last year.

One of the most curious hits of 2024, punk pop boyband SOAP supported The Vamps on tour, and following this, their track SOS made my top 10. The most interesting part of this is that it's an ABBA cover, and those who know me know I'm no ABBA fan at all, but I really enjoy their take on the song. Perrie scored a festive top 10 hit, which is her first of three songs to drop, while Sigala returned to my top 10 for the first time since 2022's Melody, bringing Trevor Daniel his first top 10 hit that didn't peak at #1, and 24kGoldn his first hit since 2020. Artemas' second top 10 hit came from dirty little secret, the second single from the yustyna mixtape. Finally, Bebe Rexha inched into the top 10 with the boppy Chase It, and also teamed up with Kylie Minogue and Tove Lo for the fun My Oh My. It's Bebe and Tove's highest placed hit of the year, but Kylie has another still to come.

181 Jonah Marais - TWISTED LULLABY | 6-16-29-38-x

182 Corbyn Besson - Don't Run | 26-7-21-39-39-x

183 Angelina Mango - la noia | 8-13-x

184 Kate Nash - Vampyre | 25-34-16-21-x

185 Powfu feat. YNR Nervy - pocket healer | 9-17-32-38-x

186 David Guetta & OneRepublic - I Don't Wanna Wait | 8-20-26-x

187 Natasha Hamilton - Edge of Us | 7-18-x

188 Alfie Templeman - Eyes Wide Shut | 27-9-20-x

189 Powfu feat. Jomie - blindside | 8-19-x

190 Jennifer Lopez feat. Latto - Can't Get Enough | 22-40-13-13-24-28-37-x

I was already quite enjoying the lead single from the latest Jennifer Lopez album on arrival, but it got a new lease of life when Latto jumped on the remix, elevating the song further and bringing it very close to a top 10 peak in the busy period near the start of the year. On the topic of collaborations, Powfu appears here with two separate collabs, one with regular collaborator Jomie at #189, and one with young rapper YNR Nervy at #185. Both of these are from separate album projects, highlighting just how prolific Powfu is! Also, David Guetta teamed up with OneRepublic to remake well-known O-Zone hit Dragostea Din Tei. I actually don't like the original song at all, but I enjoy the Guetta remake, basic but fun x

Natasha Hamilton is best known as a member of Atomic Kitten, but finally decided to embark on a solo career in 2024, with Edge of Us serving as her debut single. Whilst dated, her vocals are strong and I really like the track! Alfie Templeman kickstarted sophomore album era Radiosoul with the energetic Eyes Wide Shut, and two Why Don't We members feature at the top of the section, with Jonah Marais' debut single (which namedrops his fellow band members) just outdoing Corbyn Besson's only top 10 hit to date as a primary artist. Both have one song each remaining. Kate Nash features with Vampyre, one of my favourite tracks on her latest album, and Angelina Mango represents Eurovision, becoming one of four top 10 hits from last year's contest.

Hey Joseph, have just been catching up *.*

Outside of music - great to see the love for The 1% Club and The Traitors. I was pretty invested in BBUK once again but can see why it wasn't up there with the previous series for you, the cast may have been entertaining but most were quite unlikeable  thank goodness that Ali triumphed over Marcello! I agree that this hasn't been a vintage EE year after a strong 2023 (minus Yolande, the George baby farming storyline and I did enjoy the week of David returning) - here's hoping for a more positive year for the 40th anniversary.

Shoutout to Strictly, Only Connect, Gogglebox and QI for being shows we watched together IRL this year xx

Re. the Take That love in 2024, I enjoyed revisiting Progress with you and a few others - man band excellence!

Sabrina has been great on the music video front this year, all 3 have been memorable. I enjoy the 60s callbacks in 'Espresso'!

Glad you had such a good time seeing Girls Aloud live too  that setlist was wall-to-wall bangers and a childhood dream come true.

