Not too fussed about any that have dropped out so far, pre-Beatles pop definitely not an area I know much about. If we could give 25 points I might've given one to Shaky. Shame about losing Knockin On Heaven's Door, one of the better charity covers to hit big. Lol at Gary not even being the highest sex offender on this list

Not overly familiar with a lot of those (the Cliff songs I might've heard before). That cover of 'Knocking On Heaven's Door' is okay.
I sort of half considered giving 1 point to 'Singing The Blues', nothing else of value lost so far (out of songs that I actually remember) x

On release the Wamdue Project blocked this from #1, but it then spent 3 weeks there before being dethroned at Christmas by Westlife. It was voted the 4th worst #1 in history on this forum a couple of years ago.

“Return To Sender” by Elvis blocked this from the top at Christmas, though it made it subsequently. “Bachelor Boy” is a nice tune my favourite Cliff track in this selection.

And it’s a triple whammy for Cliff as his last track bows out. This one had a whole month at #2 but didn’t go any higher, and was blocked by “Don’t You Want Me”, our favourite Christmas #1.

This was the only hit for Gordon who found fame in later life. It was blocked from #1 by Robbie and Nicole’s “Something Stupid”, but Gordon’s Top Of The Pops appearance that week was shelved and it was thought that without that he might have gone to #1.

This gave Jive Bunny their 3rd and final #1, though it was dethroned after 1 week by Band Aid II. It’s largely excerpts from what were considered to be Christmas classics at the time and it’s glam rock heavy with Wizzard, Slade and of course Mr Glitter, who finishes higher with his sample than his actual track.

A #2 hit held off by “I Hear You Knocking” by Dave Edmunds. I much prefer that but this is a nice piece of folk rock.

Lol at Gary not even being the highest sex offender on this list

This Yorkshire based brass band is regarded as one of the finest ever, formed in 1881 and still going strong. This instrumental was held off #1 by “Mull Of Kintyre”, still one of the biggest pure sellers in history. It’s nice but but not one of my favourite instrumental hits.

This was voted the 21st worst #1 in history by Buzzjack a couple of years ago, but nonetheless has a few fans due to its comic value. It was knocked off #1 at Christmas by “Long Haired Lover From Liverpool”, itself voted the 3rd worst #1 in history. Chuck has plenty of well streamed songs on Spotify, including “Run Rudolph Run” which has been doing very well of late. Unsurprisingly this isn’t one of them.

I’ve spared everyone the slightly disturbing close up mouth video! This was her first chart topper before finishing runner up to Wham! in Christmas week. I don’t know if it suffered from being too new, or the fact that it wasn’t confirmed as the Christmas #2 when the poll was started.

Quite a decent group there, never minded Cliffs efforts and MP of course is pure cheese but it was coming up to the millennium so there was always going to be something like this at the top spot!

After 7 straight #1s this missed out. In truth it was unlucky as it sold over 200,000 copies in its opening week and was bigger than many of their chart toppers, coming up against the mammoth sales of Bob The Builder.