My favourite albums to appear for you were courtesy of: Beyoncé, Dua, Taylor, Charli & Ariana - what a year for ladies of pop *.*

Top highlights from your songs so far include: 'Too Sweet', 'Illusion', '360', 'supernatural' + 'Von dutch' praying that there's still time for 'supernatural' to become a single!!

hey Joseph ~ here's what I know and like out of the first 100:

202 Jax Jones, Zoe Wees & Cascada - Never Be Lonely -> was cool to see Cascada kinda-get a hit again

208 Charli xcx - 360 -> aww surprisingly low for this one, though at least there's plenty more Charli - this ended up my fave of Brat in the long run

213 Dua Lipa - Illusion

235 Ella Henderson feat. Rudimental - Alibi

240 Porter Robinson - Knock Yourself Out XD -> this finished similarly for me, #262 in the unpublished portion of my excel. now intrigued to see which of us charts Cheerleader higher :P

249 Felix Jaehn feat. Sophie Ellis-Bextor - Ready for Your Love -> this was brilliant though seemingly just a one-off of greatness for Felix again

261 BL3SS & CamrinWatsin feat. bbyclose - Kisses -> could never quite get into this much as I wanted to

263 Silvester Belt - Luktelk -> one of my faves of Eurovision last year!

266 Lola Young - Messy -> will certainly be in my 2025 list now, a brilliant breakthrough hit

270 Hozier - Too Sweet -> enjoyed this more than I expected as I was never that fond of Take Me To Church!

279 Tinashe - Nasty

284 Slimane - Mon amour

286 The Blessed Madonna & Kylie Minogue - Edge of Saturday Night

297 Alok & Bebe Rexha - Deep in Your Love

300 Joy Anonymous & Sugababes - JOY (Push the Button)

171 Kaleen - We Will Rave | 7-12-x

172 Will Linley - Blame | 8-19-29-33-40-x

173 Alyssa Reid - Put Your Phone Down | 6-…

174 Daniel Seavey - If I Ever Get to Heaven | 7-14-27-34-…

175 CYRIL with Dean Lewis - Fall At Your Feet | 8-23-36-x

176 Kate Nash - Space Odyssey 2001 | 10-19-36-x

177 Taylor Swift feat. Post Malone - Fortnight | 8-14-26-x

178 ROSÉ - number one girl | 8-18-22-33-…

179 Alesha Dixon - Ransom | 9-12-24-x

180 Meghan Trainor - Whoops | 9-15-33-x

Another song boosted by the Summertime Ball, Whoops had sparked some interest in the recent Meghan Trainor era that I was lacking based on its lead single. It's nothing new in terms of its style, but the fact it wouldn't feel out of place on her debut album is probably what sold it to me...! Alesha Dixon also returned to my top 10 this year with latest single Ransom, performed on Britain's Got Talent and containing an interpolation of Here Comes the Hotstepper. It became her first top 10 hit in 9 years! A more regular name in my chart, Kate Nash crept into the top 10 with Space Odyssey 2001, a delicate song named after the film (which, she declares, is "so f***ing long"), whilst Alyssa Reid scored her second of two top 10 hits in 2024 in the very last week of tracking. She has a #1 hit still to come, as does Daniel Seavey, whose touching tribute to a friend who was murdered in a drink-driving accident is his first of four songs to appear.

Leading the mammoth THE TORTURED POETS DEPARTMENT era, Taylor Swift scored a top 10 hit with Fortnight, but she has a bigger track still to feature. ROSÉ has two bigger songs to come, with the lovely number one girl marking her first appearance. Will Linley's second of three appears here with Blame, which collided with the release of Benson Boone's album and lost its chance to get a top 5 peak! Kaleen took Eurovision by storm with her dance pop bop We Will Rave and it became an immediately top 10 in my chart, and Australian DJ CYRIL arrived in my chart for the first time with a top 10 hit cover of Crowded House's Fall At Your Feet, bringing Dean Lewis a third top 10 hit.

161 Tate McRae - 2 hands | 7-13-22-26-31-…

162 Kesha - DELUSIONAL | 5-12-17-…

163 Knox - Me, Myself & Your Eyes | 6-23-37-x

164 Kate Nash - Millions of Heartbeats | 27-9-25-30-x

165 Artemas - if u think i'm pretty | 15-18-23-x

166 Alec Benjamin - Found You First | 4-11-21-31-x

167 Miles Wesley - Shadows | 39-7-14-21-29-37-x

168 Michael Schulte & Norma Jean Martine - If you love me | 7-14-32-39-x

169 Sophie Ellis-Bextor - Freedom of the Night | 9-16-33-x

170 Ruel & DMA'S - What a Life | 21-4-11-22-36-x

We start to lose some top 5 hits in this section, intriguingly whilst a few non-top 10 hits are still in the mix. Ruel and DMA'S teamed up for What a Life, their first of two collaborations in 2024 which has significantly outperformed its successor here, but it ends up as the lowest placed top 5 hit of the year. Only a few spots ahead if Alec Benjamin with Found You First, a track that arrived about a month after the 12 Notes album, but didn't feature on the deluxe album later on for some reason. It's not his very best song anyway and he has numerous songs still in the mix. Kesha also loses her first of two, with recent hit DELUSIONAL falling a little short of the top half. Also in this section is a top 15 hit from Artemas, who made his first chart appearance with if u think i'm pretty near the start of the year. It's been a song I've regularly gone back to and has held up a lot with his more recent releases.

Kate Nash loses another track at #164, with just one more to come for 2024, while Tate McRae also leaves just one song in the running as 2 hands falls out at #161. Sophie Ellis-Bextor scored a top 10 hit with recent single Freedom of the Night, marking her highest appearance of 2024 (but shoutout to Murder on the Dancefloor which made #1 in 2024!), and Knox loses his first of five singles released in 2024 - he still lacks a #1 hit, but Me, Myself & Your Eyes was the only one of these tracks to miss my top 5. Miles Wesley has two further tracks in the running but the haunting Shadows is a great example of how he's finetuned his sound this era, and finally, we lose a team-up between chart regular Michael Schulte, and a newbie to my chart Norma Jean Martine. If you love me was one of the first top 10 hits of the year in my chart, and was the only time either artist reached that region.

My favourites so far are 'Too Sweet', 'Kisses', 'Aquamarine' (shame this didn't follow 'Diet Pepsi' into the official Top 40) and 'Illusion' - all lower end top 20s for me so would probably land in similar positions if I were doing a longer EOY!

158 JENNIE - Mantra | 25-12-8-20-27-x

159 Miles Wesley - Space | 22-36-32-24-19-15-13-22-25-26-34-35-x

160 glaive - huh | 9-17-x

The final section of the bottom half sees the selection of one-week top 10s continue, but there are a couple of tracks that didn't even get that high! One of the slowest burners of 2024 was Space, the second Miles Wesley release of the year. Entering at a disappointing #22 and dropping to #36 in week 2, it had a remarkable recovery, bouncing up to a peak of #13 on its seventh week, before tying 2022 #1 hit Luck as his longest runner. Artemas makes another appearance, this time with my favourite album track from the yustyna mixtape. He has two more songs to appear, both of which were top 10 hits. The Kid LAROI places two album tracks of his own in this section, both stemming from the deluxe edition of THE FIRST TIME, while glaive launched his first project of 2024 with the hyperpop-tinged huh, a brief top 10 hit in my chart but one that's stood the test of time quite well.

Perrie just misses out on the top half with You Go Your Way, but she has one song remaining that's a lot higher! Chance Peña also has one more song to come, with Is What It Is, his first top 10 hit, tapping out at #156. Melodifestivalen gets some representation from Dotter in this section, who scored her first top 10 hit since previous Melfest entry Little Tot, while JENNIE scored a solo top 10 hit with Mantra, but of course, she's not the top BLACKPINK member in this countdown. Finally, Michael Aldag's energetic and somewhat edgy pretty almost took him to the top 5, but he still has three more songs left in the running.

141 Marcus & Martinus & VIZE - Another Life | 5-15-25-38-x

142 GUS - Taller Than the Trees | 8-23-25-x

143 Powfu feat. Ouse - cinnamon hearts | 5-11-21-x

144 Bradley Simpson - Daisies | 5-9-18-36-x

145 Miles Wesley - Travis Has a Gun | 8-17-22-24-33-33-x

146 Jutes - Born to Lose | 4-10-20-31-x

147 Mimi Webb - Mistake | 7-18-24-29-x

148 Olivia Rodrigo - obsessed | 16-9-22-34-x

149 Artemas - how could u love somebody like me? | 9-16-21-34-20-29-35-x

150 Clean Bandit, Anne-Marie & David Guetta - Cry Baby | 9-14-19-25-30-39-x

Sliding into the top half, Clean Bandit enlisted Anne-Marie once again for another baby-related hit, returning them to my top 10 for the first time since 2020, and giving Anne-Marie her only top 10 hit of the year. Jutes taps out at #146 with Born to Lose, one of the first new hits of 2024, while Olivia Rodrigo makes her only appearance of the year at #148 with the rocky obsessed, one of my favourite songs from the GUTS era. Mimi Webb also makes her sole 2024 appearance, with what is surprisingly her only top 10 hit in my chart! Mistake is extremely underrated and did not deserve to be the song that broke her run of hits. Miles Wesley places his top song in this section with the unsettling Travis Has a Gun.

Artemas makes another appearance, with a recent top 10 hit that should be kickstarting his new era. Powfu began his latest album era with cinnamon hearts, a track with regular collaborator Ouse, who simply produced this track instead of providing vocals as he usually does. Bradley Simpson followed up #1 hit Picasso with top 5 hit Daisies. It's his most breezy, uptempo song to date and I hope there's at least a couple more songs in this vein on his album! I first heard Taller Than the Trees by GUS when I saw him live, and it made an immediate impact when it was released on the EP of the same name not long after; it now finishes as his biggest song of 2024. Finally, making their first of three appearances, Marcus & Martinus collaborated with DJ VIZE for a bouncy bop near the end of the year, though their remaining two songs are notably bigger hits.

131 Averagekidluke feat. Turisti - Rich Man | 15-12-6-8-14-26-37-x

132 Alex Spencer - Nightmares | 17-10-16-31-x

133 Alec Benjamin - AI | 5-6-10-22-36-37-x

134 Sabrina Carpenter - Bed Chem | 24-23-29-27-19-10-9-11-…

135 Adam Woods - Weekend | 4-10-13-20-35-x

136 Anson Seabra - Fine | 6-10-17-20-29-37-x

137 Charli xcx - Apple | 35-10-7-19-26-27-35-x

138 dearALICE - Best Day of Our Lives | 9-11-25-40-x

139 Zach Herron - caroline | 5-11-25-34-38-x

140 Shy Smith - Soaked | 14-10-21-28-34-x

We're rapidly approaching the bigger hits of 2024 now, and we've arrived at a section with an abnormally high amount of artists beginning with A. At the top end is Rich Man by Averagekidluke, a song which arrived at the end of 2023 and featured in my previous EOY, but it peaked in the top 10 in 2024 so I've allowed it to feature again. It's one of the best songs I've heard so far from one of Finland's newest stars, and for the second year running, I believe he has the highest track by a Finnish artist. Anson Seabra scored his only top 10 of the year with midtempo track Fine, another great display of Anson's soft vocals and great songwriting. The highest deluxe track from Alec Benjamin's 12 Notes appears here, with the topical AI comparing the interactions he has with a love interest to a computer, and Adam Woods makes his first appearance of two, with his Melodifestivalen entry still to come. Lastly for the A artists, rising indie-pop artist Alex Spencer scored his first top 10 hit with Nightmares, a catchy track which includes a middle 8 performed in Spanish as a nod to his mum who's from Spain. It later got included on the FIFA soundtrack and is now his most-streamed song on Spotify, which is deserved as it's definitely my favourite of his so far!

At the opposite end of the alphabet, Why Don't We member Zach Herron released his debut single last year, tapping into pop/rock for the catchy caroline. He's the fourth band member to appear with solo music in my EOY, leaving only Jack Avery who has yet to release any solo music. Zach's yet to follow this song up but hopefully an album or EP is to come this year! From one boyband to another, dearALICE lose their third song of six with the anthemic Best Day of Our Lives, penned by Tom Grennan and performed by them on Strictly Come Dancing. Charli xcx's viral sensation Apple is the lowest placed song with multiple weeks top 10, which is no bad thing as it remains one of the most fun moments on BRAT, and a huge grower after I wasn't that bothered by it initially! Sabrina Carpenter appears for the first time of four with newest hit Bed Chem, which hit my top 10 at the very end of the year, and Shy Smith scored a breakthrough hit with Soaked, which felt reminiscent of Cassie's mid-2000s hits, so I wish it could have blown up more. It's her only hit so far in my chart.

121 Lost Frequencies & Tom Odell - Black Friday (pretty like the sun) | 9-11-16-28-33-34-x

122 Katy Perry feat. Doechii - I'M HIS, HE'S MINE | 7-7-8-14-27-x

123 Skye Riley & Naomi Scott - Blood on White Satin | 13-5-…

124 A Little Sound & Sugababes - Situation | 8-12-18-27-38-x

125 Tate McRae - It's ok I'm ok | 5-6-10-17-32-x

126 David Kushner - Skin and Bones | 7-14-20-35-x

127 Michael Aldag - cubicles | 4-16-19-35-x

128 Boy In Space - Finally Fine Without You | 3-6-13-21-33-x

129 Kate Nash - Ray | 8-13-17-22-23-30-x

130 Camila Cabello - Chanel No.5 | 14-7-10-16-36-39-x

Her latest era has proven somewhat divisive, but Camila Cabello still scored two new top 10 hits in my chart this year. Chanel No.5 served as a promotional single from C,XOXO and I love the unique production it has. The other top 10 track from the era is still to come. David Kushner also has one more song left in the running, with early 2024 top 40 hit Skin and Bones being the first to drop. It was a top 10 it in my chart, matching his then-highest position alongside Daylight, but he has one higher peaking song still to show up. On the other end of things, Tate McRae makes her final appearance with the underrated It's ok I'm ok, giving Tate her first top 5 hit as a lead artist, while Kate Nash's highest placed song arrives at #129. Ray was a song I first heard on tour in 2022, so it was great to hear it in studio form finally! Katy Perry's highest placed song also features here, with the Gypsy Woman-sampling I'M HIS, HE'S MINE also providing Doechii with a first top 10 hit, and it ends up comfortably ahead of the other two 143 singles.

Boy In Space was particularly prolific in 2024, releasing seven new tracks (six as primary artist), and the third to drop appears here. Finally Fine Without You is the lowest placed top 3 hit of the year, though it's only one spot behind a song that wasn't far off a top 3 peak itself. Michael Aldag's cubicles is his third highest song of the year, while Tom Odell also leaves two more songs remaining in the countdown as the Lost Frequencies remix of Black Friday departs at #121. The original song peaked at #3, but both songs spent six weeks top 40. Another dance rework, albeit using an interpolation instead of a direct sample, A Little Sound brought a fresh take to Sugababes' classic hit Overload, with the girls providing newly recorded supporting vocals for a track that serves as the best Sugababes rework yet. Closing the section is a song one of my students recommended to me! I'm no horror movie fan at *all*, so I wouldn't have heard this otherwise, but Skye Riley is a character in Smile 2, who is a fictional popstar played by Naomi Scott. Blood on White Satin is one of Skye's songs, and I love the production as well as how infectious the chorus is. It hit the top 5 in the final week before my EOY cut-off.

‘Diet Pepsi’ reaching the top 10 was an iconic chart moment of 2024! Her EP from last year was so fun but I never saw her ever doing this well.

Charli really dominated the year so good to see representation for her here. ‘360’ and ‘Apple’ are great but ‘Von dutch’ would be my pick of the three.

‘Fortnight’ grew on me so much after hearing it on tour. It’s a shame that it fell away quickly for a #1 hit.

Great to see some BLACKPINK impact with ‘number one girl and ‘Mantra’. ‘Mantra’ especially is so fun and I’m glad it got Jennie another top 40 hit.

‘obsessed’ is a great rockier track from Olivia. I’m so intrigued to hear what she does next.

I feel like ‘Soaked’ is really underappreciated. It has such old-school Timbaland vibes that I’ve really missed from the chart.

Loving so much from your recent sections. My other faves are Illusion, Love On, Hearts on the Run, supernatural, 2 hands, Apple, Bed Chem, It’s ok I’m ok & Chanel No. 5

111 Camila Cabello feat. Playboi Carti - I LUV IT | 6-9-20-32-x

112 Alex Sampson - Pretty Baby | 11-6-12-23-31-35-x

113 Shaznay Lewis - Miracle | 4-12-29-35-x

114 Benson Boone - Be Someone | 7-26-x-26-x

115 Dasha - Bye Bye Bye | 4-6-18-31-35-x

116 David Kushner - Darkerside | 6-11-17-25-37-x

117 Lady Gaga & Bruno Mars - Die With a Smile | 4-7-14-18-27-28-x

118 Tom Odell - The End | 13-10-7-12-18-23-32-x

119 NOTD & Corbyn Besson - Panic | 6-15-21-21-26-28-37-x

120 Charli xcx & Ariana Grande - Sympathy is a knife | 24-7-10-18-24-37-x

Four songs from Charli xcx's BRAT remix album appear in my countdown, and they're also her four highest songs! The lowest of those four is Sympathy is a knife, which charted in its remix version with Ariana Grande. Whilst the other three to come were very instant, this one proved to be a grower, initially debuting at #24 before rocketing to its top 10 peak. Tom Odell's The End was also something of a grower, debuting at #13 at the very end of 2023, but its top 10 peak allows it into my EOY for a second time. It's his second highest song of the year, much like Die With a Smile, which is the second highest song for both Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars. At the time, Die With a Smile became Bruno's highest peaking song, though it's since been usurped by his remaining track in this year's countdown! Another song that channels the same retro vibe as Die With a Smile is Pretty Baby, the breakthrough hit for Alex Sampson in my chart. An original track, Alex performed it for his America's Got Talent audition, which came up on my YouTube homepage. It's his final track to appear this year, much like Darkerside for David Kushner, which became his highest peaking hit to date upon debut in August.

For his first solo top 10 hit, Corbyn Besson teamed up with Swedish production duo NOTD. It returned NOTD to the top 10 for the first time in 2 years, and is Corbyn's highest placed song of the year. Dasha achieved her first top 5 hit with Bye Bye Bye, her third hit in my chart off 2024, but she has two further tracks still to appear in my EOY. Benson Boone reached the top 10 with album track Be Someone, which serves as the first proper track on Fireworks & Rollerblades. He has five songs still to come in this year's countdown, four of which were #1 hits. Finally, we close this section with two former girl group members. Shaznay Lewis has scored four top 10 hits as part of All Saints in my chart (and many more with their classic material if my chart had existed, no doubt!), but Miracle gave her a first solo hit at the start of the year. Shoutout to her 2004 debut solo single Never Felt Like This Before, though, which also pre-dates my chart! At #111, we have former Fifth Harmony member Camila Cabello with her biggest hit of the year. Divisive upon release, I was always on board with I LUV IT and appreciated a change in direction from Camila. The closing rap from Playboi Carti is more humorous than anything, but the song's production is top notch and Camila sells it with conviction.

101 Fred Roberts - Sound of My Youth | 3-13-20-30-x

102 Ruel - Cats on the Ceiling | 3-7-17-23-30-34-40-x

103 Griff - Anything | 21-24-8-5-12-18-26-x

104 Knox - Change Your Mind | 4-10-16-39-40-x

105 Jordan Suaste - love who you want to | 15-18-22-34-39-x

106 Ariana Grande, Brandy & Monica - the boy is mine | 35-10-5-12-18-26-39-x

107 Daniel Seavey - Gateway Drug | 4-11-17-29-39-x

108 Timothée Chalamet & The Cast of Wonka - A World of Your Own | 9-4-8-17-36-x

109 Dasha - Didn't I? | 7-8-15-24-32-36-x

110 Daniel Seavey - Other People | 2-6-13-22-30-x

The hits are coming thick and fast now and we lose our first #2 hit outside the top 100. Daniel Seavey makes two appearances in this section, with #2 hit Other People being the first to drop, whilst the boppier Gateway Drug follows at #107. Daniel still has a #1 hit single in the running, and he and Jonah are the only Why Don't We members with songs still to come. Both songs are outperformed by the biggest non-top 10 hit of the year. Jordan Suaste was another victim of the busiest week of 2024, with love who you want to landing at a peak of #15 in its first week. It's a song that's really stuck with me over the year now, even re-entering in the lower portion of my latest chart, and it's his best EOY position to date. Timothée Chalamet scored his first hit at the very beginning of 2024, with a song from the Wonka soundtrack. A World of Your Own was firmly my favourite song from the movie, but shoutout to Timothée's version of Pure Imagination, which was one of the last songs cut for my top 300. Dasha also had a breakthrough in 2024, and Didn't I? assured she wouldn't end up a one-hit wonder when it debuted at the same peak position of her breakthrough hit. Of course, Austin is still in the running.

Hopping on the remix, Brandy and Monica scored their first top 10 hit each alongside Ariana Grande on the boy is mine. The track was a top 10 hit before the remix came out, but I decided to credit both performers as the remix boosted the song to a top 5 peak. Of course, I have a lot of love for their original The Boy Is Mine track (as well as other Brandy songs) but it pre-dates my chart. Knox channelled the folk-pop trend from 2024 in Change Your Mind, which reached my top 5 in the middle of the year, and Griff scored a slow-burning top 5 hit with Anything, which marks her second appearance of three this year. Shaving his head for his comeback single (not a good thing to do in my books xx), Ruel's Cats on the Ceiling was nonetheless a great song, and he has two songs featuring in the top 100 this year. Finally, just missing out on the top 100 is the title track of Fred Roberts' debut EP. Cut from the same cloth as EOY top 20 hits Say and Runaway from last year, Sound of My Youth was a song I'd already heard live prior to the EP's release, so it was great to get it in studio form. Fred has one more song to appear this year.
